Cameron Toll is pretty rubbish really, but is dragged back from the brink by the Sainsbury's there, which is hee-owge. Outside it just looks like a 60s monstrosity that is waiting to be knocked down, for the good of humanity. Inside it is slightly less offensive, but there really is not much there, apart from the supermarket. Yes there are a few chains, notably a relatively big W H Smith's, a New Look and a few travel agents, and the occasional 1 off store like Gimme Gizmo and Paperbox, but nothing else of value. There are a load of those stores that perpetually have a sale on, with everything either at least 70% off, or chucked in the bargain bucket. Really though, nearly all these shops can be found on Prince's Street or in the St. James' centre, which offers you a lot more alternatives as well. The only real good point is the Sainsbury's, it is massive, and the only one within a reasonable distance from the centre, unless you want to faff about with a load of buses to get to Asda. For many of the students who live in Tesco Metro, this makes a nice change, as it is easy to get to and the quality and choice of food is infinitely better than Tesco. Unless you are here to do your groceries there is no real point so just head into town to find similar, but better shops

Sainsbury's is as big and strong as ever, although they've closed the cafe recently, apparently Starbucks or some gourmet burger section coming?

There is a large Cineworld cinema, Pizza Hut, Nandos, a casino, Virgin Active health club, bars, bingo, bowling alley and a kiddies soft play center. I actually quite like Fountain Park because it is right on my doorstep and it has everything I need for an evening on entertainment. There is a large car park so you can drive here and if you use the cinema or other businesses your car park ticket is validated making the parking free. Free parking in Edinburgh is a bonus! You can go for something to eat and know what to expect in the chain restaurants before heading off to the cinema/bowling alley/casino. It's perhaps not as large as some of the out of town complexes you see in the likes of Glasgow, but it does have everything you need and something for everyone.

Anyway, I feel that this place is largely for the students living around this area as it has a massive Cineworld, a Pizza Hut, a Nando's and a Tenpin bowling alley among its facilities available. The place felt quite empty and depressing the last time I was in and there seemed to be a lot of empty space between the bowling alley and the cinema, with the main concourse functioning as an extended hallway to get between the two. There is an underground car park which is free for the first four hours but if you stay any longer than that, then you will have to pay money for every extra hour you stay there. I did like the bowling alley, and the Pizza Hut was pretty decent when we went to it so I suppose this place serves its purpose with one of the only casual bowling alleys in the Edinburgh area. I hope I will enjoy Cineworld as it seems significantly cheaper than Odeon and Vue.

This particularly large Primark opened last December and honestly, I can't get enough of it! Every…read moretime I go to Fort Kinnaird, this place is usually my first stop so that I can avoid the afternoon chaos later on. The layout is much better than its sister store on Princes Street and since it is all on one level, getting around is pretty easy as you can see everything from when you enter and you won't have to negotiate any of those dreaded escalators that make you go ALL the way round to the other side of the sales floor to get to the next one. The men's department is an adequate size and is conveniently located near the front of the store. The only downside to this, is that you will have to walk all the way to the back of the shop if you want to try something on as that is where the fitting rooms are located. Speaking of the fitting rooms, they are modern, bright and have never been subjected to horrific queues when I've visited. (Unlike the shambolic Princes Street store.) One thing that annoys me is the checkouts. They are also at the back, on either side (one set in lingerie and the other in homewares) and usually have slow moving long queues. This is not ideal when all you are buying is a t shirt, a pair of jeans and some sweets. Another thing that bugs me is the till staff. I know it must be horrible working 9-5 in Primark under the harsh fluorescent lighting and with demanding customers but a smile would be appreciated. It could be stocked a bit better and they should assign more workers to the checkouts to cut down queues but other than that, this store provides a less chaotic experience to the city centre store and is much better in many ways.

So this is a fairly small store with everything all on one level but stocks everything you need,…read morefrom clothes, homeware, lingerie, to kids and mens clothing too, the staff are lovely and helpful and all do a great job. There is only one complaint however in that you have to leave your basket if you want to try anything on which makes things a bit of a hassle. Apart from that well worth a look and with mcdonalds right next door what could be better.

We headed on in and was agast by the sheer size of the place and it's oh so modern. It's on 3 levels and has a Vue cinema and I hear it has a boat somewhere, not in it I think?! Well it has a shop relating to it anyway. We were there about after 4.30ish on Monday so it was pretty quiet. It looked like it contained the usual high street shops with a few added extras i.e. The Whiskey Shop & Zamboo = a shop selling very weird looking vases. We searched for a food court of some sort but all we came across was what looked like Mitchelin star restaurants. It looked shut but according to the website it's open 'till 10pm. It just wasn't looking like the sort of eating establishment we had in mind, well one with food would've be good for a start. Anyhoo I ain't dissing the place as I only experienced it a little but if I'm ever back out this way I'm sure I'll pop in.

This is probably my worst retail nightmare and I'll avoid this place at all costs. There is seriously nothing special about this place, just a whole bunch of chain stores that you could find anywhere else in Edinburgh. Or Scotland. Or purchase items from online.
