A few months ago I was looking to refinance my townhome in the city since I saw that rates dropped substantially from my initial purchase 4years ago. Let me tell you, I have been following Yelp since it came about, and this is the first time I was ever compelled to register in order to give Camilo a 5 star rating. My girlfriend and I were in the market for a condo each in Las Vegas. Well, we put an offer on our favorite ones last May 2014. We are both physicians with great credit and income. We are 1099 traveling physicians. It gets more complicated. Now why would it get more complicated? The properties are Non-Warrantable High Rise Condos. OMG, no one likes to finance these types of properties. To make it even more complicated, being 1099 physicians, our tax structure is rather complicated. So, we first went with BBVA, "oh yeah, clean approvals.." day before closing in July, sorry, we can't do these loans. Bummer! Next bank, "Oh yeah, shouldn't be a problem.." 20 days later, "Sorry, we don't want to do non-warrantable condos..." Well, by this time we were in extreme anxiety, will we lose our deposit? Will we have to resort to taking out an extremely high interest hard money loan? Well, call it a miracle, our real estate agent was in her office expressing her worry over this contract over the phone and her colleague overheard her conversation. She told her to call Camilo Rodriguez at the First National Bank. She relayed the info to me. I immediately called like a refugee seeking asylum. I explained the whole situation and my tax structure to Camilo. He was extremely professional and found him to be very keen, clever and logistically savvy. We needed to close in two weeks!!! After he reviewed our packet, he called me back and said, "you're not going to lose your deposit, and you're definitely not getting a hard money loan." "We'll do it." I couldn't believe it, I didn't believe it until the day of closing! Camilo and his team were extremely sensitive, professional, and quick to close us. His bank can offer many different loan programs to fit each need. He also thinks two steps ahead and tries to get the best possible product. I used Camilo at the Federal Saving Bank to buy my first investment property a few months back. I was intrigued because Camilo not only brokered loans but also has investment properties himself which was exactly what I wanted. When I first reached out to him, he was great and very responsive. He sat down with me after office hours and explained the basic process, the different types of loans available, etc. Throughout the loan process, Camilo and his team explained what was going on and what I was signing. There was one hippup in the appraisal process however. The first appraisal came in lower than then agreed upon purchase price which caused problems. During this confusion, my rate lock period expired a few different times. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that I felt I could have been made more aware of the costs and fees associated with these rate lock extensions and other fees that ended up being charged as a result of this situation that I wasn't completely made aware of. None of them were substancial but I am a control freak and want to know where every penny of mine is going. However, having said that, the Federal Saving Bank appears to be flexible in unique situations like this and committed to getting deals done. read more
