Like any company, there are good and bad experiences, but the good here has far outweighed the bad for me. Call the Car has policies for a reason; otherwise, people would abuse a system designed to help those who genuinely need transportation. Before judging reviews, ask whether the complaint is truly about the service--or simply about not getting their way. After a car accident temporarily changed my circumstances, I became deeply grateful for services like this. I also rely on a government-certified support animal that is as important to me as a wheelchair is to someone with mobility limitations. Most drivers and agents have been compassionate and accommodating. However, there are exceptions. One driver, Walter, refused my medical transport despite my documentation. Shame on you, Walter. That said, this review exists because of the people who reminded me kindness still matters. Over Memorial Day weekend, I became stranded trying to get home from the pharmacy only two miles away. Ride after ride declined the request until a manager named Servicio stayed on the phone with me for nearly half an hour to make sure I got home safely. The driver who finally arrived, Juan, spoke gently and mentioned he was recovering from cancer surgery himself. Suddenly, my frustrating evening felt insignificant compared to the compassion shown by two people willing to help a stranger. Experiences like this restore faith in humanity. Respect and understanding go a long way, especially toward people from different backgrounds or circumstances. Read reviews carefully--some are written with perspective, and some without it. Peace be with you, and be grateful for the moment you're in right now. read more

Call the car is unreliable, especially for . I call two days ahead for a ride for a doctor appointment, and then set up the ride. On the day of the ride I call to track ride. I was informed on that day there's no ride listed, which threw me off since I received Notification on my phone there was! I was politely told to set up another doctor appointment and reschedule the ride. You get charged if you miss your appointment. I don't trust(call the car)! read more

I officially received a written determination letter from Call the Car / LA Care stating that my online transportation booking access has been restricted and that I must now call customer service directly to schedule rides. What is concerning is that multiple representatives and even supervisors later stated they either "never heard" of online restrictions or claimed they had no authority to remove them, creating major confusion and lack of transparency for members trying to access medically necessary transportation. While transportation benefits technically remain active, removing online scheduling creates a significant burden for patients managing ongoing appointments with multiple doctors, specialists, pharmacies, and healthcare providers. Recent policy changes also appear to involve increased verification procedures for pharmacy trips and medical appointments due to fraud concerns. Preventing abuse is understandable, but legitimate patients should not feel automatically treated with suspicion or subjected to unclear backend restrictions without meaningful explanation. The biggest issue here is transparency and communication. Patients deserve: * Clear notice regarding restrictions * Consistent information from staff * Professional customer service * Reliable access to medical transportation * Fair policies that do not create unnecessary barriers to healthcare access Medical transportation exists to help vulnerable patients access care -- not to create additional stress, confusion, and obstacles for members already dealing with health issues. read more

Call the Car - Medical Transportation Near Me - Diamond Bar, California

Call the car has now stooped to an ultimate low. Yes, they still kept the AI call center worker. Yes, they still go against HIPAA where they demand to call the day prior to ensure you have prescriptions to pick up or an appointment. The newest low is using Uber and sending a prompt to EVERY SINGLE DRIVER to call you WITH YOUR PHONE NUMBER. To those who don't use Uber or Lyft, it's standard for them to call or message you upon arrival. The difference? Rideshare apps give them a number to contact you that isn't yours but directs to you, and you them. Call the car violates user privacy directly on top of the above and risks safety. This is horrifying for people like me who rely on ride services through insurance when people can't drive us. read more

Horrible! Customer service is the worst and nobody will help you like they should to make changes to your very own account. They give a hard time to ppl who already have difficulties in life. They are not qualified to work with disabled or medically challenged people. I 100% do not recommended this company for medical transport due to their inability to communicate professionally or give proper care to clients I have never received such disappointing service as I have with this company all the way around. I will never use them again and am looking for better insurance so that I can get a different medical transportation company to assist me daily. I will tell everyone I know not to use this company. 1 out of 10 DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! VERY TERRIBLE SERVICE FOR DISABLED OR INJURED PEOPLE. NOT SURE HOW THEY ARE STILL IN Business? HOW?TRULY HOW? read more

