I can only speak to the daycare aspect of Camp Bow Wow since I haven't yet tried any of their other services, but my dog loves coming to day camp. As soon as we pull in the parking lot, he gets way excited to go play. He usually suffers a bit of separation anxiety but he has no problem at all leaving me in the lobby when he goes back to the play area! The counsellors all seem to love him and when I'm picking up or dropping off, they seem to know a lot of the dogs' names. Having the 'Camper Cams' is a plus, too, since I like to be able to check in on my boy throughout the day. He's always following someone (human or canine) around, his tail going a mile a minute. And the best part? He's pooped at the end of the day. So he gets a good time and I get a break from an 8 or 9 month old puppy with incredibly high energy levels. We have some trips coming up and I may try their boarding services soon. If I do, I'll be sure to update my review. Love Camp Bow Wow! read more

Summary: My dog was attacked by another dog during her stay My puppy (6 months) is super social and has never met a stranger. I took her to camp bow wow for what was supposed to be a 2 night boarding stay. An hour after I dropped her off I received a call from the manager saying that she has been bitten by another dog and was bleeding but the injuries seemed minor. I requested he send me pictures and authorized him to take her to the vet. The pictures did not show the wound in its entirety (she is quite wiggly but I still think good pictures could have been taken). The picture showed two bites that punctured through the skin, whereas she had three bites that punctured through the skin, and two more that left decent marks but didn't break the skin. The manager took her to the vet (he attempted to take her to our current vet but they were full for the day). The vet called me to explain the depth of the injuries and what all needed done. In the end her injuries were not superficial like the manager led me to believe but needed staples. (The manager isn't a medical professional so he gave his best guess I assume) I didn't feel my puppy was safe there so I decided to pick her up a day early. When I picked her up her bed was soiled which leads me to believe she wasn't taken out. The cone the vet gave her was cracked when I got her, and they had the cracked cone on her like it wasn't a problem or a hazard. Luckily I had an inflatable recovery collar on hand in prep for her getting spayed. I do appreciate the way it was handled (they took her to the vet, covered the cost, and made her boarding stay free.) However, I don't feel that the dogs were being properly watched, otherwise this wouldn't have happened. read more

First time to many dogs and my dog was their from 130 to 6.pm This last time my dog 1030 to 545 because they booked a dog that was not fixed, so my dog was bumped with out phone call. We took our puppy to Camp Bow Wow early on and enrolled in classes. Positives: Our dog enjoyed his doggy daycare days at Camp. Our instructor was very positive and fun to work with. Negatives: Camp Bow Wow doesn't accept non-neutered dogs above 6 months so AKC breeding dogs can't attend. Board & train options were somewhat limited. Class proceeded a bit more slowly than at Astro Kennels. *Routes to Therapy Dog Certification: 1. Attend private lessons for beginner through Therapy Dog and then get certified through Alliance of Therapy Dogs (ATD) via Noble Dog Hotel. This is the more expensive option. 2. Attend classes at Astro Kennels, then take Therapy Dog class at Petsmart in Mount Pleasant, SC, and then contact a private ATD evaluator through the ATD website. We are camp bow wow members for life. We have moved all across the country and always find our camp bow wow. We were actually visiting family when visiting this location. Because our dogs are no stranger to camp bow wow they let us stay without an interview as we are regulars at our home base in Florida and they spoke on our behalf. Greenville location was very accommodating. This camp is very large and very up to date on the inside. I love that you can buy treat and toys for you pup. They also offered an enrichment program for personalized time which I thought was a really nice touch. Some dogs such as puppies, Senior or anxious dogs would receive huge benefit from that but even a dog who just loves to play would have so much fun on a one on one session! Our dogs received a bath before we picked them up and they came out looking great!! We also checked on the dogs through the camper cams which gives us a sense of comfort knowing they are in good hands and being able to see them play all day! I'm new to town and looking for a place to groom and day board my golden retrievers. I put in a service request, received a call. I made an appointment with a groomer, and showed up at the specified time. I was told to wait, they would be right out. They had it booked as only a foot and sanitary trim. It was supposed to be a shave on one, bath and brush on both, and foot trim on both. I was told it was entered incorrectly, they would do it, but not the shave, they didn't have time. I called after I left to see about getting the screening done while they were there, for daycare, I was told since they have the dogs information and they are currently there that they would not have to undergo further evaluation. When I picked them up I was told they don't do it like that. As for the grooming.... Their feet look terrible, probably worse than when I left them. I don't believe nails were trimmed. Overall, very bad experience. $170 for what looks like very little care taken grooming. Did not get the service i booked, and the service I was given instead was more than unsatisfactory. Very disappointing, will not be returning . All this being said, the staff was friendly at least. I wasted my money and time in the end. read more

