We have used CHC twice. Once for my father as he was dying from cancer 10 years ago. And then again for my mother after being discharged from the hospital after a fall last year. With my mom being 80 during the time of Covid, we were concerned about folks coming in that could easily be exposed to others. Due to Mom's failing memory, we had security cameras setup and could easily & regularly monitor her and her caregivers. We could verify that they wore masks, gloves, and practiced good handwashing practices. We were so grateful to have the same 3 caregivers on rotation, especially with Mom's increasing dementia. They always made sure to help her to restroom, especially before leaving their shift. As parking could be a challenge in the evenings since she lived in an apartment, the evening caregiver would go out of her way to show up early to make sure that parking wouldn't causer her to be late. That's care! They would patiently listen to her tell the same stories over and over and constantly engage her. We just couldn't be happier with the care and professionalism of the CHC team and would definitely use them again. read more

As someone who is all for positive vibes, it pains me to write my very first one star review on Yelp. I am absolutely disgusted by what happened this morning involving an employee by the name of Nelly Carbajal. I was headhunted for a Coordinator position with Cambrian Homecare of Long Beach. Was encouraged to submit an application and participate in a video call the following morning (today). Mind you, I had taken time off work to research this company and be present for today's video call. I'm currently trying to make a career pivot from shipping and distribution into more administrative-based work. I was excited about this opportunity, only for my hopes to come crashing down ten minutes before the scheduled call was to occur. I'd been notified that Nelly was going to move forward with other candidates and she cancelled the call. I was left bewildered and infuriated. This was very tasteless and unprofessional on her behalf, considering I could have spent my time earning extra money rather than taking a half day at work. Please be more considerate of people, their time, and their circumstances. With all of the connections I've made through my volunteer work in the city of Long Beach, I'll be sure to spread negative word of mouth about this organization whenever prompted. read more

We hired them to help support my elderly mother twice a week with light tasks--bathing, vacuuming, and a few household needs. What we got was constant frustration. Caregivers would show up late, cancel last minute, or not show up at all. Communication and customer service were just as unreliable. The final straw? The last caregiver showed up 20 minutes late, listened to my wife's simple instructions, said she needed to grab something from her car... and just never came back. Completely unprofessional and frankly unacceptable. We immediately canceled the service. I would not recommend Cambrian to anyone looking for dependable home care for a loved one. read more

Their scheduling system is like something from last century; clients have to call a phone line and wait on hold (sometimes a few minutes, sometimes an hour or more). Many of the caregivers are very good. There is a lot of turnover, though. I wish they could pay their employees more; it would attract and keep quality caregivers. They seem to be understaffed overall. We've been trying to get our child's information updated, but they haven't gotten to it. Therefore, they give potential caregivers erroneous information about our child We are thankful for the service, but there is so much room for improvement. read more

My care was very shoddy. I had a caregiver named Elizabeth, who will turn 22 on August 21. I asked for bathroom to be cleaned and she ignored the bathtub and the bucket of trash. My laundry was not done well. My rugs were left up after floors were cleaned. The washing of my dishes was half-hazard. It was sad. She definitely needs more training. read more

Called for 3 hours, with someone saying " Cambrian Homecare Please Hold" then putting me on hold without ever answering. I repeated this process being left on hold from 15 to 45 minutes before giving up after 3 hours. Often my daughter is sent caregivers that are rude, sitting on their phone the entire shift, ignoring my adult autistic daughter and her needs. Refusing to give her meds, refusing to assist with tolieting, changing her clothes, light housekeeping, taking out trash, washing her clothes,cooking, providing companionship etc. Insult gives way to injury , if you dare to complain! As the parent of a nonverbal adult, the parent is then blamed for being the problem and told you are asking caregivers to care for you, not the client. Quality Assurance does NOT ask , listen or try to find out what caregivers are actually doing or NOT DOING, but instead you are lectured on what they are Not responsible for! There are some excellent caregivers that they employ, but what is most frustrating is they take NO Responsibilty, when problems occur and will repeatedly send out caregivers that you have filed complaints against! read more

One of many reasons a provider such as Cambrian exists is to assist family in need. Even their owner, Rhiannon Acree, said the following on their website "With Cambrian, you have a caring and capable team ready to get the job promptly done well". Unfortunately, our experience didn't even come close. We tried many times and had been failed many times. Each time we call to provide feedback and share our concern, we're being brushed off and there is zero sense of ownership amongst the staff members. In At Home subcontracted Cambrian to provide me home care services. The very first person they sent to me did not seem experienced, and while I slept due to prescriptions I'd been given, she damaged my townhome, left early without completing a simple task, and without telling me she'd broken the toilet in the guest bathroom, causing it to flood unabated. Two days later I discovered the flood, saw it had made its way into the walls and hallway flooring and generated mold. While needing care bc I am battling physical maladies and prepping for surgery, Cambrian's CEO Paul Quiroz argued with me, made repair my responsibility, and the company to this day has mistreated me and their employee's destruction of my property callously. The mold spread, the proper rectification is far more extensive than Cambrian wants to address, and while the original damage was created in August 2024, it is now almost February 2025, and Cambrian just wants me to disappear. Cambrian's negligence is soon forcing me to assign a lawyer to this awful situation while I recover from yet another surgery. Don't trust them! read more

