On a cold and rainy Friday, late afternoon - my tire pressure light came on, after hitting a large cover 'plate' along Sam Rittenberg. My daughter had just taken her car to Caliber and highly recommended that I 'stop by'. I did 'stop by'; without an appointment! I live alone and did not want to drive from Charleston to Summerville, not knowing why the pressure light was on / chance of a flat tire. Joey asked for my car keys; took my car around back - Deirdre kept me company while the tires were being checked... In no time, Joey was back; all tires needed air....and were 'fixed'. Today is 2/9/24, Caliber has had my car since 11/6/23 for what was supposed to be minor body work. There has been zero communication by Caliber. The only time I get info is when I call them. I have heard more excuses than I can count. Employee turnover, mechanics shop, parts not arriving, wrong parts arriving, car is back from mechanic, just body work needs to be completed, car is NOT out of the mechanics shop. The delay is costing me a small fortune in car rental. Save yourself a VERY LARGE HEADACHE AND DO NOT USE CALIBER COLLISION, AT LEAST NOT THIS LOCATION! **Update**- Just received a TEXT from Caliber, they didn't even have the courtesy to call, now estimated date of completion is 2/28/24, almost 4 MONTHS!!!! When I was traveling through the Charleston area in November 2021, a crazy driver completely rear ended my 2021 BMW M240I. Since I'm not local, I had no idea where to take my new baby. After a google search we found this place that was to specialize in more luxury-type vehicles, so the tow truck took it there. I was warned right away that parts might be difficult to get due to COVID (which I understood). But even with that, they estimated a 5 week turn around for the body work. Their tech gave me a website to be able to check my vehicle status, and he did a good job of keeping me informed. I was told the car would be available for a road trip we were taking around Christmas, and that's where the wheels fell off in the process. As the dates they gave me passed, I had to start contacting them to get updates. When I drove back town to Charleston (2 hours one way) to get my car for the road trip, they indicated it still "technically" wasn't done. They said they could band-aid a part they needed for the battery (since they didn't notice earlier that it needed to be replaced). Okay, whatever at least it runs and we can drive it. But we couldn't drive it confidently. First of all, the bumper they replaced was crooked. It was very obvious to anyone looking at the back of the car that the spaces between the dual exhaust and bumper were totally out of whack. Then we looked at the trunk lid, the inside of my car was very rough in both texture and sheen, and there wasn't a clean stop line on the inside. On the top of the BRAND NEW trunk, there were lots of little circular scratches, like perhaps someone buffed it dry with a dirty cloth. When we got inside the car to start it, the interior was very dusty from having body work done. A plastic piece for one of the front seats was also detached and just laying there. And I even had a brand new fault light popped up on the instrument panel. They assured me that would probably "go away" but that I could take the car down the street to the BMW dealer who had assisted with sensor replacement. They also indicated there wasn't anyone available to buff out the scratches right then, but there would be in a bit. So instead of leaving for our road trip, we went to the BMW dealer. They put the seat piece back on, and also assured us the light would go out. (Not that this is Caliber's issue). And back to Caliber we went. And they did buff out the circles on the new trunk. Off we drove to Florida, very unhappy with the car, but at least it drove. Lo and behold, the light did NOT go out. After we left we realized that they had taken out all our personal belongings to replace the trunk. Yet, they didn't put any of it back. So after more calls and emails, they eventually found our belongings. When I informed them that I was NOT making a 4 hour round trip because of their error, they did ship the goods to my home. When we got back from FL, we took it to the local BMW dealer. They inspected it and told us two very important things. First, when Caliber installed the new bumper, they squashed some of the lines for some sensors back there. They were even kind enough to share that video, which I shared with Caliber. I fixed it out of pocket, and Caliber said I'd have a check within six weeks. Despite many follow ups on the phone, via email - I have yet to receive my $600 for this repair. But it's only been TWELVE MONTHS since the accident so perhaps it was lost in the mail. Additionally, in the process of fixing this, no one seemed to care about the warning light on the dash. The local BMW dealer found that there was a pin on an intake area that was sheared off due to the impact. Unfortunately, it is a large cover, and the repair was several thousand dollars. Again, I had to pay for part of that out of pocket, as the main part of my claim was closed with my insurance company. I did eventually get that back but it wouldn't ever have happened if Caliber hadn't given me a car with warning lights on it, as though it was "good to go." I'm left wondering what else they cut corners on that I'm not able to see from the outside. This whole thing was a nightmare of an experience. I can wholeheartedly recommend that you take your car pretty much anywhere else. read more

