The pool was great and seem to be well-maintained. There were plentiful bathrooms and showers everywhere. The woods and grass fields were lovely. Something that stood out was the in-house food service. Feeding over 700 people 2 meals a day is not trivial and they did a great job. Food was always available on time (buffet style) and there were plenty of healthy options, including fruit, salad, and so on. The food team seemed to take pride in their work. Bathrooms: In good condition and functional. This is a campground with rustic cabins, so expectations are admittedly low, but they exceeded them.

I recently found out that there are so many other festivals that take place there. It's built over the Underground Railroad. It's a very spiritual land. Harriet Tubmans house is on that land. There's so much to do there. There's never enough time to spend there. The first time I went I said I'm never going home. The air is fresh and the lake is amazing. You can follow a trail. The camp ground provides a few different options for your camping needs. Whether you're in the mood for the full camping experience with no electricity or if you would prefer an electrical site to plug in all your goods. The sites offer a decent amount of space for you to spread out with all of your gear. Each site has a fire pit to do some grilling and roast marshmallows and a table with benches, to hang out and enjoy your meals. A bath house with showers are also in each loop, and they're actually pretty well kept, aside from the bugs running around, which is expected. You'll occasionally see the park rangers riding around throughout the day to keep an eye on things, and they're all really friendly. If you're looking to get outside and rough it for a few days or take a much needed break from the stress of the world at trip to Elk Neck for a beautiful camping trip is the way to do it.

We got in late and were very, very tired after a 12-hour drive. After discovering that we had to…read morechoose between water/electricity or sewer because the connections were too far apart, we chose water/electricity. This meant we had to be careful not to fill our gray tank. That was unfortunate. However, the worst was that the circuit breaker for the electricity kept kicking off, so we had no power to run our medical equipment overnight. After 3 phone calls to the office went unanswered, we gave up and turned our generator on. This caused great discomfort to some family members so we ended up having to turn it off. It was an uncomfortable, difficult night, so we didn't get much sleep. Sadly, the other RV with other family members had the same problem at their campsite as well. They had to run their generator all night. Hopefully, the management will come up with a better communication system to deal with problems at their campground when the office is closed. Thankfully, we were only there one night. Update - We received a phone call from the answering service at noon the next day. After explaining the problem, she had the manager call. He called just before 2pm (they close at 2pm everyday). He didn't believe what my dad was saying, but said he would check it out and give us a call. Haven't heard back yet. We deserve a full refund for such a miserable night - for both RVs. We will be sure to spread the word about the service at this campground with our friends who travel in their RVs.

From my research this is what I discovered: Pros: easy and quick drive from Lancaster Co Right on the bay Very community minded residents - everyone seemed to know each other Clean grounds from what I could see fishing pier beach area complete with sand Not a lot of rules about what improvements you can make - some campsites were quite elaborate while others were bare bones Cons: Yearly rent was high! $2700 + a year visitors are charged a fee per person per day and from what I'm told they are pretty strict Additional cost for boat dock use no pool, community room, playground, or pavilion A few social activities but not as many as one would expect No direct water/sewer hook ups bathhouses could use updating and a good cleaning showers cost 25 cents per 2 minutes nickel and dime fee for boat dock beach area was very rocky the first 4' into the water Overall a great place to visit as a guest but expensive as a resident

So happy to have had the opportunity to take my grandson here late in the summer of 2020. After…read moremonths of being inside, getting a chance to be outdoors and have him run and play was a welcoming adventure. Having been to Muddy Run park throughout my life for various things (weddings, boating, etc) the splash park is relatively new and I was eager to check it out. Best thing about it...IT'S TOTALLY FREE! While it may be on the small side it's loads of fun for kids of all ages, with buckets that dump, spritzers that spray, nozzles that shoot, and cascading water everywhere. There's so many features that they can interact with and ways to get wet - alittle or alot - your choice. The pad is clean and colorful with a retaining wall where parents can sit and keep a close eye. It's surrounded by a grassy area with picnic tables, shade trees, and a playground. You can have a picnic, or just soak in the sun's rays. While it's about a 40 minute drive from Lancaster City it's worth the trip as there's other things to do in the park - fish, boat, ride bike, trails, camp, ride horses, etc. GPS did send me the wrong way but once you find the park the signage will lead you right to it. I was pleasantly surprised by the behavior of the kids there, and parents were pretty attentive. There's a bathroom a short walk away, which we didn't go in, as well as an employee monitoring (but not lifeguarding) the area. The splash pad has it's on designated parking lot. We'll definately go back in 2021
