The staff at Calhan treated us like family; the love, respect and kindness from Dr. DeAngelo, Kathy and Crystal can never be repaid as they allowed us to put my S/O's therapy cat to rest with mercy, dignity and care. Horrible. We took our husky (rescue) in for what seemed to be something in his eye. We were told it was his tooth that was causing the problem and that he needed it removed. We paid $200 for that first visit and scheduled the appointment to remove his tooth for another $800. When he was in surgery the Dr called and told me he needed another $300 sealing on his teeth and that the eye scrapping they did showed he had mange. I refused the $300 sealant and opted for getting the Simparica from Chewy.com which was literally half the price. The Dr wasn't happy. I scheduled a follow up for two weeks for his teeth. At that visit he tried to charge me an extra $45 for the eye follow up, even though he had only been on his meds for 10 days. I said no. He gave us a referral to an ophthalmologist for pets, and an antibiotic (my dog should have gotten this at the first visit). Needless to say, our dog is finally doing better and we will never go back to him. Not only does it not seem like he knows his job, but he is all about the money... read more

I love this place!! They are so kind here! I took my little Yorkie just for a nail trim and they called the next day to see how she was doing. This was our first encounter with them. Now, my Yorkie was very sick. A few days later she had to be euthanized. I called Calhan Vet Clinic for them to put my little Amy to sleep but the vet was out of town for the holiday weekend. They referred me to another place. Calhan Vet Clinic did call to see how we were doing, now that is so nice. We have 2 other dogs and a cat. Soon a horse. All of my animals will be going to Calhan Vet Clinic no doubt. I love them over there. They are so kind and go out of their way to make sure everyone is ok. What an amazing place. read more

Only one star because you can't give ZERO. Disappointing care and disappointing customer service. We sent a new foster dog for our NON-PROFIT animal rescue (PACFA certified and 501(c)3) to this clinic for a relatively routine abscess cleaning and neuter; $409.22 later, the wound is still infected, it's still oozing and he's uncomfortable from the neuter. Every cent counts with animal rescue and non-profits. We were told by the vet tech that the abscess did burst while they were moving him, so a lancing wasn't required and that she cleaned out the wound while he was under for the neuter. The only reason we agreed to the $155 for the neuter (which is outrageous) is that he was going under anyhow for the lancing. If there was no reason for the lancing then why put him under and I can go to a more reasonable (and professional) vet for the neuter??? I had told them that I could get a neuter at our regular vet for $100 and could he match it and he replied with "let me have you talk to {vet tech}". I talked to her about how standard is a 20% - 40% discount on services for 5013's and we can happily provide any paperwork. We are totally happy to pay for the antibiotics and medications at what they cost, but we were charged for an antibiotic shot that we didn't approve and charged for not only the vet appointment/exam at $45, but a very vague "services fee" of $61.60. The neuter was $155, medications at $127.39 and an injection of something for $23.23. These exact same services would cost us about $230 from a more reputable and reasonable vet. The vet that runs this clinic would not negotiate price at all. He wouldn't even allow me to argue my case. I understand that they are a for-profit business, but I also understand that they can use tax write-off's as well. We now have the choice of paying more (to another vet, not Calhan VC), or letting the dog continue to suffer from the same ailment as when he went to the vet in the first place. There are lots of great vets who genuinely seem to care about the animals they treat; this is not one of them. So we're out basically $175 which is enough to spay/neuter and treat another animal. read more

Calhan Veterinary Clinic is the best place to take your pets; the staff is caring and kind and Dr. DeAngelo and his colleagues do their best to treat your animals. They're very knowledgeable and explain all procedures to be done and the reason why. Over the last 5 years, I've taken my cats and dogs to this clinic for treatment and boarding and every time the attention has been excellent; in the past 6 months I've also taken my goats to be tended to and the treatment to them and attention to me have been great. They accommodate pets and owners' needs when an emergency arises. The Clinic's schedule is flexible and convenient, as they have week and weekend hours. Kathy, Carrie, Dr. DeAngelo and all the staff are the best! I highly recommend Calhan Veterinary Clinic for your pet's health and boarding needs. read more

This place is pretty bad. I took my dog in here a few years ago after being attacked by a coyote and they pretty must told us that they weren't gonna do anything for my dog until we filled out a program. We took her to a different vet. After that I took a puppy in with parvo and they checked him out and at the time I was low on money and offered payments, they excepted it but wouldn't give me the well needed medication for my dog until the bill was paid in full. My dog ended up dying from parvo. Ever since then, I've never gone back. read more

The staff at the Calhan Vet clinic is wonderful! - Very knowledgeable, professional, and helpful. We have a farm with a wide variety of animals, and Dr. DeAngelo can and does take care of them all. He is also very active in the community. He brings in speakers who are experts in their fields and puts on seminars free of charge. He is great resource for information and knows just who to contact for questions like: Where do I get scrapies tags? -or How do I get my land evaluated for toxic weeds?