When driving back from my brother's house in Augusta recently on some sketchy backroads at 11 pm at night, I did what many people have done before me (and many more will do after me): I hit a deer. Luckily, it only hit the passenger side of my car, and it was a small deer, so I was able to finish the drive back to Charleston safely. The next day, I noticed my car was leaking some blue fluid (windshield wiper fluid, I later discovered), so I called my insurance company and they recommended Caliber Collision. I spoke on the phone with Justine, and she could tell that I was freaked out, but she kept me calm and walked me through the whole process. When I got there, she was warm and friendly and joked around with me to lighten the mood and ease my tension. Throughout the entire process, she was bright and happy and kept me updated with how everything was going with my car. They even helped me with an issue on my car that was unrelated to the deer thing, which was amazing customer service. When I was in their waiting room, they offered me freshly-popped popcorn, or my choice of water, soda, or coffee which is available for all customers whenever you come by. When I picked up my car, the tech (I think AJ was his name?) walked me out to my car and did the inspection with me. It was pouring down rain, and he got soaked so that I could use their umbrella, and told me that if I have any issues or questions, I should make sure to contact them or stop by at any time. Amazing customer service and an all around awesome experience. Although I don't hope to have to need them anytime soon, if I ever have any car issues again, they're the only place I'll go! read more

I honestly wasn't going to make this review, but after discovering the overwhelming disregard each day with my car I'm astounded. At first everything seemed fine but as my car was there longer I was constantly left out of the loop, on many occasions. I was not informed that my car handle was not fitting back onto the door and they were taking it to a dealership to straighten it out. I was not informed that my battery was "having issues" so it was dying constantly even while driving, though it worked perfectly fine when I dropped it off. However, they did replace my battery with one from a parts store, but it wasn't even the right CCA for the car. They lost my wheel lock, and even after promising to compensate me for a replacement, after I submitted my review of their work to corporate I never heard from them again. There is so much dust and dirt in my vehicle, that they even half-attempted to clean with ALL PURPOSE CLEANER on the leather while I was standing there upon pickup. There are marks and streaks on my windshield and my door cards. Finally, my front door inner handle doesn't work anymore, and that was the final straw. There is scratches on the door where they failed to put the panel back on correctly and have lost the door stopper and stripped the door screw. I'm just so baffled on how a luxury body repair shop can have such a poor eye for detail, and blatant disregard for decent work. The estimator was available promptly. He was thorough and the quote was so reasonable that a competitor said, "I can't compete with that..." The arrangements were flexible to allow a few months time between the quote and the repair in order to find a back-up car during the repair. The scheduling was a few weeks out. Two professionals who were available on the evening that I dropped the car off (for the next morning) actually stayed there longer and took my keys so that I didn't have to use the dropbox-- and instilled a lot of confidence about the repair service standards. They did not disappoint, when I picked the car up, it was clear that Caliber Collision had gone "above and beyond" with an excellent job repairing a bumper area hit-and-run set of scratches. Caliber Collision returned the nearly ten-year-old car appearing almost like new, and for the exact amount quoted. The communication on completion and pick up was also very good. --(Lost star*) = Phone-staff answering to schedule the repair couldn't find the name and questioned the location, etc. but I didn't let that phase me. (A better way to handle it would be to request information from a customer's paperwork). I retrieved the paperwork, so it was easy with that in hand, to verify the name, location, quote, etc). Customer "Engagement" can help or hurt no matter how good or bad the repair, and helps generate more referrals and repeat business. read more

They held my fiancés car for 5 months & never once called with updates or if things went wrong. This week we were told by an employee that they've had an employee working there who was purposely not ordering parts and stalling. She supposedly quit. They were stalling the car over a tire they ordered online & to speed things up, my fiancé had to come out of pocket $200 just so they could stop procrastinating. Today he got the car back. The bumper they ordered twice is still scratched up as are other areas of the car. The car is an automatic start and they've let the key battery die and now he is stranded. Worst business ever. What really stood out to me about this shop, was when I was calling repair shops to get an estimate on my car for repairs and this was the only repair shop to ask if I was okay. The staff was nothing but polite, professional and efficient. From the time I walked in, to the time I walked out, took 11 minutes. In the time the receptionist greeted me, introduced me to Pax who came out to look at my car and repairs that were needed. He took pictures, had the estimate typed up and sent typed up estimate with his contact information to my email to forward to my insurance company. Also I grabbed some tasty popcorn! Communication and efficiency was not satisfactory. I went in for service on three different spots on my vehicle one of which was paid through insurance and others were out of pocket. The estimator took pictures of all the spots and provided a quote but when I came back after two weeks, only one spot on my vehicle was fixed. I was not notified that the other repairs would not be done. I was without my car for two weeks and the spot that was fixed was minor compared to the others. I was incredibly disappointed in their lack of communication and promptness. I will not be going back or recommending them to anyone read more