I've brought three dogs to CBW throughout the years and I heartily agree with Jessica R's review. The staff are well-trained, friendly, and love dogs - and after almost no time at all, they remember any dog who comes to camp even on a somewhat regular basis. The dogs themselves are split into several play groups (at least three but usually four, last I knew), which are separated by size, and yes, every single dog goes through an extensive interview process before becoming a "full-time camper". The kennels are spacious and never overcrowded and are cleaned constantly, as well as being completely disinfected at the end of a dog's stay. They used to have rocks in their outdoor play areas but some time ago made the upgrade to easy-to-clean fake grass, which is just awesome. They also have weekend and holiday hours now (they didn't when I first started bringing my dogs) and honestly that just gives them another step up over other kennels. Plus you can watch your pet play on the play cams! Yes, Camp Bow Wow is pricey, but it really is worth every penny, whether you're bringing your dog to day camp or boarding them there. read more

Have used these folks for grooming of my Mom's Poodle and they did a terrific job for $50, so decided to try them for kenneling him for a trip up north for a wedding. They are very selective about the dogs they take in...they require vaccination proof and also a 2 hour free of charge visit to ensure that the dog mingles properly with others. Cameras are on the the kenneling area so you can see what is going on. Great system, process and people. read more

I have an American staffordshire terrier puppy. I like that he's welcome at Camp Bow Wow to play at the doggie camp and the star treats him well. I used to take my previous staffordshire terrier to the old location on Congaree Rd and was excited to find a new location opened. Took my Australian Shepherd to Camp Bow Wow for less than a year. At first it seemed like he was enjoying camp and most of the staff seemed relatively friendly. I had reservations at first about the number of dogs in such a small area but was reassured the staff was following guidelines and proper monitoring. A few months into taking him I get a call at work that he had gotten an injury on his ear from another dog but it just seemed like a scratch and they would keep a close watch on it till I picked him up. My Fiancé went to go pick him up and said it wasn't just a scratch, that it was a big gash on his ear and when an employee was bringing him out he started bleeding all over the floor. They proceeded to bring several towels out and gave them to my Fiancé, several employees had come out at this point. My Fiancé didn't ask for more details at the time because we just wanted to get the bleeding to stop and see about taking him to an emergency vet. I was of course furious and called for an explanation. They said that both dogs were in the outside play area alone while all the other dogs were inside. It looked like rough play and what they think happened from the footage is that the other dog was on top of mine who was on his back and had "scratched" my dogs ear with it's paw. They noticed Blue's ear was bleeding a little and put him in a room to monitor it but said that it looked like the bleeding had stopped and let him go play again. I was told the reason it was bleeding profusely when my Fiancé went to pick him up was because Blue was shaking his head and opening up the scratch, now large gash, more. After speaking with the supervisor, I asked to not allow Blue to play with that dog going forward and if I could see the footage for myself. I never got to see the footage or confirmation that Blue and this other dog would be separated from playing together. Camp Bow Wow never offered to help with the vet bill or gave any indication that the owner of the other dog would help or was even notified of the incident. After this, I didn't take Blue back for awhile while he was healing and had already decided I wanted to look at other options. We did end up taking Blue back once a week because of our busy schedules while also keeping our eyes out for a new daycare. I really did enjoy some of the staff members at Camp Bow Wow, in particular this one girl who would always talk so fondly of Blue and send me pictures regularly of him at daycare. This was one of the reasons I decided to give them another chance. Not too many months after, a staff member at the front desk one morning asked me "We've been noticing odd behavior from Blue, are there any changes in his home environment?". I though this was an odd question to ask so I asked for further clarification on what she was indicating. She then said "Are there any arguments between you and your fiancé, is there a new person around Blue , etc. " I said no and Blue hasn't been acting any differently at home. They then proceeded to tell me they think Blue has anxiety because he is consistently barking at daycare and recommended putting him on medication. I asked how long they have noticed Blue showing these signs and they said for MONTHS. I was upset that this hadn't been brought to my attention sooner because I love my dog more than anything and had I known he had been showing any sign of anxiety in that environment I would've taken him out of daycare and never looked back. It's interesting how they assumed that his symptoms must be from his home life and not from their facility where they let dogs continuously hump/rough play/ get aggressive without stopping the behavior or separating them. Stop caring more about peoples money and care more about a healthy/safe environment for the dogs. read more

