For the past 4 years, we have had to battle a horrible contagious disease that we inherited after purchasing English ivy from Calloway's in Arlington and in Mansfield. And they still, as of last week we're still using the same grower and selling the same diseased plants to the public this nasty English hobby that is diseased and they don't care at all. To top it off the employees had to be pointed out the disease and they didn't even know what it was and it spreads like wildfire and will destroy your yard. & garden.I have to pluck about 100 leaves a day with this brown and yellow halo spot on my leaves. It is a copper deficiency. And then the district manager named Anita accidentally messaged me instead of her boss saying that I was getting on her last nerve and not wanting to replace my IVy with needle point IV after losing the majority of my English Ivy in my yard. she said she would never slam me or smeer my name to her employees and then I receive this message that she accidentally sent to a me instead of the corporate office, besides their prices being sky, I will not give them my business when they don't give a hoot about taking care of business. They are more than willing and advertise,, '"Let us come landscape your yard," yet, not once did they come out and look at my yard I had to bring them the evidence. This has been going on for four years at least for us. The simple solution is and was, change the grower that you get your products from for goodness sakes... I have driven past this nursery for over a year and finally decided to stop in over the weekend. I'm pleased to say it was a definite win! They have a huge selection of flowers, plants and accessories. A little pricey but the pots seem to be durable. The only downfall I will say is none of the staff greeted me at the door nor were in the aisles available for questions. There were two clerks at the register who were friendly but one was on her phone so customer service could be improved. I purchased a bag of potting soil, a small daisy, a medium lily and a large pot for an existing ivy I have at home. Total was roughly $56 so looking forward to their reward program. read more

Calloways is always one our many stops in the spring on weekends. They always have healthy plants and the lifetime warranty (with receipt) is a plus when buying the trees, bushes, and perennials. So far we've only had 2 plants die in our yard and that's with a lot of $$$$$ many spent on our landscaping in the past few years. New homes don't come with the good stuff anymore. Only source of discontent lately is that most of the locations on this end of the DFW area have pretty much all of the same items. We say a few odd trees at a location north of Dallas a few weeks ago, but it was an hour and half away from our house. Hoped we could find these trees closer at one of the 3 locations near our home. Not the case. These 3 locations all have the same normal trees all the other places have that every other house has as well. We like the off the wall trees to add decoration and add an eye catching look because it stands out as different and out of the ordinary. Such as the Chocolate Mimosa tree we saw up north. None of the location in the south area have them. read more

This was my first time at Calloways and I enjoyed browsing the aisles. The staff are good about checking in with you to see if you need anything. They have rows of different types of indoor and outdoor plants. The prices are on the higher end compared to places like Home Depot. I ended up purchasing two mini cacti and the cashier was helpful in regards to plant care. I also bought some cactus and succulent potting mix that I look forward to using next year. I'm grateful to have a nursery nearby that has multiple locations in the DFW area. read more

All plant needs are satisfied at Calloways. At this location I have never presented a plant or soil question that was not properly addressed by the horticultural staff or cashier even. For reference, I discovered a few fungus gnats in a newly added sansevieria starplant to my collection of sansevieria green babies. There were 4 natural options shared for eliminating the problem before the fungus gnats were able to produce eggs or larva. First, remove the infested plant to a room with no additional plants to treat separately. The 4 recommendations were: Natural river rocks, and bottom watering, or fill small jar tops with Apple cider vinegar and place around the floor near the plants, or purchase organic neem oil spray and spray the top soil daily for one week. I purchased white river Rocks. I placed the river rocks on all my houseplants used to cover the topsoil in potted plants. This did many things!! adds to the aesthetics of the plant, prevents water loss, and rid all fungus gnats. Perfect solution. But as a preventative measure I filled pasta sauce tops with apple cider vinegar and gnats were drawn to the strong "rotting smell" of apple cider and died in the liquid. I also learned thru this process that fungus gnats thrive and lay eggs in wet soil. The eggs become larve and eat the wet decay(similar smell lofting from the ACV) in the soil... and the process continues. But, this cannot occur if houseplants are watered from the bottom. Just don't allow the water to rise to the top of the soil overflowing. read more

How can you blame rudeness on Covid. Would have given no stars if possible. No one asked us if we needed help. But had no problem asking others. Then the cashier named Steve was extremely rude...didnt even acknowledge when we went to counter. He just asked if we had a card. Other then that no eye contact..no hi how are you no nothing. This nursery charges more money than Home Depot across the street, so they SHOULD offer better service. They don't! The first time I shopped here I dragged a large wagon around because I did not see the push shopping baskets. No sales person offered an alternative as I pushed this stubborn wagon around in the heat! I saw this happening with another shopper, an elderly woman who came just to redeem her Mother's Day Certificates and I went and got her a push cart. She was pleased. We had a conversation about how customer service is REALLY lacking here. Every time I've shopped here I've had to flag a sales person down to get a salesperson down to get assistance! I bought a hibiscus and had NO idea of how to care for it. I flagged a salesman down and he didn't give any information other than give it full sun on how to care for it? I brought this beautiful plant home and it was not making any new buds for the beautiful flowers! Thank goodness for You Tube! I always thought that Calloway's was the first and last place to learn about caring for beautiful flowers, but I see it isn't so! I am VERY disappointed in the lack of service that Calloway's offers. I hot good flowers from Walmart! I don't expect flower information from them. read more