Read all the way through - Good luck trying to get a transport if you're even close to the 24 hour window they Need. Do you need services for a surgery that is planned the next day??? Well too bad cause this place isn't it. Called again. x4 (Different operator) Gave us the lift. WITH IN 24HR. We needed. For a next day surgery. Sounds like someone over there let their emotions takeover. People call for help, not to deal with some ego powered operator pretending to do shit while leaving people on hold.I forget her name. I think it was Sophia. She made things happen. Our family appreciates this very much. Thank you for staying professional. read more

The fact they outsource Uber drivers for medical transportation is ridiculous and most their operators are dog water. my mother uses their service multiple times a week, and almost every time: the drivers cancel or say they completed the pickup without doing so. or my mom (who is disabled) has to hobble to the front of her complex because they won't drive to her unit. One day she had a man show up to pick her up, when his uber account showed a woman and a woman's name(so unsafe). When she tries to call the car it's only a 50/50 chance that they'll answer or yet alone get her another ride in time. Not to mention the lack of urgency when it comes to medical transportation. idk what needs to change but something has to obviously. You do MEDICAL transport, you can't play around with people's medical care. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Call the Car was disappointing. I called to schedule medical transportation and had difficulty understanding the representative because of his strong accent. I politely asked him several times to repeat himself, and instead of being patient or helpful, he became increasingly patronizing and spoke to me as if I were a child. At no point was I rude--I simply wanted to make sure I understood the information correctly. As someone who has gone through brain cancer treatment and relies on medical transportation for appointments, I expected patience and professionalism. Instead, I was made to feel like I was an inconvenience simply because I needed the representative to repeat himself. No one should be made to feel that way when they're trying to arrange transportation for medical care. This is a company that serves people with medical needs. Many callers may have hearing impairments, neurological conditions, cognitive disabilities, or other challenges that make communication more difficult. Representatives should be trained to respond with patience and professionalism, not frustration. The interaction was so unpleasant that I'd honestly rather spend money I don't have than use this service again. Looking through other reviews, it seems I'm not the only person who's had this kind of experience. I hope the company takes customer service training more seriously, because people relying on medical transportation deserve to be treated with respect. read more

I really recommend it any one that needs a lift to the doc any thing that has to do with your health. I love it.

The worst customer service from agents and supervisors. I requested a ride for two of my minor children and the agent would only make a reservation for one, guaranteeing that one reservation was sufficient. It was not. I called the night before my ride to confirm we would have adequate seats for the ride and I was told a private vendor would be picking us up in a medical van, I asked if rideshare was an option and the agent assured me that the vendor was better because we would have an entire van to ourselves. The morning of the ride I called again to double check that the vehicle could accommodate us and I was assured and given an eta. The driver arrived on time and had a wheelchair passenger they picked up leaving only two remaining seats. I called and asked to have my ride switched to rideshare but they refused. I could see several drivers available in my area but they refused to switch the ride to uber so my children both missed their appointments even though I called the day before and the morning of to double check that this wouldn't happen. The supervisor was very rude and completely unapologetic. My kids won't get the medical care they have waited months to receive. Do not use this company read more

Horrible since contract switched to uber. Cant get anyone on the phone. Rides you've taken a million times rejected for no reason. God forbid someone who paid taxes their whole life be dying and need a government contracted service to do their actual job. read more

They always reject your trips. It's absolutely insane. If you have medical definitely switch to Molina insurance so you don't have to use this service. Molina medical rides won't reject your rides, especially a day in advance. Stay away from blue shield and call the car. They also think it's alright to call the offices where you have appointments thinking that'll be 100% accurate. Especially since most places can't release that kind of information. Just very unprofessional. You think they would want the most business as possible since that's how they make one's. read more

Phone reps all have very thick accents & are hard to understand. One was asking me repeatedly for my address including state, but I couldn't understand him. This company is terrible!!! They are always late, recently no one even showed up for a double appointment day, missed my therapy, found a ride for 2nd appointment but, ended up being hurt in the drive that set my recovery back at least a month. Then they leave you for hours before being picked back up. When you do have pick up, drop off, pick up again for different appointments, I had to walk from one appointment to another and then back again, put me in bed for four days. They're a joke as a company!!! I feel sorry for anyone (including myself) that has no choice to use them. I wish IEHP would use On Site instead, they are always punctual and tend you perfectly. read more