Brought my 9mo' old South African Boerboel mastiff here for a bath. What groomer doesn't include nail trim and charges extra for it??? Never heard of such a thing. He is short haired and the *owner* said ALL dogs get brushed. OK fine then. But when I picked my boy up he was literally covered in loose hair. Since I was a bather for a year at a dog groomers I know if you brush a dog there isnt loose hair floating all over the surface of a dog after brushing. There is however a massive amount of loose hair laying on top after rigorous towel drying. We've all been there at home so we know! To add the girl on the phone said it would be $35 plus $10 for nail trim, so $45 altogether. But when I got there to pick up my dog the *owner* said it was $65. When I told him my original phone quote, he asked me who I spoke with? Um how do I know, they didnt say... In fairness to him he honored the quote. But when I asked about another dog I have a 52lb pit/hound, he quoted me $45-65. Now how can a $52lb dog be $65 if a 90lb dog is $65? He just says, Well it depends on what the dog needs. I said, The dog needs a bath and a nail trim, how much? He then repeated, It just depends... Is he iNSANE? Making up prices as they go along? This guy talked to me like I was a complete moron. I will not be going there again nor will I recommend anyone go there as they make up prices for dogs as they see fit and then dont even do (brushing) what they say they will do. And this to the Owner specifically...If you do not pay close attention to what your employees are doing and turning out as the end result, you will not make it in this area of the Powdersville/Piedmont area. Java was not very cooperative with anyone when he needed a nail trim or a bath. The training staff at Camp Bow Wow worked with him and now it's one of his favorite activities! The staff are very friendly from the drop off to pick up. The cameras to view pets in the play areas add an extra layer of security. Because our pet is older and gets anxious, I called several times during our trip to check on him. The staff was cheerful, informative and gracious every time. Phoebe is a very energetic Labradoodle who needs lots of play time so she goes there for play time once a week and had taken level 1 & 2 obedience classes. Lindsey and Patty are great fun, energetic trainers with good skills. We will be going back for level 3 when they start back in Jan. I took my dog today for the first time. I watched on the web cam as he stood by the door and just moped around. He is usually a very active dog and loves other dogs. But, the most disturbing thing was the way he panted all the way home. When we arrived home, he went straight to his water bowl and drank so much that he made himself sick. That indicates to me that water was not freely offered. I also was disappointed in the lack of activity - the workers just walked around. No toys, no climbing structures, just a concrete floor and a maze of walls. We will not be returning to Camp Bow Wow. read more

Wish I could give a review of the actual care of our pup, but all I have is the ridiculous experience of attempting to "interview" our pup. I was called about 3pm on Wednesday for a 7.30 or 8am interview time on the following day (Thursday). As I wasn't sure if that was possible, I declined opting to call back the following week. Fast forward to Thursday morning around 7am I called to verify if the 8am time was still available (we were having our house sprayed for bugs and didn't want the pup there). It was so I said we'd take it. I explained that I didn't have the vaccinations and was told to come on in, they could get them via phone. I arrived with completed paperwork in hand and completed only to find out that they had NOT called for vaccinations and that since our vet wasn't open until 9 I was out of luck. They did attempt to call and left a vm on the vets phone, but I had already made the drive over under the assumption everything would be fine. They did verify that the rabies shot was up to date from the groomer, but that was all they had recorded. After politely expressing the frustration of the staff member giving the wrong information, I was just given a "sorry, I didn't know they weren't open" and told they would do nothing. They would not even start the process of interviewing (it was 8.40) by this time because they didn't have the records. I more than understand and agree with the policy of needing the vaccines, what I don't agree with nor appreciate is the staff giving out incorrect information and being unwilling to even begin to work with a new client. Adding to the frustration the "manager" didn't bother to even speak with me, she walked out front to have a smoke with another employee, leaving the other staff to continue talking with me while checking in another guest. read more