My caregiver is wonderful but the office staff us rude. I worked health insurance for 30 years before I retired and have told my old colleagues be careful. They either don't answer their phone or put you on hold for 15 minutes or more. It all depends on who decides to answer the phone what kind of help you get. read more

Horrible company. I have a badly fractured leg and am primarily confined to bed. It took this company FOUR weeks after my discharge from the hospital to appear at my home. Thus my bedsheets were not changed, no laundry was done, and the household need -- like a clean kitchen -- were totally ignored for an entire month. It was horrible. They provided one visit after that and then said that they had failed to get authorization for more visits. My insurance company is paying for my home care. The reason they did not get an authorization is because they simply did not do the paperwork. I have contacted them over FIVE times without a response. I am now paying out of pocket what the insurance company pays to caretakers like this who never provide the services an insured is to receive. If I could give minus-stars, I would. They gave me 3 different totals of what I owed, & no sign of the credit for payments I've been making. This place needs to be investigated. There's no way to get any straight answers.I just wanted to get anyone for any amount of time so I could get chores done. They wouldn't tell me what hours someone could come, I had to give them a time in the future only to wait and then find out last minute that no one was available. Even when I would call to follow up, they would not give me an answer until it was too late. The one time I actually did get an appointment, they cancelled one hour before they were supposed to be there. I had to give up and find another service. Be careful when using Cambrian Homecare. My wife just had surgery and they confirmed that there will be a nurse to come check up on her the day after. I waited 35 minutes after the time the nurse was supposed to show up and they say that the nurse "forgot". Their attitude is that it's no big deal and the nurse will just up 4 days later. They claimed that they would work on finding somebody since the nurse "forgot" and they would call back within a few minutes. 2 hours later no word, we called again and they said they would find someone and would call back very soon. We waited 3 hours after not hearing from them, and called back. They say that they have not found anyone. They seem to have very bad communication and now my wife is fearing that no one will be there to take care of her after surgery. read more

I can't say enough good things about this company. The communication with making initial arrangements was thorough and compassionate. The caregivers were always there on time; never any absences. Although some were better than others, most were sincerely concerned about the care for both my father (in hospice) as well as my mother who was caring for him. The scheduling team readily made accommodations as necessary. The billing department is thorough and patient. It's difficult to get people to do this work for this pay, but we were very pleased with the services they provided and the compassion they had for our family. read more

