We came here on a father-daughter camping trip with a munch of elementary aged girls and had a…read moreblast! We were able to get 4 sites together 47-50 and it worked out perfectly. Parking was nearby, but it is not like you saw the cars from your camp spot. The bathrooms were a short drive, or long walk away and were clean. There was plenty of space at the actual site for us to spread out. We moved some of the tables so we could have a centralized kitchen and eating area. The lake was right at the bottom of our site, although getting up and down the steep hill was tough, a great cardio workout. The scenery in the area was amazing! Also, shout out to the host as she let me in after hours as the gates close at 9pm. I got there at 9:30, called the number on the booth, and she came right out.

Camped this weekend and brought our camper and pontoon boat. Great site and easy to beach our boat…read morefor use during the day. I spoke to the host before we came as a bad storm had caused a power outage and they were extremely helpful and friendly. However, the weekend was soured by an interaction with a woman driving around a cart marked "volunteer" as we were hooking up our camper. Check out time is 12:00. We were literally hooking our camper to our truck at 12:08 after making sure the campsite was cleaned up and clear of debris. This was when we were approached by an older woman driving a volunteer cart that immediately said "Clearly you don't know checkout time is 12:00." I explained to her that we were simply hooking up and would be out of the way momentarily. She proceeded to tell me that next time we should wake up earlier because they need to "clean" the sites after we leave. Not sure what cleaning is really done since I swept leaves out and cleared fallen limbs when we set up. She proceeded to give the same speech to some tent campers across from us that had cleared their site and were just loading their cars. I am completely fine with a friendly reminder since yes we were a whopping 8 minutes late pulling out of the site. Beyond that, there is no reason to be rude and disrespectful and speak to people like they are children. She really seemed to be enjoying the tiny bit of power that little volunteer cart gave her and had my child not been standing beside me she would have quickly been put back in her place. Beyond crazy power tripping volunteer lady, I highly recommend the campground. Minus one star for crazy cart lady.

There are restrooms right next to the visitor center. There are two playgrounds on the other side of the visitor center with loads of picnic tables to sit at! Parks are in full shade. The official archway for the trail is directly behind the visitor center so be sure to catch your picture there! The big stocked pond was nice! Loads of dead fish floating and garbage which wasn't the best but not overwhelmingly horrible just could use some clean up. The trail leading up to the base of the falls is steep but well paved and maintained with a couple of seating areas along the way to catch your breath. We somewhat cheated and skipped the steps after we saw the base we turned around, drove up the street across from the visitor center and stopped midway up the falls to see another view half way up the falls on a bridge (check in the woods when you walk to this bridge there is a truck stuck in the woods and a tree is literally growing around it!) then we got back in the car and drove to the top! We may have skipped the stairs but we felt we truly got to enjoy the experience with the 3 little ones 5 and under haha. The top most viewing platform, not the bridge over top, was closed for construction when we went mid April. The lodge at the stop is strikingly beautiful!
