I don't know how to explain it, but she was gentle, but went really deep. I have an upper rib that pops out occasionally (OUCH!), and she was able to work it back in. Usually when I have work done on a particularly tough area, I cringe and can't relax, but she had me nearly falling asleep at the end. She is highly knowledgeable about anatomy and bodywork. She gave me some suggestions for adjusting my workspace and for stretches to feel better between massages. The treatment room is dark and cozy, and I'd highly recommend a treatment with her.

Miya's pressure was amazing, deep enough that I know muscles were getting worked out but also not so deep I knew id bruise. This was my first time having traditional standing massage done so I wasn't sure what to expect! The cost and what you get it's 100% worth it. I was paying the same price for a 60min elsewhere and always additional costs for hot stone. I really appreciate that this massage place it's more focused on the art or massage and the client comfort rather than how much money they can get out of you. I will 100% be back for monthly massages and recommending this place to everyone I know!

They have you fill out paperwork so everything is clear ahead of time. It really helps avoid any miscommunication and makes sure boundaries and preferences are respected. During the massage itself, they stay consistently engaged the entire hour if you choose a full session. It doesn't feel like they're just going through the motions or killing time like some places I've been to, they genuinely focus on the treatment and go all in. They also provide water afterward, which is a thoughtful touch and makes the whole experience feel even more professional and cared for because some places I've been to give no water. Overall, it's a really solid, high-quality massage experience.

In short Maybe the biggest difference I've ever seen between…read morehow nice a place looks and how good it actually is. Really great massage here in a super-humble setting. In long 7 months ago, my lovely bride had a massive stroke, and we're still working to get her mobility back to where it needs to be. After so many lifeless months, anything to get her muscles moving (even if someone else does it) helps. We've been having trouble finding massage places that accept her insurance, at least for their massage therapists (it's often the chiropractor who takes it). We decided that since the prices AND the rating here were so good, we would pay out of pocket for one and see how it goes. It's not a new building, and even the parking lot itself feels kinda worse for wear. Inside, this place is quiet and dim. Very relaxing, as advertised. Some twinkling rope lights around the acoustic sub-ceiling. There's a squishy old couch in the waiting room, and some worn wall-to-wall underfoot. The private rooms are small, and there's slow soft piano music everywhere. Lights are low everywhere. We got her set up on a table under a sheet and Leia (I hope I spelled her name correctly) went to work. She had no special training in dealing with folks with neurological problems, but knew a million ways to move joints and get flexibility and movement back. We added the hot stone massage for her feet, so she spent 120 minutes on the table. By the end she was pure jelly, just happily smiling at the ceiling. With the extra half-hour, tax, and tip, it was about $180, which is twice what I expected to spend, but it was so worth it. Driving home, she had movement in her shoulder and hand that has not been there in 7 months. Pretty amazing. She's been getting tension headaches off and on for over a week now, too, and her neck and shoulders released all of that pressure. Her hair looked quite amusing, too. :-) In fact, the place is so good she wants to keep it to herself, and thought about asking me not to review it, because it has to be 5 stars, and she doesn't want it to get overbooked. I pointed out that she might not be the only one who needed massage for more than simple relaxation, though, and she immediately said we had to get the word out.

I received a wonderful massage from Palesteen today…read more I was lucky enough to be her FIRST client since she has returned to her practice after she took almost exactly a year off due to the pandemic! I chose to receive a massage from Palesteen because her office is fairly close to my home, I felt safer and felt that it was lower risk to receive from her since I was going to be one of her first clients in about a year (I didn't know until I got there, and she told me, that I was the number one first client since she took time off!), and because of her glowing reviews here on yelp! I would like to add a glowing review of my own. I had a very good experience with Palesteen. I arrived about 10 minutes early in order to fill out my new client intake forms, which were very thorough in their scope. Palesteen was wearing a mask, and I was wearing a mask too. She wore the mask consistently and correctly (covering both her nose and mouth) throughout the entire appointment. The massage room was spotlessly clean, and Palesteen assured me that everything had been sanitized prior to my arrival. After I filled out the intake forms, Palesteen offered me hand sanitizer, which I accepted. Palesteen asked me if I had to go to the restroom prior to our massage, and I really did, so I was glad that she asked! The restroom was spotlessly clean, too. Palesteen asked if I had brought in the small plastic basket (that I had with me) as a tote to store my clothing while I received the massage. When I said yes, she made me smile by saying that was a "genius" idea that I had. :) Palesteen checked in with me a few times during the massage about the level of pressure, which was very good - firm enough to feel like it was doing something, but not too deep. During the massage I remembered to ask her to avoid/go very light pressure on my inner wrist area. When she got to my other arm, she checked in with me about which area exactly to avoid/go easy on. This made me feel comfortable and cared for. I had requested my upper forearms and my mid-back as focus areas, and Palesteen spent a good amount of time in both areas. She did good work. I haven't had a massage in months due to the pandemic, and I'm glad that I chose Palesteen as the massage therapist with whom I resumed receiving massage. I had brought in my own oil with me (a blend of almond oil, apricot kernel oil, and vanilla and citrus fragrance), and Palesteen was happy to use that oil for my massage. Draping was good, and the sheets were clean and comfortable. I loved the choice of music and the volume of music - very relaxing. Palesteen and I had a nice chat during my massage. I felt nervous since she was a new therapist for me, so I got a bit chatty. She put me at ease and made me feel comfortable in her space. I had a few moments where I gave her some feedback about the pressure in a couple of specific areas, and she was very responsive to my feedback, which I appreciated. I am a massage therapy school graduate, although I have never practiced massage professionally. I graduated from Port Townsend School of Massage in 2016. Palesteen graduated from Cortiva School of Massage in 2012. Cortiva closed its doors before the pandemic, but I know it was a good massage school, with a high quality of massage education. Palesteen seems like she really has it together. I'm pleased to recommend her to anyone who is looking for a great massage therapist in the Shoreline area.

I was traveling…read moreup to the day of the appointment, flew in on a redeye only to learn I'd accidentally scheduled the appointment for the previous day. I called as soon as I realized to apologize & rebook the following month - stating per the policy, I understood the the amount of the 90 minute massage had to be invoiced; but that it could also be used towards the next massage. A gentleman called me back & said "We understand things happen, but we will have to invoice the gift card & you will have to prepay for the massage you booked, next month." I responded by saying "You all don't seem very understanding, at all. This massage was given to me as a gift & since I can't afford to prepay - I'll just cancel my session." This cost a lot of money. I called to explain the situation and the gentleman showed no signs of empathy. Not exactly the birthday gift or professional service experience I'd hoped for. I get being charged a percentage of the appointment, but charging in full & not applying that payment to the rebooking is so far from being "understanding". Updating to 3 vs 1 after the owner reached out, but seriously - automate reminders. Nobody would be happy about being charged $200 for a service they didn't receive, especiallywhen looking forward to it. I had a legitimate reason for missing my appointment & a little grace would've been nice. Also, per the website - you state the full amount would be credited to the next scheduled appointment for first time clients, but on the phone I was told I'd need to prepay... lowering back to a 2, now that I have the evidence to support my frustration.
