If I could give more than 5 stars I would. There are very few places in the world where people help you for the sake of helping another person. I had just received a new 'used' lens. It's a Vivitar Series 1 90mm f/2.5, my Bokina. When it arrived from the person I bought it from, it kind of felt like it rocked back and forth quite a bit so naturally I went to ChatGPT for an answer. It gave me a diagnosis and a few references for shops to help me get it fixed. I contacted Steve after a few others said they couldn't or would need to inspect it before providing me a quote. I sent him a video of the issue. He replied back saying just ship it and he'd take care of it! There are not many people in life that will help you out like that, whether they know you or not. I recently purchased from Steve at Camera Clinic on a Ebay. It was for a large, hulking camera lens (see attached photo) Canon 400mm 2.8 L lens that I will be using for the coming sports season this fall. I have been day dreaming about this glass every day for over a year now (Obsessed? Mayhaps....) and it's finally mine! Conflict of this story was Steve and his friend had already sent the lens to me, anticipating a smooth return on my end of the transaction. But that wasn't the case here. Paypal had put a hold on my account and was unable to wire any funds until I had cleared a laundry list of restrictions. Understandable. Brand new account, zero purchase history, trying to send over a giant put-Eric-in-jail-if-he-don't-pay-back wad of cash. I had been working diligently to fix all of this. I couldn't keep honest people like Steve and his partner waiting. So I call Steve to talk to him personally regarding the problem and he was very polite to me on the phone. Despite the current situation, he asked if I had tried out the new lens and I replied, "I would like to but not until all of this blows over". He said he and his friend were patient about the whole ordeal and I think it was his polite way of telling me (or at least on behalf of the friend) to hurry up, truth be told. Me, under so much stress since I first found out the funds dind't go through, was already making my peace with this hulking bit of glass. I FINALLY had had my hands on it but was probably going to have to send it back to Steve. But lo and behold! All the work I had spent to get my new Paypal account back on track and BAM!!! The transaction for the purchase no longer says "Under Investigation" but "Completed". The LENS IS MINE! YES! Although I am from Honolulu and have never been to Camera Clinic, I will vouch for Steve and say this guy is the real deal. Very interesting bit of history on his beginnings as a fighter pilot mechanic to a camera tech, working for Nikon but specializing in Canon. Not only was he honest with certain discrepancies that may have turned away Ebayers (scratches at the front of the lens, neither on the aspherical elements and can't see on images anyway) but he also included a lens hood, which wasn't part of the original auction. (Canon discontinued making this lens hood and it would cost me at least $500+ extra if found it USED on the internet). Also, Steve and his partner spent the extra $ out of their own wallet so the lens would make it safe and sound to my Oahu doorstep, via UPS. Very grateful Steve! Very sorry for inconvenience I have caused you and Jimmy but I'm so, so very glad it worked out in the end. As for all the gear I've been working hard to get, with this lens (all 17lbs, almost 20 with my camera and grip attached), I am now complete. I've had to bring my camera in for repair twice and this is the ONLY place in town I would trust. I originally brought in my Canon DSLR in to be serviced for a problem, but the problem wouldn't repeat while it was in the shop. He kept it and did a cleaning on it and recommended I bring it back in if the problem occurred again. After only a few weeks with it the problems began again. This time, after dropping it off, the problem manifested itself while in the shop. The owner rec. I ship it to Canon to fix because he was uncomfortable fixing the problem in the shop. It required opening up the "guts" of the camera and sometimes that can cause more problems than the one are you are trying to fix. He was extremely helpful and quick and didn't charge me ANYTHING to evaluate the problem. His price for the cleaning was fair and was completely very promptly. He's courteous and knowledgeable.... an asset to have here in Reno. I will never go anywhere else -- even for just a cleaning!! read more

Steve owner of camera clinic is a true life saver or at least a trip saver. After buying a new Sony A6000 camera our first DSLR for our vacation we were initially overwhelmed with all its features and info displayed on the viewfinder. We were also 600 miles from home and 60 miles from any camera store. Online we had two choices for help a camera store and Stevens Camera Clinic . I called both and after speaking with Steve for just a moment I knew he was our man. My friend and I made the drive to Reno that afternoon hoping he would not be too busy to help us. Steve dropped everything he was working on and proceeded to answer every question we could think of and spoke in a manner that we could understand. His knowledge of the camera and photograph were next to none he even gave us formulas on how to shoot different shots. His enthusiasm was contagious and my friend and I left so excited with our new found knowledge and a sense of relief that we had made a great purchase. Took my Nikon D750 and Tamron 15-30mm in to have a