Rock 30 Games - Bismarck Store Front

Summary Review. Rock…read more30 Games may come across as a bit of a schizophrenic store due to the variety of products (disc golf, DVDs, video games) but it is anything but. Being the only way, outside of pawn shops, that an individual can track down a classic movie, video game or system. A friendly staff and locally owned makes this place even more desirable. Long Review. Way back in 2003, Rock 30 Games (Rock 30 from here on out) took Bismarck by storm. While the location was a bit tricky to get to, and you could easily pass by the place if you didn't look for it, Rock 30 offered something that Bismarck wasn't familiar with. A video game store that carried a wide variety of both consoles and video games dating all the way to Atari. Further more, the store was casually run by a gentleman named Andrew along with some other great individuals that helped out. There was a charm to the whole place, despite the original store being made out of a previous home, that gave it a memorable experience. Combined with friendly service and fair pricing, Rock 30 was the place to go to either buy, trade in or sell. Flash forward, and Rock 30 has grown into a company with several stores spanning several cities in North Dakota alongside an ever-evolving concept. Aside from this history lesson, and the reason I continue to shop at Rock 30, is how friendly the place is. Rock 30 isn't interested in trying to get you to reserve a product, or subscribe to something. They're all about you finding what you're looking for, and seeing what they can do to help you along that way. While still being a business, they're more about bringing back a casual-yet-professional experience that seems to be lost in the sea of corporations. I actually go out of my way to mail products from my home in Arizona back to Bismarck whenever I plan on going into Rock 30 because they offer by far some of the best prices for trading in products. What may be a trade in? It's the act of taking a product that they'll accept, and trading it in either towards cash (if it is an option) or towards something else in the store. Since selling things online is time consuming, I like the option of being able to still rely on Rock 30 to offer me a fair price and in return collect anything I may need in their incredible library of product. Which leads me to probably the best point of Rock 30. The depth of product. Rock 30 may not have a very large store, but the amount of material they have in their database or that they can get it (at the time or this review they could still order in products for customers) is astonishing. While it generally is more of a gamble if you'll get a complete product or not, they guarantee it to be working and will do whatever necessary should any complications arise. Add in a repair station for video game consoles, a disc buffering station to repair any minor damage your video games/CDs/DVDs/Blurays may suffer and Rock 30 seems to do absolutely everything. There's no reason to not give Rock 30 a shot.

I love rock 30! Always have! Their customer service is great and they are always kind / helpful.read more

A book hoarder's paradise - be ready to spend a lot of time in here!…read more Look, I love me some unique and privately owned bookstores. But this place was just B-A-N-A-N-A-S. I have never seen anything like it! When you step inside and hear those little bells jingle jangle on the door, you feel like you're stepping into Harry Potter land. I have never, and I mean EVER, seen so many books in one place in my entire life. They were stacked, shoved in front of one another, floor to ceiling, and just EVERYWHERE. Imagine stepping into one of those houses on Hoarder's...but instead of trash and dead animals, it's books. That was this place. Not joking, there was a WALKWAY built into the books. The employee there did not even know I was in there because the books shielded me from view! I'm sure you could find just about anything you wanted in here (they actually do cover quite a few genres), but you'd have to make a commitment to sort through everything, because there's absolutely no rhyme or reason to the books except for the genre corners they inhabit. I would have sifted through some books and spent longer in there, but I'm not kidding, I had a panic attack from the claustrophobia (and heat) and had to leave. Prices seem decent, and I do appreciate some creaky wooden floorboards.

Happened to walk by on our way to lunch, and loved this charming and quirky place. Books are piled…read moreeverywhere, so walking around is a maze. Quite an experience. Unlike most used bookstores that mostly have modern books, the books here fully range from old (early 1900s) to new-ish. Lots of fun old treasures from the 1950s, etc. But there are so many books, it's hard to keep them organized, so be prepared to dig through piles for random discoveries. It's a lot of fun, and prices are very cheap. Owner is obviously in it for the true love of books, not making money, so please go support this special place! It would be a shame to lose this treasure!