I have been using call the car a lot because I am having so many doctor appointments. The drivers are always on Time. Their cars are always clean. All the drivers are very nice. 8 out of 10 drivers are excellent drivers. They take you to your destination. I do will call for my ride home and I do not have a very long wait for them to send a car to take me home. Scheduling is the only thing that is a little tricky. Sometimes I have to call if the ride will not be accepted on my cell phone app. When I call everyone is very helpful and are able to get me the ride I need. read more

I'm a LA Care member and they contract transportation services from Call The Car. So far I've had about 3 round trip rides with them, so 6 total trips. The first 4 trips were done by either Uber or Lyft drivers. So Call the Car contracted out those to a ride-sharing service. That did cause some quality issues because while the pick ups to the LA Care meeting went smoothly, the trip back was usually kind of a mess because everyone at the meeting needed rides back and trying to figure out who's uber/lyft driver was whose resulted in cancelled rides by the driver and took 20 to 30 minutes to sort out. This last round trip Call the Car used their own drivers and vehicles to perform the pickups and drop-offs. My driver Tony was very good. He was courteous and not only on time but early. And since Call the Car was using all company drivers, the end of the meeting went very smoothly since all of them were waiting there and they were the same drivers that did the initial pickups so it was easy to know which driver to go with. They also had supervisory staff on-site in the meeting to make sure things went smoothly. No cancelled rides and no unnecessary waiting. In addition to the actual rides, the customer service center over the phone is also very helpful. There is little to no wait, which is great, and the people over the phone try their best to solve problems and so far they've always followed through. Either the first person you contact or a manager/supervisor will make sure things are set up and scheduled properly or if they are unable to resolve the situation at that moment, they make sure to follow up and inform you of any changes or issues. In conclusion, the company is able to learn from their mistakes and improve the transportation service. They are receptive to improvement. And their call center is very professional and are able to follow through and solve problems. read more

I live two miles from UCLA Medical Center. I usually walk there and walk home. Today I was having a procedure in the Medical Procedures Unit. Had to be driven there and back since I was having an anesthetic. My insurance, Blue Shield Enhanced (HMO), pays for non-emergency medical transportation provide by Call The Car. Called the Blue Shield transportation phone number and made a reservation. Also downloaded the Call The Car app (CTC-GO) on my cell phone. This morning the Call The Car car (provided by Lyft) arrived on time. While the car was enroute I received many text updates about where the car was, the driver's name, and a description of the car. It was the same after my procedure. When I was ready to go home someone in the Medical Procures Unit called Call The Car. Once again received text updates. The car arrived around a minute after I arrived at front door of the 200 UCLA Medical Plaza building. The drivers in both directions were very nice and very helpful. read more

4.75 stars is the rating I give. This is a good, very helpful car service. But also, it's important to know that you should confirm your pick-up time, simply by checking it in the phone app - or just call in to quickly double-check your pickup time: A day or two in advance. Looking in your app is probably easier; either way, just help ensure that the representative entered the right time for your upcoming ride reservation. Additionally, I find the "Will-call" return ride option so helpful. read more

The representatives are generally very nice. I love using their app, which is very reliable and user friendly.

Horrible company. My father is in a wheel chair every time we call this company, the vendors they work with leave my father hanging... He is always waiting outside for the driver, because he is in a wheelchair is difficult for them to find a wheelchair bound vehicle. They book the reservation anyway when time comes for pick up they "no show" stating the patient was not at residence. I'm complaining now because I literally see my dad waiting since 7:30am for his 8am pick up. They said they will arrive in 10 minutes, And it's 9:12am. They said they came but the did not. My little brother has terminal cancer, and I schedule a ride for one of his chemotherapy appointments over a month in advance on the app to guarantee the ride. When the day came around, no one arrived, and when I called, they said that because the appointment was scheduled more than 30-days in advance that they auto-canceled his ride. I received zero notification of the cancellation, and the app showed his scheduled ride appointment as though he should be expecting the ride. He was late to his chemotherapy after frantically searching for someone to give him a ride which cost him money he doesn't have. While he was at his appointment, I spoke to someone and scheduled him a "will call" return ride. When he was ready to return, I called in his return ride with your new automated system, and it said it was sending a car, and that he can receive text updates. No car came, and he received no text updates. I called back and spoke to someone who said no car was sent. We spent about 25 minutes (in addition to) trying to get my brother a ride because the rep needed special authorization. My brother having just had hours of chemotherapy sat outside close to an hour waiting for a ride. I have little trust in this company, and expect more of the same. read more