I am shocked that Camp Bow Wow Greenville has a 1-star rating. My yellow lab has been going to Camp Bow Wow Greenville since she was 3 months old - and she loves it! Here are some of my favorite things about this place: -- All dogs have to "interview" before being accepted, which means aggressive dogs are out -- Staff stays on you about having up-to-date vaccinations, which means healthy, happy dogs are in -- They say my dog's name when we walk in the door. They seem genuinely happy to see her - and she's happy to see them -- I can just tell my dog loves it here - she runs to the camp staff, wiggling her tail and wearing a huge silly grin -- The staff is overall great. Sure, there are a couple that are less than awesome (could be they're more into dogs than people?) - but MOST of them rock -- Staff asks detailed questions before each overnight boarding - her feeding times, treats, meds, emergency contact, any special circumstances. Every time. -- They have a capacity and they don't overfill the place - so I know my dog is getting ample space, plenty of attention and just the right amount of stimulation. If they're full, then they'll put you on a wait list and call if a spot opens up -- They have webs cams everywhere, so I can check in on mine. The iPhone app is 99 cents well spent -- They have grassy outdoor space - fake grass that's easy to clean. Most other places have cement, while some have rocks. I'm into the fake grass - easier on the feet and more pleasant all the way around. In the hotter months, they'll throw a few doggie splash pools outside This month, I moved away from Greenville and back to Atlanta - and I've been leaning on Yelp much more these days, beyond my usual restaurant recs. Today, I've been combing through reviews trying to find the best doggie daycare in Atlanta for my pup. Because I was so happy with Camp Bow Wow Greenville, I thought I'd read their reviews to see what similarities I could look for in my search. So that's how I got here. And I am STILL shocked that Camp Bow Wow Greenville has a 1-star rating. This place is great - I highly recommend it. I'm not sure what happened with the other two reviewers, but my experience has been wonderful over the last 2+ years. We came to this area to visit our son who is at Springbrook, an autism resideNiall facility. I contacted Camp Bow Wow about keeping our dog while we took our son off campus for a couple of hours. I emailed the application and required vaccination records a week prior to our appointment and even checked in with camp bow wow 5 days before our arrival, asking them to assure me that everything was in place. They confirmed that all was set and good to go. Upon our arrival though, the lady at the front desk refused to allow our dog in, stating that the shot records were not complete. I explained that I had double checked this earlier since we were driving in from 6 hours away. She proceeded to blame the incomplete records on myself and the vets office rather than own up to camp bow wow's utter failure. We left with our dog in tow and no idea how to rectify our unexpected situation. This facility was an absolute disappointment and at no time did they own up to their lack of accountability. read more

We've used Camp Bow Wow multiple times, for single and weekend overnights. The fee rate seems reasonable, and the dog leaves happy and relaxed - a significant characteristic given she's a basenji. We've used the grooming service a couple of times, with good results. Also, their mobile app is useful: it allows streaming video check-in on the individual dog play areas (arranged by size), allowing you to check how your dog is doing. Useful! read more

Lindsay is the best! She came to our home to work with our DD who was very anxious and scared of new things. After the in house session we took the level 1 class and she is a new dog now. Very happy and confident! Lindsay was great with her and very patient and attentive to what DD needed to become a confident well behaved dog! We will definitely be back for level 2 class! Camp Bow Wow is the most amazing place to send your dog. I have been sending our dog Charlie since he was 5 months old and they never cease to tire him out. All I have to say to him is "Charlie, you wanna go to camp?" and he is running around excited at my house. Every member of the staff is friendly and knowledgeable and I have never had a problem with them. Even when we were having issues at home with Charlie, we worked with their trainer Patty and she helped us immensely. I would recommend Camp Bow Wow (and do) to anyone and everyone. read more

They have done such a great job with my Harry in basic obedience and my little Abby to overcome her anxiety about nail trimming (which I had thought was impossible). The camp counselors are awesome. They really keep a close watch on the dogs to verify both their safety and health. The interview process makes sure the temperament of the dogs is suitable for play. They segregate the dogs by size for safety. I am so pleased with them. read more

My step-father passed away in August and my mother moved in with me afterwards. She has a 2 year old Great Pyrenees, Angus. Although my Chow mix, Bryson is easy going, unfortunately, my 7 year old Lab mix, Buford, did not like Angus and would try to attack him. We were at a crossroads and feared we would have to get rid of one of the dogs which we loved so much. Thanks to Camp Bow Wow Trainers, Patty and Lindsay, we were taught how to modify our behavior in order to modify our dogs' behaviors. Now, we are all one big happy family! I don't normally write reviews, but I think this is important. I just got off the phone with someone at Camp Bow Wow. My dog had never been there before and they were unable to accommodate him this weekend, which is fine. However, what is not fine is how the woman on the phone handled the conversation. She was snide, superficial and rude. If someone is going to be working with the public they should at the very least be polite. Poor marks for this place. read more