Having a 2009 Audi S5, and a 2011 Audi Q5 S-Line, we take excellent care of our cars that still look like they just came off the showroom floor! We are very particular about who we let do anything to "our girls" and our confidence in Caliber Collision is endless! Unfortunately, after being rear-ended in 2013 as I was sitting at a red light, needless to say, repairs were required. Fortunately, the Audi dealer told us Caliber Collision is the only one they recommend because of the quality of their work, in addition to only using true Audi parts, even if they have to be shipped from Germany when not available locally. Caliber Collision did such an amazing job, from start to finish! The politeness, friendliness, and knowledge of the entire staff, starting with a phone call, getting a detailed estimate, the perfection of their work, and the thorough attention to detail when reviewing the work finished is beyond any experience I'd had with this industry!! Do not take your vehicle here !!!!!! I took a Brand new 2019 $60,000 truck there with 588 miles on it. I knew the vehicle had to be driven to Line-X to have minor bed liner repair done which is 16 miles round trip. The estimate sent to me and my Insurance company showed the truck having 617 miles on odometer. After the fact, I spoke with the Line-X local owner and he told me the bed liner was fixed, and body work was complete and truck picked up by Calibers on a Tuesday morning. Thursday morning I began to get curious if the truck was complete and decided to drive by Calibers. My truck was sitting outside Calibers covered in Pine debris at 8:00 AM. I went into to Calibers asked if my truck was ready which it was. Wondering why I had not received a call on Wednesday I left the matter alone as I was glad to get my truck back. Driving home my girlfriend noticed a 12 inch piece of gorilla tape plastered to my console for no apparent reason. Making me curious I inspect my vehicle closer. A Toyota 'firewire" phone charger was missing. The truck came with two other bags of phone charger accessories that I had not even had the chance to open. The bags were open and the unopened double fire wire charger had been used by Caliber employees in the front seat. Both rear seats were folded up when i bought the vehicle and I never put them down. One of the rear seats had been folded down and the rear phone charger had been used as the cover was still open. Totaling 3 passengers charging phones in my vehicle simultaneously for a 8 mile trip to Line-X. Noticing the odometer was now at 661 miles and 1/4 tank of gas missing, I returned to Calibers to ask JL (i think is his name) if he got a chance to drive the truck as it is a fun truck to drive and fast. He smiled and grinned with excitement and told me that they took it to Colleton County to have the bed-liner repaired. And explained what a "badass" truck I have. Me knowing that the truck went to North Charleston Line-X, I knew the guy was lying directly to my face. By this time I feel INVADED, BETRAYED, VICTIMIZED and ANGRY. This companies employees has zero regard for my belongings. Opening up and using toys to my new truck that I had not even had the chance to do. Stealing my belongings and driving 1/10 of the miles that I had driven the vehicle. I told my dad the story but did not mention Colleton County as I figured that detail to be irrelevant to our conversation. Dad told me he seen a truck just like mine at the Drag Strip in Colleton County the weekend after I dropped the truck off. I called the drag strip, explained what had happened who had did it. I asked the owner of the track for video. To my dismay was told that only "highlighted" races were videoed" . My truck is one of a kind. Only three in SC. I have the only one in Charleston County. I begin to demand answers from Calibers. First, JL attempts too throw Line-X under the bus saying that he knows none of his guys would do anything like this. JL did not know that I know the owner of Line-X and i know what a very tight, professional business he runs. This INFURIATED me !!! Knowing he has already lied to me nd now JL is trying to put blame on a very reputable business for the criminal, malicious, negligent actions of himself and two others. JL, then offered too replace the firewire charger stolen. I declined his way too late patronizing offer. Driving home feeling took advantage of, abused I decided to call a level above JL. Pax, the name of the "center manager I spoke to had been made aware of the situation before I spoke to him. Pax of course apologized for my situation only to back up JL's lie that Line-X was responsible. Pax offered to replace the charger and put the gas back in my truck. I declined his offer as he was still supporting a gross lie ! Still unsatisfied I go a level higher to a man named John Steuf from North Carolina. Mr. Steuf only said he does not know what happened only that his people would never do anything like this and he offered to replace my charger, replace the gas & detail my BRAND NEW truck. I declined this offer because there is NO WAY my vehicle will ever be in their hands again !!!!!! Still unsatisfied I call Caliber's Corporate Office in TX. After explaining this situation now for the fourth time the lady at Corporate stated she would have someone call me. I asked who would be calling so I could expect their call. She stated John Steuf would be calling. I explained I had spoken with Steuf. After putting me on hold and talking around she told me a Mr. Hawkins would be calling me the following day. Here I sit 5 days later no call from Mr. Hawkins. I notified my insurance Company and the dealership that sold me the truck. I REPEAT DO NOT! DO NOT! TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE !!!!!!! read more

