Today I was invited to a staff appreciation breakfast party which started around 9am! I'm so happy to see alumni and staff come together for such a relaxing free event. Good catered breakfast and good lil goodie bag giveaways. Free photobooth print out photos! Fun games! Good to see the staff in good spirits early in the morning! I met a staff member named Lisa while in line! She allowed me to add her to my LinkedIn. Good to network.

I went to see the production "The play that goes wrong" on a Thursday night. It is a small university theatre but probably seats about 300. It was almost a full house. This was my fist time on campus and from what I saw it was nice looking. When I arrived I saw event parking and I thought "oh good" I won't have to pay for parking because I'm here for the play but nope the security guard told me you have to pay and put the ticket on my dashboard. It was $10! That's almost 2 gallons of gas.. but I paid anything for the theatre. I later found out there was an school debate and that was for the free parking. CSUDH should consider providing free parking for theatre events. The show was only about an hour and the set was minimal. Although, the actors did so much with it. It was such a good laugh and the actors knew all their points. If they did mess up, the audience didn't know, we assumed it was part of the show. *SPOILER* There's one part where the set is practically falling down but it's all part of the show. I thoroughly enjoyed the show as I probably haven't seen a play since pre-pandemic.

I think a big problem though would be having a small computer lab shared between the multiple programs. It was too small of a room and you could never tell what program was using the room until you actually stepped inside. As for the staff, they were helpful in guiding me through externship. I would've definitely missed a due date or forget to fill out a form without their help.

During COVID-19 I was in the, veterinary assistant program, I was told there would still be hands-on lab training, just modified. That did not happen. Lab exposure was extremely limited, and the instruction was inconsistent. The second instructor was frequently late, absent, and unprepared. I documented in my graduate survey that she was inadequate for lab instruction which is a serious issue for a hands-on program and no one ever followed up. Most of the "teaching" consisted of reading directly from a textbook, with little to no practical application. It felt like self-teaching rather than an actual program. Cost vs. Value Total cost: $17,506 Out-of-pocket: about $6,130 I was charged $515 for e-books that barely worked and had to go back to campus for physical books. The laptop provided also did not function properly during class. For that price, the education should reflect, it did not. Reality Check I'm currently continuing my education toward my RVT license through a program that costs around $8,000 and is far more structured. This program does not even lead to a license, yet costs more than double. Externship By the time I reached externship, I was not prepared at all. My first site wouldn't even let me participate, and I lost a month. I had to transfer. I didn't actually learn basic skills until my second externship which should have been taught in the program. Concerns I raised multiple concerns directly with Lourdes Valencia over the phone and was told, "you signed up for this." During one call, she forgot to hang up, and I overheard her and another staff member speaking negatively about me. This was extremely unprofessional and discouraging, especially after I had just expressed my concerns. I documented this experience in my graduate survey, yet there was no follow-up. It is very concerning that such feedback was submitted and seemingly ignored. Now that I'm continuing my education, it's clear how inadequate the training was, and it raises serious concerns about whether students are being taken advantage of. Pattern Matters Yes, some reviews are positive, but many negative reviews share the same exact issues. Students (including myself) have documentation of what we paid. At some point, when multiple people are saying the same thing including former staff it cannot just be dismissed. Final Thought My 4.0 GPA was from my own effort, not the program. I did not sign up for an inadequate education. I signed up for what was promised during admissions, and that is not what I received. I am currently in communication with the school and hoping for resolution. Until then: Do not spend your money here if you expect real training and support.

His unannounced, self-designed exams required complete mastery of the material and accurately reflected the pressure and expectations of real-world service centers. With experience at Tesla and other professional facilities, he consistently brought real-life scenarios into the classroom, teaching not only technical skills but professionalism, problem-solving, and operational thinking. During my time at CDU, as much as my fellow peers and instructors were great, I absolutely cannot say same for the administrative staff. They never truly listened to the concerns of students & dismissed everything off as "students not trying hard enough." That is what it took for the staff to have listened? Unbelievable and sure, their program should be better now but now that I have graduated from another program, this program's administration should've known better. All respect to those who, despite the policies and circumstances, attempted to help students out.