dust problem sorted out. Tamron told me the dust was within the inner elements of the lens, and would cost me more that $350 for a complete tear down and cleaning. I brought my gear in to Steve, and asked for a quote for the same work. After a quick gasp at Tamron's diagnosis, he explained it was VERY unlikely, and was more likely stubborn dust on the sensor. Steve was able to get the gear cleaned, and back to me very quickly, which is very very important to me as my daily driver/workhorse. I just started editing a bunch of new shoots since the cleaning and everything looks GREAT! Steve saved me both the cost, and time it would have taken Tamron to complete their estimate, AND now I save time in cleaning every image in post! Bent a couple CF pins on my XTi and took it to a local place to try and get it fixed- no such luck. They told me that they would have to send it in and it would cost almost $300! Needless to say, I didn't have that kind of money just laying around, so I was a little bummed. Started researching online to see if they were trying to rip me off and came across Steve's add on eBay- $85! I was still a little hesitant to just ship my camera off to some random place, but I was headed to Reno anyway, so I figured I would drop it off in person and make sure it wasn't a hoax. I've taken my Canon cameras to Camera Clinic to be cleaned on several occasions, and I also asked Steve to fix one of my lenses after it fell off a chair. I bought a used Canon EOS 50D online locally and was looking forward to the whole DSLR experience. Had the camera 2 weeks when I got ERR 50. Not good. All my internet research said most likely a shutter malfunction. Bummer. So I started searching for cost to fix and where to fix. I came across Camera Clinic and decided to give it a try from all the great reviews I was reading. (And he would do the work on site without sending it out, if possible.) Was not disappointed! Took my camera in and he diagnosed the bad shutter. The price he quoted for fixing it was almost half of what I'd researched online. Yay!! Took it in on a Friday, and he said it would be ready by the following Friday as he had to order the shutter. He called Wednesday and said the camera was ready!! He had replace the shutter and cleaned the camera. I even got a 90 day warranty on the new shutter! Nice. Steve was also kind enough to give me a few pointers and explanations as I am such a newbie to this DSLR camera. (35mm was my life!) Filters, cleaning, and why the pictures would look different using my 35mm lense as opposed to a DSLR lense. Very knowledgeable and kind to put up with all my questions!! Thank you!! I needed a replacement stock Sony a6000 lens and bought a repaired one from Steve through ebay at a fair price. Upon finding out that he owns a camera repair business with excellent Yelp reviews, I gave him a call to see if I could sell him my used/old a5000 and broken kit lens. He offered to inspect those items for free and if I wasn't happy with the offered price, he would ship it back to me at no charge. The price was more than reasonable and he quickly paypal'd me the payment. I essentially sold some no longer used and broken items to him without having to deal with the hassles of ebay. About half a year later, that stock lens I purchased from Steve suffered a drop and I ended up buying a new lens while on vacation. When I returned, I contacted him again and shipped him the broken lens to sell to him so that he can eventually repair and sell it. Steve knows all about these Sony mirrorless cameras and has been a pleasure to deal with and talk about cameras with. I left the camera with him and he called me back a few days later (much earlier than expected) and told me my camera was ready for pick up. Contrary to the review on 02/26/2013, I am pleased to say that the Camera Clinic is very much alive and kicking. She must have gone when the shop was closed or Steve was out of town (note, he's open from 11am-5pm on weekdays). I have to say that the photographers in Reno/Sparks and surrounding areas are very lucky to have such an amazing camera repairman in their midst. Forget sending your stuff to Canon or Nikon repair centers and spending tons of $$ on lens and camera repair. Steve is your man. His turnaround time is super fast, too, which is a major plus in the crazy busy life we pro photogs like to lead. I could take my whole trove of 3 slr bodies and 7 lenses to Steve, and he'll have them all cleaned and inspected pretty much by the end of the day!!! And if there is a repair that is beyond his technical capabilities (e.g, electrical repairs), he's more than happy to send your gear in to the appropriate manufacturer-approved facilities at very little extra charge to you. Earlier in August I was on a road trip and realized that the sensor of my D700 had gotten totally filthy. Many of my pictures were ruined. I needed to find someone who could clean my sensor if I had to enjoy taking pictures during my vacation. As we left Yosemite and were driving towards Reno, NV, I used my Iphone to search on Yelp for camera repair shops. It was about 7PM and Steven picked up the phone. I asked if he could clean my sensor while I waited, the next morning, before we left Reno to continue our trip. He said he did not go to work until 11 AM, but said to bring the same night as he was going to be there until midnight. We got there around 9PM, Steven was there as promised. Not only he did a superb job at cleaning the sensor, he also showed me and explained what he was doing. Meanwhile we had a nice chat.
