I wish I had jotted down the name of the appetizer I ordered. But I can tell you that it was at the top of the menu, it was duck, it was escabeche, it was chile, it was stupendous. My main dish was their tumbuba, a Veracruz standard of soupy rice loaded wirh seafood and chile. Rather than desert, I ordered their green salad which was full of citrus fruit and a slightly sweet dressing. It was the perfect light ending. And if you like craft beer, you have to order their house brew. By itself I thought it was a bit too sweet. But when paired with their chile-laden food, its spot-on perfect.

I ordered the daily comida, which was a lentil soup followed by chicken in pepian sauce. Both were solidly prepared and I very much enjoyed them. Of course I had to get a churro, which for me was aa revelation. I'm used to the churros that you can buy on the subway platforms in NYC, which are soft and greasy. The ones here were crispy and light. I had mine with cajeta, a Mexican caramel sauce. Excellent, excellent, excellent.
