Several steps had buckled due to tree roots and fixing it was an involved job. Not only did my steps need to be demo'd, but the original bricks needed to be preserved since they're no longer made in that size. The next step required large tree roots to be dug up and cut out. Finally the bricks had to be cleaned of the old mortar before being used to rebuild the steps. A lot of masons couldn't handle this because they either didn't have the skill for the demo or didn't want to bother with the detail required to preserve the bricks. Rafael was not only willing, but he also had the skill and attention to detail needed to do this job and at a competitive price. During the project he worked with me and was extremely accommodating with my feedback and requests. Not once did he ever give me an attitude or show any signs of being annoyed with my requests. I would have understood if he had though because I was being very particular about how the steps were done. He told me he understood because I'd be going up and down these steps every day and anything that felt off or wasn't done to my satisfaction would be a constant reminder and a daily source of frustration. When they were done, the steps are amazing and perfect. It would be difficult to tell that they weren't originally done with the house. I'm very happy with how they turned out every time I walk on them. Rafael and his team also did an amazing job cleaning up which included a power wash of the steps; an unexpected but welcome surprise. I'd hire Rafael and his team again without hesitation. Repeat Customer, Repeat Rave I originally had Hill…read moreConstruction out in 2012 and install a long driveway (70-80 feet) that goes from narrow, to a double its width, and a short walkway from the sidewalk to my steps. My home was built in 1894 and this was a serious upgrade from crushed rock. The next year I hired them again to install a lovely path (about 50 feet) on the other side of my house. I let several years go by. About a month ago I realized that all the pavers probably could use a refresh, so I contacted Roger. He remembered my house and the projects. We set up a time for him to come by. It was a pleasure to see Roger again. We walked all areas, he looked at everything and he agreed that my pavers were overdue for a cleaning and refresh. Within a day he provided a very reasonable quote, letting me know he would schedule me once he got the necessary materials from the supplier. He assured me the result would be very pleasing with more depth to the color. Roger and his brother, Steve, arrived the afternoon of March 24th. A full afternoon of thorough cleaning, which left me amazed upon the end of that process. The 25th was a long, full day of very meticulous and detailed work. I swear that every single "grout" line looks like it was addressed. New sand was applied, not missing any joins or spots. Then 2+ coats of sealant. I was truly amazed at the outcome. Some pavers were replaced, everything up to the standards of Hill Construction and exactly what Roger promised. They take pride in their work, and it shows. I will be better on staying up on the routine maintenance, but now everything is set for several years! Happy to share photos and answer any questions.

We had the unfortunate experience of having our previous contractor abandon our substantial…read morebackyard project prior to finishing. This project includes several structural retaining walls as well as about 1400 sqft of paver patios. I called several contractors to try to finish the job, but most were hesitant to take on someone else's work. We had Roger over to give a bid, and I could tell he was also hesitant, but he was sympathetic to our situation and offered to quote the completion of the job including adding the capstones on the walls and complete the patios. He then made several recommendations on materials and was very energetic about the project. Timing was right and they were able to start pretty quickly. Roger and his guys were incredible to work with, they were on site every day, worked efficiently, and completed the entire project in just under 5 weeks. The previous contractor did a poor job with pouring the base concrete for the stairs, making them uneven, but this was not a problem for Hill Construction Company, they were able to make the finished project perfect. When it came time for the railing to be installed, Roger even referred me to an incredible railing contractor who was able to make amazing rails to tie the entire project together. After several months, the project still looks perfect, very high quality work with amazing attention to detail. Hill construction turned a nightmare project that we were dealing with for two years into the yard of our dreams. We cannot recommend a better guy and company, thanks Roger!!
