Went to camp Grady Spruce what was suppose to be Monday -Wednesday and had to leave at midnight. The activities were great but the sleeping arrangements were not so great. Woke up to the cabin attached to us full of bed bugs and after searching our side we had bed bugs as well along with some bites. All in all had to pack all our things in bags and come home in the middle of the night. The staff did attend to us quickly. read more

Been to CGS several years now with my daughters and now they have done the horse riding Ranch Camp. Legit every single counselor and the camp directors are great! And as a father asking (yes I'm that dad ) where they are from or why they came here, they legit came because they love the kiddos. Highly highly recommend CGS and we will be back!!! read more

I volunteered as a summer camp counselor at Camp Grady Spruce this year, and I have nothing but great things to say about it. The kids, the counselors, the instructors, and our other camp staff all had a fantastic time and left with huge smiles on their faces. We can't wait to go back again next summer. The YMCA staff has the entire camp operating like a well-oiled machine. I would say they have all their ducks in a row, but that would be too literal, since there really were ducks waiting outside the dining hall every morning, hoping for the kids to throw them some food. From the kitchen staff, to the lifeguards, to the activity instructors, everyone was on the ball and did their best to make sure the campers ate well, stayed safe, and had fun. The camp facilities were great too. This is the first camp I've been to where the cabins have air conditioning, and now I wonder how any camp in Texas gets by without it. It's SO NICE to be able to go inside and cool down after a long hike or horseback ride. And sleeping without A/C is no fun at all. Speaking of which, the bunks were actually really comfortable too. The cabins also have indoor bathrooms and showers, as opposed to other camps that have separated showers/bathrooms that are shared by multiple cabins. Again, this is a really nice luxury. The dining hall here is enormous, and all the tables quickly and easily fold up and out of the way to make room for indoor activities. Our campers had crafts and games in there every day, and we held our camp dance there as well. Looking forward to many more summers at Camp Grady Spruce! read more

Great place for a retreat or camp for kids. Huge grounds, sits on a lake, quiet, and you can see the Milky Way at night!

This place is Amazing with a capital A. I went there with my school and I'm really looking forward to going every summer now!!!!

I really wish that I could give a 0/5 stars, but I can't. My cabin was INFESTED WITH BED BUGS. Do not go here until they have taken care of the problem or have bought new beds!! I had over 100 bed bug bites! I ended up having a pretty severe allergic reaction and had to go to the emergency room. My family and I had to throw out our pillows, sleeping bags, and some of our clothes. We had to take the rest of our clothes to a laundromat and had to pay to get our cars cleaned specifically for bed bugs. Although Camp Grady Spruce did not charge us because of the bed bugs, we ended up paying around $600 for cleaning, buying what we had to throw away, and for my emergency room visit. We are now hoping and praying that no bed bugs got into our home. NOT WORTH IT. Just don't. This has been an absolute nightmare and we will not ever be returning. read more
