The vets here are attentive, caring and knowledgeable. They are first choice of vets in the Colo springs area.

They were very upfront with necessary tests and services as well as discussing the costs. The office was very clean and there was plenty of room in the waiting room.

The…read moregood part is that I was able to get an appointment reasonably quickly and that the staff is friendly. That's as far as it goes for me. I brought my kitten in, at 17 weeks old, for what should've been his one year rabies and 1 year FVRCP vaccine. Instead, he was given a rabies vaccine, but he was only given a four week FVRCP vaccine, which meant that I needed to bring him back again, four weeks later for his 1 year vaccine. When I brought him back four weeks later, he was finally given his one year vaccine for an additional $72.25. Unfortunately, and against my knowledge, and he was also given an FELV vaccine ($46.25). I thought I was coming in for one shot, he was given two, and when I asked about this, she said that it used to be part of one shot and was now two instead. The leukemia vaccine is linked to cats getting sarcoma from injection sites which happened to my last cat. It didn't show up until he was 18 years old, and caused me to have to put him down (and now they give injection shots in their legs so that if this happens, the leg can be amputated.) and I vowed to be very careful about vaccines with my indoor cats. I actually spoke to Dr. Rothstein about my concern about injections given to cats as they can lead to cancer, and not only did he give a shot for only four weeks, but then I had to bring him back in to get two more injections that shouldn't have occurred. He also reminded me that I would need to bring him in in one year and then again for every three years after that. For my indoor cat. The entire visit with Dr. Rothstein made me feel like they were more interested in making money for their veterinary practice rather than what is truly best for pets and working with the owners in their beliefs and what is best for their animals. Personally, I no longer feel like this veterinary practice is in alignment with what is in the best interest of my animals and I will be looking for an alternative for future care. Im not going to have them "practice" on my critters.

Our family purchased a puppy that was unbeknownst to us very, very sick. From looking at it when we purchased it, he had lots of energy and was playful and affectionate. Fast forward 24 hours later, and he was vomiting and having explosive diarrhea. We had not established a vet in town, as this was our first family dog. I went online to find a local vet that had weekend hours, as he needed to be seen immediately. VCA Douglas County Animal Hospital is open 7 days a week (A MAJOR PERK!). I called, and Tracye (the person who answered the phone & an amazing person), was very concerned about our sick puppy and got us in immediately. Our poor sick puppy was in bad shape. The staff at DC Animal Hospital were absolutely amazing...I feel like we were meant to be together. Dr. Stone and Dr. Schmidt, along with the entire team took exceptional care of our sweet puppy, as he had to be hospitalized for several days. Lexie and the entire veterinarian support staff "behind the scenes" were instrumental in his recovery. Thankfully he is doing a lot better and on his way to making a full recovery. We can't thank the incredible staff and doctors at VCA Douglas County Animal Hospital enough for all of their care and expertise that it took to nurse our sweet boy back to health. We continue to use them as our vet and have never been more pleased.