I've had very kind and attendants from CHC I often find myself saying Please and Thank you perfusoly for each and every little thing that they do, as they are very compassionate, a long time ago aside from in homecare they could also accompany and take you places such as Malls, Movie Theatres, Restruants Amusment Parks, Donut ?shops and more. Been a client for a couple of months now (referred by Caregiver Resource Center) and this is our second agency. They never disappoint. They have good communication when it comes to letting you know whether you will have a caregiver or not. Kudos to Alex who has helped us in getting good caregivers to care for my grandma. Disappointed with this company. After my knee replacement, I was scheduled to have Cambrian come out Friday Nov 15,16, 17. Then again Monday - I called- someone came Tuesday, just washed my bedsheet and did dishes. Today, 9:30am and no show. I called my insurance, they called Cambrian, they promise to come out by noon. She was a no show. Then I called my insurance again, they called and Cambrian didn't know why the employee didn't show up at noon. POOR management and company. Do not TRUST this company. Their sales rep came out to take my information for my husband who needs 7 day care Well the agency never called me never returned my call and finally when it got near the day I called them they were very unprofessional and the last minute I was told they did not have any caregivers available for the times I needed them. The absolute worst for respite care. I've been a client of cambrian for 3 years now. My daughter is special needs and she use thier services. Often times the respite workers do not even show up . I've experienced them being 20, 30 or 50 minutes late. Once I returned home and thier respite provider was sleep on my couch, while my disabled daughter was in her room playing with peroxide. Cambrian is such a great place to work for, I love being a caregiver. I've gotten so close to so many children that I now consider them my little brothers and little sisters. All the kids want is to play and talk to someone else besides their family sometimes they just want to relax next to someone, even if I don't understand what they say sometimes I just continue their conversation like "wow that sounds so fun !" Or "ohh really ? And then what happened?" And they just find it so funny I love their reaction when they see that I'm trying to talk to them. The office is super nice, but understand that they also are humans & sometimes don't have the energy one day to answer you the same peppy way they've answered you before. If they make a mistake in double booking you they fix it, you can choose whichever appointment you want to take & they call and take care of the other parents appointment. There's room for advancement & you get a raise when you recommend someone and they get hired. We get paid every Friday which is the best ! If they make a mistake on your hours it's so easy to call payroll and ask them to go through the time sheets with you & they just put the hours they missed on your next pay check, everyone is really great there ! I love making a difference in the children's and parents lives, I go beyond my job responsibilities to help out both child & parent because sometimes they just need a extra hand. I worked at one time for Cambrian with the children and found that the parents would do crazy things when you went to their homes thinking it would be one child there would be two or three children there if take care of. I know that the parents of the other children were aware that they needed to pay. But they didn't. I loved children so I just did it any way. I took good care of those children while their parent's were gone. I had so many time where the parent didn't want to come back. So I had to call the office and let them know that the parent was very late and hadn't returned. One time I had to call the father of two boys, for him to come and get his children because the mother hadn't returned. and they were not staying together. So because of their problems I had a problem and I missed my other appointment. I worked for Cambrian for 11 years and had nothing but great experiences and memories there. I started off as a caregiver and worked my way up to corporate as the Quality Assurance Specialist, Busness Development Supervisor then Program Supervisor. They gave me every opportunity to learn and grow in the company and field. Rhiannon is more involved and then any owner I have ever seen. Typically the first one in the office and last one out. She challenges each employee to re-examine every situation and gives us opportunities to fix any msitakes we may have made. Management was always supportive and gave the flexibility to let us do things on our own. The company is not perfect but they make every effort to show their employees appreciation. They make every attempt to do right by the clients and will do whatever it takes to get a shift covered...Of course there were times we were unable to get some shifts covered but always tried to make up every missed visit. My Mom has been a client of Cambrian for a\most 9 years and I have never has a issue in all that time. Mom is 88 and has care 5 days a week. I personally couldn't rate this services high enough. For the first thing they give me the piece of mind knowing that someone will be there every morning to make sure she's Ok. I can't tell you how much this means to our family. The caregivers are kind, considerate and will go the extra mile when needed. I have read some of the other reviews posted and will only say this: of all the thousands of clients and caregivers associated with this company, only a few people have written bad reviews. My wheelchair bound brother has been a client of Cambrian Homecare for about 5 years now. If I could give this agency 10 stars...I absolutely would!! Its VERY difficult to find consistently good and qualified care for disabled and elderly family members. My hat is off, specifically to Paul Quiroz. Paul has been a God send to my family. Personally taking phone calls from me, answering complex questions pertaining to my brother's individual situation and care, ALWAYS providing excellent service for Chad, always being available to our family...no matter what the issue. If you are looking for a home care service, don't even consider using Cambrian Homecare - what a nightmare they are. I hired them to help with my mother who had Alzheimer's. For 24 hour care, it was $14,000 a month and what I got for that was caretakers who didn't drive, who were either very young (like 20) or very old (over 70) who didn't cook, who stole food, and who sat and watched TV all day instead of doing the job for which they were being paid. One of the things I asked was for them to let me know when a new person was being assigned - never happened - I'd call and it would be someone new. Stopped by one day at lunch to find the worker had given my mother a cold cheese sandwich - wasn't even mayonnaise on the bread because someone had apparently taken home the mayo. And again, this is what I was paying $14,000 a month for. I asked one worker if she would make a hamburger for my mother's lunch and she said "I don't know how to cook." When it's 24 hour a day service, wouldn't being able to cook be a requirement??? RUN the other way if you are considering in home care. Cambrian is an expensive JOKE. read more

I wish to thank the staff at the Long Beach Office for the care provided to my mother for the past 4 years. I found each person I dealt with to be very professional and responsive to my concerns. Specifically one of the coordinators for her help in finding just the right person for my Mother and for a quick solution to any problems I encountered. Most of all my mother's caregiver who made it possible for her to stay in her own home for as long as she did. Without Cambrian's constant care and attention, as well as their ability to work with a very difficult client, we would have had to move Mother to Alzheimer's care much sooner. The caregiver gave constant reinforcement to help Mother remain independent as long as she could; she gave more peptalks than a football coach, and subtly guided the conversations to the topic of "the move to care". Beyond all that, she stayed in frequent touch with the family. I consider that so valuable as we live so far away. Thank you and God bless you. Mother's care ended with Cambrian officialy on Tuesday, december 8th. Now she is a resident in a dementia unit in TX. Again, our family's thanks to all of Cambrian's staff in long beach.
