This is the long term sites.

This park looks nice online but is far from it. Highly recommend that you either continue north to the Pilot/Flying J or a Walmart parking lot. This is by far the worst experience. Listed amenities- WiFi- doesn't work, could barely download an email, cable is two fuzzy channels, petting zoo is a goat and peacock roaming the property, fishing pond is the storm water runoff, the playground is from the early 70s, basketball court- see below. Long term sites are located in sometimes backyard. The sign on the way out there says private property no trespassing. Stay away from bath houses and laundry room!!! Sites have many long term guest that have not taken care of their lots. The dump station is conveniently located next the swimming pool.

I don't believe this is a KOA as listed, it's called A OK Campground. Stopped here for one night. Easy check-in and the young lady was friendly. Once checked in you're on your own. Can't comment on the cleanliness we didn't use any of the facilities. Needs lots of updating even just painting would go along way. The Peacock and goats were beautiful and not bothersome at all. RVs on the back row area needs to be cleaned up. Probably wouldn't have stayed here if we'd checked it out first.

Spent weekend with some in-laws nice spot smaller vibe pool and game room not your silcon valley type a bit more early 90s but hospitipal could use an update. Close to town and grocery. Pool was clean mini golf is way outta date but my kid loved it. Store is fair priced and stocked they actually have peacocks everywhere super friendly my 6 year old hand Fed them. They also have little cabins. Could def use a makeover but who couldn't? I'll be back

Campground is located on the right 1.7 miles off I-75.

All of the workers were so friendly and helpful here. The hike at the very top was perfect- about a mile or so, the scenic lookout is about halfway through so you can take a break if you need. There's a good amount of elevation to get your heartbeat going but then it calms down after awhile. At the outlook, it would be easy to sit and enjoy the few for a long time. It's stunning. You can also take a fork in the path to visit the Fort that's here (thus named Fort Mountain). There are some info signs explaining the mysterious origins of the fort and it's pretty interesting.

Fort Mountain State Park is one of few favorites places to visit, especially in the spring or in…read morethe fall. The scenery is simply picturesque. Despite the harsh cold winds of winter, we had the sun which made it bearable and our hike was splendid on the day we visited. Our first stop had to be the visitor center to get a new annual pass & patches. The attendants helped us secure the pass that best matched our needs. The visitor center has restrooms and a gift store. For my girlfriend, it's always difficult to resist the items --- t-shirts, stuffed animals, historical books, camping supplies, snacks --- they sell there. If I am not mistaken, I believe they also sell firewood and ice for those looking to camp. If you need a map of the park, it can be found here as well. We then headed to the lake to hike the trail that circles it. It's an easy trail, so it makes for a nice walk for chatting and stopping to admire the views of the lake and mountainside. The beach at the lake is relatively small, but the facilities there are nice, with boat rentals, playground, picnic tables, and putt-putt golf. Im assuming a lot of these services are seasonal because we saw no one using them. I did like that there was a ramp that led from the parking lot to the beach for visitors that may have mobility issues. We hiked several different trails, and all were well blazed. The trails that led to fire tower and the stone wall had informational signs. Unfortunately the fire tower can only be viewed from the outside. I would love to see the view from the top! But if it's views you are interested in, checkout the overlook trail! The view is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! We also did the Big Rock Nature Trail (trailhead is near the lake dam). The 3/4-mile trail led to a beautiful waterfall. We didn't touch the Gahuti Trail this time, but we plan to do it next time we come back; it's challenging but very beautiful from what I have read about the trail. I would recommend it if you have a day for a hiking adventure. Snacks and water are required. The cabins and cottages all look well maintained from the outside and are located in beautiful areas of the park. We didn't check out the campground, but it's near the lake, but Fort Mountain State Park seems to have something for everyone!

Parking was nearby, but it is not like you saw the cars from your camp spot. The bathrooms were a short drive, or long walk away and were clean. There was plenty of space at the actual site for us to spread out. We moved some of the tables so we could have a centralized kitchen and eating area. The lake was right at the bottom of our site, although getting up and down the steep hill was tough, a great cardio workout. The scenery in the area was amazing! Also, shout out to the host as she let me in after hours as the gates close at 9pm. I got there at 9:30, called the number on the booth, and she came right out.

I spoke to the host before we came as a bad storm had caused a power outage and they were extremely helpful and friendly. However, the weekend was soured by an interaction with a woman driving around a cart marked "volunteer" as we were hooking up our camper. Check out time is 12:00. We were literally hooking our camper to our truck at 12:08 after making sure the campsite was cleaned up and clear of debris. This was when we were approached by an older woman driving a volunteer cart that immediately said "Clearly you don't know checkout time is 12:00." I explained to her that we were simply hooking up and would be out of the way momentarily. She proceeded to tell me that next time we should wake up earlier because they need to "clean" the sites after we leave. Not sure what cleaning is really done since I swept leaves out and cleared fallen limbs when we set up. She proceeded to give the same speech to some tent campers across from us that had cleared their site and were just loading their cars. I am completely fine with a friendly reminder since yes we were a whopping 8 minutes late pulling out of the site. Beyond that, there is no reason to be rude and disrespectful and speak to people like they are children. She really seemed to be enjoying the tiny bit of power that little volunteer cart gave her and had my child not been standing beside me she would have quickly been put back in her place. Beyond crazy power tripping volunteer lady, I highly recommend the campground. Minus one star for crazy cart lady.
