If you are in Calgary Chinatown area, it is worth your while to drop by Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre. The interior is modelled after the Hall of Prayers of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. The 70 foot high ceiling is decorated with 561 dragons and 40 phoenixes. Make sure to check out the 4 columns with gold ornamentation representing each season. The oute of the dome is covered in blue tiles imported from China and crafted by the same company that endowed the Temple of Heaven during the Ming Dynasty 600 years ago. Aside from the architectural significance, CCCC also held interest class, events, performance and celebration that promotes Chinese heritage and cultural. Check their website for listings and schedules.

Its a very nice building that is for sure. There are events happening here. If you like you can take classes here like Tai Chi, Cantonese, Kung fu etc. Depending what they have to offer at that time. There are parking but you need to pay. Its close to Chinatown.

This is a pretty huge arts and crafts store dedicated to Chinese items on the main floor of the Chinese Cultural Centre. There is a pretty grand selection of things to buy there and I must admit it is an extremely elegant store filled with everything Chinese in the color red. Huge selections of calendars, fans, massage balls, toys, stuffies, stationary, incense, majong sets and scrolls. You can even buy swords, dragon costumes and masks here and if you want to add some flair to your home then there are cute pillows and beautiful Chinese drawings. Everything seems to be reasonably priced and if could easily be a one stop shop.

The tennis courts and water park gets 4 stars (not even 5!). Today at Canada Day on Jul.01,2022 they gave my son 10 year old melted candy and we only got one tiny burger per person. This was actually the first time they did something about keeping the "uncouth" Harvest Hills and Coventry Hills folks off our community property. So for all their "savings" from keeping the heathens off our private property they were generous enough to hand out one free tiny hamburger per person this year after being closed for 2 years due to Covid. We in panorama deserve better than this BS! My question is: ".. I can't possibly be the only Panorama hills sucker to gratefully pay that $262.50 per year for nothing, basically!"

They have a splash park, playground, sand box, beach volleyball, basketball nets, picnic areas with charcoal bbq's, and green space perfect for tossing Frisbees, football etc. They also host various events free to members, throughout the year. Easter egg hunt, with chocolate at the end, the Easter bunny has made an appearance as well. Haunted house, Canada day bbq with DJ, bouncy house and obstacle course, face painting, games etc., horse drawn wagon, Santa and hot chocolate, ice skating and toboggan run in the winter. There are also a variety of fitness and children's programs offered at reasonable rates in the center. Fees also go to the upkeep of the community which I'm not sure everyone who pays them realizes. The association plans all the flowers and looks after maintenance of the landscaping, watering etc. For the area covered by the fees. For the older parts of the community there is apparently the open to join the association of you aren't currently in it.

I call it a community hall because calling it the Varsity community building just doesn't have the same feel to it. If you're from a small town, the hall itself isn't so much what you'd expect. See, where I grew up, the community hall was a one room deal with a stage at the end. This one's got a multitude of rooms in different shapes and sizes that are used for a variety of different things (dance classes, Girl Guides and even a playschool). The hall is great (and cheap) for small group kind of rentals. Unlike your small town hall (big hall for the small town rather than the other way around), I don't think you'll want to be catering any big weddings here. But with a playground right outside, some field space, and easy accessibility just off Shaganappi Trail, you've got a solid venue for your event(s).

They are just like grandma used to make, and that's probably because they have a Ukranian woman making them! The venue is very beautiful inside although it doesnt look like much from the outside. They just redid the main hall with new paint and floors. If you have an event there in the summer time they even have a deck off the hall that is licensed for alcohol! Couldn't ask for a better venue or group of people to work with! Thanks so much for the great day!
