The mailed estimate however was $14,000.00 and some change. They took down the trees and said someone else would remove the cut down trees and grind up and remove the stumps. The stump grinder came and said that he was only going to do 4 of the 5 stumps and I could pick out which ones. I called the company and told them that this wasn't the deal so th sent out their team again. I showed them that they didn't finish the tree trimming and ivy removal on a tree in the back yard. They said they needed a lift to do it and would be back but did grind the final stump. When the team came out to finish the tree in the back, that team said they weren't going to work for free and had the office call me and tell me there was an additional $600 charge to trim one additional branch that they had forgotten. I paid the almost $15k and told the office that the French Drain in my backyard was not working after they dropped 2 trees on top of it and I was told that the owner (Steve, the 5 star review on here), would come look at the French Drain. He never came but sent out the bill for the additional $600. So my estimate of $8,000 went up to $15,000.00 and I've got to find a contractor to repair what they crushed (the French Drain) and still haven't seen anyone from C S Flournoy to even look at what was damaged and what wasn't done. I had to remove the ivy from my trees myself even though that was part of the initial estimate. The secondary tree trimmers have left huge tire tracks across my front yard bc they didn't want to backup from the street.

At ~9:42 am on Wednesday April 24, 2024, I was on the phone with my 86 year old mother who's anxiety is pretty high, especially when she is lost. She had a 10 am doctor's appointment, made a wrong turn and was lost. I was attempting to identify her location and get her to the doctor's appointment. Someone started madly ringing the doorbell and knocking on my front storm door. I was not expecting anyone and felt unsafe opening the door when I don't know who the person is. Because the knocking would not cease, I opened the door. The tree worker for Well's Tree Service asked me how I was. I said that I was annoyed because I was on the phone. He said that he did not know that, but I needed to move my car. He said that I did not need to be so rude. After moving the car, I took a picture of the company truck. The same worker who knocked on my door asked why I was taking a picture. He started mocking me as I walked on my property. He informed me that I did not need to call the office because the boss was right there. He said that he did not knock on my door, only my glass (which is my storm door). He pointed out the boss. I stood for more than 5 minutes while the "boss" spoke with my neighbor. I finally interrupted the conversation. I informed the boss that I was not happy. The boss said that he was not happy with me. He said that most people would have moved their car. He made no effort to ask what happened. I informed him that I had an emergency phone call. He said that he did not know that. Then he said if the call was an emergency, we should have called 911. I informed him that my mother was lost and potentially late for a doctor's appointment. He said that he did not know that, but he certainly did not make any attempt to understand what happened. He said that it was in everyone's interest to remove the tree. I was not questioning that the tree needed to be removed. I suggested that a note on my door yesterday could be very helpful. He said that he did not know that he was taking down the tree until this morning. When I called the office, the person who answered the phone was unclear as to whether I spoke with the owner or the son. She said that inappropriate behavior did not sound like the owner. She said that she would get back to me. A second call was made to the office this afternoon. The call went to voicemail. This review will be cross posted to multiple sites.

I think Commonwealth Landcare has the potential to grow into a great business. The pictures that…read moreI've seen via their website and FB page are beautiful...the experience that I had was, as the Yelp stars indicate, "meh". Full disclosure: I purchased a LivingSocial deal for 1 hour of lawn care at $60. Combined, our front, side, and back lawn equal less than a quarter acre of land. We scheduled an appointment (during which the owner explained that the LivingSocial deal was meant to "drum-up business" and only included mowing, edging, leaf blowing, etc.) and three men came to our house to do the work on an early spring day. I thought it would be a nice treat for a little post-winter season yard work. I had no expectations of anything beyond the terms of the LivingSocial deal. The team was punctual, very friendly, and seemed to work well together. I was a bit disappointed, however, in the work. They asked us what we'd like to see done; my husband explained that both the front and back yard (.15 acre total) should be mowed and edges trimmed. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. I knew our back yard might have needed to be cut on the long side for the first cut of the season, but it actually looked as if very little was done at all. The front yard was not touched. The work was completed in 20 minutes. For $60, this seems a bit steep. I do understand that the LivingSocial deal was meant to drum-up business, as the owner stated, and that these types of deals can overrun businesses with new customers...but when I conveyed these concerns to the owner in a follow-up email, this was one of the responses I received: "Stopped by your house. I guess you all thought the living social deal was more than a grass cutting, weed eating and blowing. There is a lot of plant maintenance work to be done. I can give you an estimate to complete the work, but that was not included. Also, I know they only spent 20 min at your house, but in a means of labor hours that equals 1 hour. Let me know if you all will need additional help." I thanked him for his diligence in following-up with my concerns, but didn't appreciate the attitude--which I read as attitude--in his email. Unfortunately, the grass cutting didn't happen in the front yard and weeds weren't destroyed in the back yard. With some more experience and time, I can see CW Landcare going places. My recommendation? Enjoy the sunshine and get some exercise by doing your own lawn care.
