Stopped by here today with the intention of picking up a new hobby travel lens. I was pleased with how big, organized, and clean the location was compared to other mom and pop camera shops--it's a gorgeous store. But unfortunately I was accosted by a super aggressive salesperson who opted to berate me for shopping on a budget and criticize me for asking about some of the used lenses they had. Ended up not even asking the cost of the lens I was looking for and left empty handed. Will pop into B&H this weekend for my needs. Seems like a nice store if you can avoid the incredulous hulk. read more

This is a beautiful New York style store located in right here in Long Island in Old Bethpage. This is the perfect place for a photography enthusiast or professional. I am a professional photographer and often need things quickly for studio shoots. There are very conveniently located in Bethpage not far from NY135 or the Northern State Parkway. I found my way to Camera Land and could not be any happier. Since it's a long time family business I was able to reminisce with the owner. It was truly fun to speak about the old days in the business. This trip was to pick up a few items for the studio prior to a head shot session. They had an ample supply fo savage background paper and a frame to hold a reflector. They cater to a wide variety of audiences here so you can get easily started in photography here as well as advanced items. They also offer many classes on-site in their classroom, again for the amateur or advanced photographer. Their knowledgeable and friendly team has always been extremely helpful to me. Poor customer service. Mediocre shop overall. They sent me the wrong item and are being difficult trying to get a refund.

Jeff is excellent! My PowerShot's focus was acting funny. He walked me through what the problem possibly was. Step by step...solved! Easy peezy! No charge! In 10 minutes I was done! Friendly, funny. Puts you at ease. Knowledgeable. Personable attention. It was my first time visit. I will definitely come by again to the Sat. morning chat! They've been around since 1957! read more

Bought a pair of defective Leica binoculars (manufacturer agreed most likely defective) went back to store swap out. Didn't like the new pair. Policy is if you don't like will give refund. Good luck with that. I was told they sold defective product as an open box at a loss, poor customer. Then charge me 10% restock fee and give me a check. Obviously they didn't have any cash to give back. Then I guess return for refund only applies to the defective pair. Then Jeff salesman explains the law about refunds. This is a very late review. I was here maybe a year ago and was in the area again for the dance studio in the same shopping center. Maybe I am the only one with a bad experience here but my goodness what an ATTITUDE from the tall man with the glasses (presumably the owner) when inquiring about bulk pricing for some equipment. A whiny rant about how expensive your costs were- TOTALLY UNWARRANTED. I just wanted the damn final price, I wasn't even asking for a discount. You Mister Attitude, so lucky you're the only camera shop within like a five miles distance. Best of LI my effin' ass. read more

I found 4 old rolls of film and brought them in for development. Complete rip off total 79.00 and some of the pictures are blacked out and not in focus. terrible. read more

I ordered a Meopta Rifle Scope in June of 2021. It is now January 2022. Clearly they are unable to ship some of the items they sell. They don't answer emails or provide any written status on the order. They are, however, cheerful and yet ineffective on the phone. I won't be doing business with CameralandNy again. read more

Just had a one hour private photography class with Jeff. I completely enjoyed it. He spent over an hour with me going over various parts of my particular camera as well photography overall. I hope to try some of the classes they run in the future. In the past I needed a camera sensor cleaned and they didn't even charge me. I will definitely look into future purchases in the store based on other reviews. read more

I went in today looking to possibly update my tripod. I brought the tripod I purchased a few years ago. As a rookie photographer, it wasn't in the best shape. Jeff showed me a more updated one of the same make that was on sale. They were able to take the old one, giving me credit towards my new one. Left a very happy customer!!!!! read more

Store is amazingly clean and organized, very bright and easy to navigate. As soon as I walked in I was greeted and helped by a friendly staff member. He helped me find exactly what I was looking for (a very unique hard to find tripod part) and even let me test it to make sure it was perfect. Customer service was outstanding. So this review has been a bit of an evolution for me and I've waited to post it till I was satisfied I could give a complete and fair review. I'll start by saying this : This day and age, a person can get pretty much buy whatever they want from multiple resources. Everyone has to offer competitive pricing. For me , it's how I get treated after a company has my money that matters. Camera land is five stars all the way in this department I am happy to say! I bought a very expensive range finder on Amazon that Cameraland was selling. I'll try to keep this short as possible by saying that due to the description restraints that Amazon places on items, this item was not what I was expecting and a certain key feature on the range finder did not seem to work at all. Camera land ( and a very special thank you specifically to Neil ) went way above and beyond to help me fix the issue. Keep in mind, the circumstances were such that they didn't have to help me but chose to offer amazing customer service ,that is rarely seen in the world today, to quickly rectify the problem. Working with Neil was actually pleasant! He was always fast to return my calls and emails and is a fun and funny guy to chat with on the phone . He always did exactly what he promised and did it quickly. I really can't say enough great things about him . Just super quality customer service above and beyond. I live in Oregon and these guys could have easily just ignored my problem and I'd have been helpless. I'm on the market for a high end spotting scope and I can tell you that I will be defiantly buying from camera land. No reason to price shop. Excellent service! I found Cameraland NY through the Fuji X-Forum when I was looking to buy an X-Pro 2. Not only did they have a much better deal than Adorama or B&H but the best of all is their very fast response on questions and personal attention. A delay in shipment (not their fault) was solved by upgrading to overnight shipping with no extra charge. Emails got answered within minutes and it seems this is one of the rare places were customer is still important. I highly recommend this place!