Greatest place ever. I had some scratches on my new vehicle. I tried to repair the scratches and really made them worse. I stopped in to get an estimate on repairs. The two women who helped me were wonderful! The appraiser looked at the vehicle and took it into the shop to have them take a look at my blunder. I got worried because it was taking a little while. She (the appraiser) appeared with my new car, and The scratches were gone. WOW! I asked how much was the charge (I was willing to pay any reasonable price) and responded. They help with everything from flexible times to get an estimate to arranging a rental car for you while the work is done and dealing with the Insurance companies involved. Justine has gone above and beyond dealing with insurance companies and even getting them to communicate with me when I couldn't. I have had bit of bad luck on the Charleston roads recently and was in there in April and then unfortunately again here in August. In April, Caliber Luxury Charleston were able to not only repair the damage from the accident but they actually repaired some work that was done poorly at another repair shop in Charleston 3 years prior to this. The pricing is fair and most importantly the work done was exceptional. I know that I and my car are safe with the work done at Caliber and I have never had as good customer service as I received from the moment I walked in door. Justine went totally above and beyond to ensure we had absolutely zero out of pocket charges for an accident that occurred early August where my vehicle was hit by another on Glenn McConnell Parkway. She coordinated EVERYTHING through my insurer USAA to make sure we had a premium rental and no expenses for anything. Justine went that extra mile to buff out several small scratches also that were not part of the accident too for no charge! That extra touch of customer service is very rare nowadays! The company blended the paint for repainting perfectly and detailed the vehicle for our receipt of it upon completion. All new Toyota parts were installed to replace damaged ones. My vehicle was in and out of the shop in a very efficient and timely manner to ensure all work was perfect, inspected and reinspected again. I was, unfortunately, in a car accident a few months after buying a brand new Camry. I was the middle car of a 3 car pile up, so I had front and back damage. I took it to Caliber, and they dealt with the terrible insurance company of the woman who hit me. Caliber fought to have it repaired to their standards not the insurance company's. They were able to get Toyota parts, which the insurance company didn't want to provide. (This is the only reason I'm giving them 2 stars.) Caliber boasts a lifetime guarantee on this car and repetitively tells you to let them know if you have any problems. Well, I did have problems with the car. Shortly after the car was repaired, we had the 100 year flood and rain water poured in through the break lights into the trunk and down into the floorboards of the car. It reeked! I took it back to Caliber, they apologized, put me in a rental and "fixed" it. Then, it happened again, not to the same extent, but water was sitting in the trunk, and it smelled terribly. I called Caliber, and they told me to bring it in. I left work that Friday and drove it in. While I was showing him the water situation, I told him that I was hearing a noise coming from the roof every time I pulled into the driveway and out of the driveway. He said he would look into it. Then, he asked me when I could bring it in next week. Are you kidding? I just left work to bring it in, how about now? He said, it would just sit here all weekend. They aren't open on Saturday. I brought it in Tuesday and got a voicemail Wednesday from a different guy. He said they got it all cleaned up and it was ready for pick up. I got there as soon as they opened the next morning. He told me they sealed up the break lights and water tested it, they didn't see any more water. I asked about the roof noise, and he didn't know anything about it. I told him to ask the other guy, and he said he would call him. While he went in to call him, I lifted up the mat of the trunk to find the same puddle of water that was in there before. Basically all they did was detail the car and tell me it was ready. They said they would work on it some more to figure out where the leak was coming from and get back to me. I got a call that Friday and was told that they water sealed the break lights and the trunk and water tested it again to not find any leaks. I said, great! What about the roof noise? He said, he didn't hear anything. He took it on a ride and called me right back. He said, he didn't hear anything and tried to say it was my driveway making the noise. Then, he rode with the tech, and he said what they think I'm hearing is normal suspension noise. My car has less than 7,000 miles on it and was brand new when I bought it. He told me that I needed to have Toyota diagnose the problem, and if they can relate it to the accident, then they would fix it. We argued back and forth telling him that they ought to be embarrassed with how they have treated me and my car thus far, until I finally said, just give me my car back, which is probably what he was counting on. Nonetheless, the people at Caliber were fairly nice, but the repair was subpar, causing even more damage to my car (you can't ever get that smell out). So, so much for the lifetime guarantee.