I'm not sure why this place hasn't gotten great reviews. I stumbled upon it while going from place to place looking for last minute deals on Christmas trees. Looked to my right while driving from Home Depot and lo and behold, a nursery! Saw a Christmas tree outside that was tagged 50% off and was still too much for my budget for what I was looking for, but decided to at least look around. Walking in there was a very impressive mini forest! Most of the trees left were flocked, which are beautiful but I was looking for a big ol' greenie! Sadly, they were still all out of my price range seeing as how they were 8 feet plus and around $200 each (marked down to $100.) But still I walked around a little bit just enjoying the view. I decided to go up front and ask if they were going to discount any further, and also to ask if they have bonsai trees (they don't.) The sweetest lady said that they were discounting to 75% off which I almost thought she was doing just for me until I saw a guy going around with 75% off stickers marking the trees. But she was so nice I felt she might have done the extra discount even if they weren't going to do the 75% off yet. I told her my budget and I got the most gorgeous 9 foot tall Christmas Tree. It's poofy and tall and beautiful. I had to cut off the top foot (where the star or angel topper would go) just because it was SO tall. And even better, they threw in the big plastic tree stand for free! That thing was so large it had to be at least $20 if not $30 retail (which I know because I was pricing them at target earlier that day so I get to return the tree stand I bought because I got one included :) The two guys who handled the trees bagged it up, set it up on my car, and tied it up really tight. It was great. If I still live in the area I'm definitely coming to this place for Christmas trees. I've already looked at five places for Christmas trees and they've all pretty much just been leaning against a wall. When Calloway's gets the trees, the lady explained that the base of the trunk is cut and then it's immediately put in water and kept watered during the tree's time there. I only saw one tree there that had just started to have a very few brown needles on it-- and it's the 22nd of December! read more

I had a pleasant experience here. Paula was so nice and helpful and answered all 15 of my questions about starting a container garden. That really made my experience. Gardening is an investment, and of course I want to do it right! I enjoyed browsing and saw some really great items. Rose plants are about $20 bucks here, and there was even a section with discounted plants, from 50-75 % off. I spotted blueberry plants for $7-10, some with a few baby blueberries growing! From what I could tell, the labels on the price tags are very detailed, giving you plenty of information on spacing needs for the plants, the kind of fruit or foliage the plant will produce, and what kind of soil to plant it in--all very helpful. I will definitely be back to take advantage of the good customer service I found here, and to add to my container garden collection. Thanks Calloway's! read more

I shop this store 3 times a month usually. I buy all my trees and plants from this location. I always find what I need and Grant is the most helpful employee there. He is so polite and sweet. I had a woman there name dorinda or dorita or something like that that was horrid. She would just point aimlessly if you asked her where anything was, I am so glad I dont see her much. I kept going because of Grant and the others. They are fabulous. read more

Cashiers are not friendly, seems like its a chore to work there. I have been shopping here almost every week this spring and most of my encounters with the cashiers have been mostly unpleasant (rude tone of voice, lazy posture,... and at most, indifferent towards the customs!) Besides that, the selection is great. However, I may have to reconsider shopping at this location because of customer service! Go to Greens instead. read more

Good customer service. She helped give me directions to the location because my GPS was done. She helped me from the time I arrived to the time I left. They have several beautiful flowers and plants. I went for an ALOE VERA PLANT. They actually sale 3 different sizes. I purchased the largest plant and also a plastic pot to repot a little later. I plan to go back for more. read more

These guys were great! We looked for Christmas tree disposal bags--to buy--at 3 other tree sellers. No go. When we happened by this Calloway, we stopped on a whim. They had tree bags FREE with the trees they sold. And both the cashier and manager offered us one at no charge along with a free bottle of tree feed. i originally had a very different review because my visit was so pleasant. i thought the place was very cute and wanted to even see if i could come back with my camera. but then i discovered that a little baby basil plant that i bought was infested with little bugs. i called and they were polite and informed me that they are spider mites (i had no idea such things even existed before this lol) but they said i could come back and buy this stuff for $12 to get rid of them or exchange the plant. i had already potted it so i told them that and she said i could put the plant in a trash bag and bring it and that just made me sad just throwing this plant out. and what if i get another infested plant. i don't know. so i just looked up some spider mite shit on amazon and i'm gonna try to save this plant. i will probably not be returning to this location. i don't think all calloway's are bad i'll maybe bring my camera into one of them someday. i just have never had this happen. i've bought lots of plants at grocery and hardware stores and i never have gotten an infested plant. it probably happens but this sucks lol read more

Although their classes are great their customer service greatly lacks. We have shopped there often but have made the decision to go elsewhere. I just had the unpleasant experience of standing at the checkout counter to ask a question while the cashier talked and totally ignored me while "chatting" with someone and then being treated very rudely and talked to in an immature, demeaning, loud way which drew a small crowd and was quite upsetting He did say "sorry, it had been one of those days." For being the manager he needs some lessons in how to handle his stress and customer service skills. That was in one visit on a slow weekday afternoon. On another visit, I asked if they had a particular plant and the girl I asked replied, "i don't think so." Don't answer "i don't think so!" Get your lazy little legs moving and go find out for sure! Won't be going back anytime soon! I would be interested in how Caoolway's John Peters, Company Founder and VP, Operations would have viewed this scene. Buying plants should bring joy. read more
