Tracy will be who I recommend to friends and family from now on. He started this business as an extension of his father's business (Caveman heating and air) in Bandon. His mom returned to school to become an engineer. He has been curious and learning how stuff works since he was a little kid and there is a real passion for fixing the puzzle of the mechanical problem. This company is not just selling you a new unit that you may not need yet. Tracy took the time to brilliantly construct a part no longer available for my old unit. He explained things to me and fixed a long time leak that confounded my plumber. His prices are low and fair, designed to maintain lifelong customers. I didn't need a new unit yet (Thank Heavens!), but when I do I'll be calling calculated comfort again! read more

I call them at around 11:48. Got a guy named "Don" (maybe "John") on the phone. He initially said he could come out at 2 pm, but I told him that was literally the only time that whole day I would be unavailable (from 2 to 3). He then said he could come over in an hour. Great. I watch Mr Robot, then experience a brief power failure right after. No one shows up. That power failure caused my security system some minor issues. The cameras were still recording, but I couldn't access the base station until everything was working again. That meant sitting at my front door with my dog with nothing on just waiting for this guy to show up. He never shows. At about 1:35 or 1:40 pm, I decide to call them and find out what is going on. My appointment time is coming up, and I am stressing about not being able to do my doctor's appointment if this guy randomly decides to show up during it. I get a guy named Dave on the phone. He says I am not in their system at all. Nothing about me in there whatsoever. So he basically has me start over. I explain the issue. He hits me with, "OOOOH YEAH I HEARD DON TALKING TO YOU", then says that he will try contacting Don to find out what was going on. During this call, he has a phone ringing in the background, and says that he has to answer that call. No idea who would be calling that would be more important than a frustrated customer who was talking to him right then (me). So that had me even angrier. He said he has me in the system now, and "wasn't going to forget about me" (I mumbled under my breath, "...again"), and he ended the call. I start my doctors appointment at 2 pm. Get a call about 5 minutes into the appointment (I ignore it, obviously). I return the call at 3 pm (immediately after my appointment), and I get some guy named Jeremy on the phone. He tells me that they showed up at 1 pm and no one answered. He said he knocked on my door and no one came. I had a very hard time believing that, especially since I was standing at my front door FOR CERTAIN at 1 pm with my dog literally just waiting for people to show up. He INSISTS that he showed up at the right house. I double check my address with him several times, and he sounded frustrated with me (like he had a right to be in the first place). He then says that someone can come tomorrow (7/8/2022) at 2 pm. He doesn't apologize at all, since he was right certain that I was the one who had screwed up. He tries to prove it to me by describing a bunch of stuff that wasn't in my yard. He describes a sign that I have never seen before, and says there was no bug netting on my porch. Also, the units are clearly labeled right at the street. No way any sane competent person would miss that. He still doesn't apologize to me, even after it is now KNOWN that he didn't show up at my house at any point. It is also important to mention here, that TWO of them came looking for me, but NEITHER of them tried calling my phone when they showed up and no one answered the door. I also mention to him that I now had access to all of my security footage that had been recorded, and there were NO SIGNS of anyone coming near my home at 1 pm. SO now we are at today (7/8/2022). Big surprise, no one shows up at 2 pm. This time, my GF and I are BOTH home, and BOTH waiting for someone to show up. The cameras are all fully functional, as well as the base station. I turn my ringer on max volume as well, so every single time my camera's picked anything up, I would get a notification. After waiting until 2:35, I leave my GF in the living room next to the front door with my dog. After I hit 3 pm, I am completely livid. I had no calls from them. No one showed up. Nothing. Absolutely nothing at all to indicate that these people have any interest in helping me in the slightest. I decide to call them at 3 pm to find out what is going on. Someone named Mary answers the phone. She admits that she had to look on YESTERDAY'S schedule to find my information. I wasn't on the schedule today at all. On top of that, they put me on the schedule YESTERDAY at 7 PM (still didn't show up then either). She puts me on hold to find out what is going on. She comes back about 1 minute later and says that someone just got there and they were coming right now to help me. I asked her why no one showed up at 2 pm, or at least called me. She had no answer. This means, had I not called them at 3 pm, I would have never heard from them again. So that promise about "not forgetting me" was clearly broken. I told her to not even bother, and that I would be seeking the services of another company or individual that would be more professional and reliable. I BEG anyone who needs hep to call anyone else. If these guys don't know how to use a phone, a computer, or know anything about customer service, I am not trusting them around my expensive air conditioner. I wouldn't even recommend they be near sharp objects. read more

These guys came highly recommended by a friend to install a mini split. The guys were friendly enough, but crew apparently had no idea what they were doing. From day one the A/C unit would randomly decide to flood the floor my shop. Not just a few drops....lots of water! They've been out over a dozen times now always with a different story of why its not working, only to be remediated by another unsuccessful attempt. I fully commend these guys for doing their best to try and fix their mistake....it's the busy season and they came out that any times! The problem is....it still doesn't work! This last trip i was told they won't be coming back and it was because of the product I sell makes stuff grow in there er sumpin.....strange that suddenly our place is the cause when the unit that has never functioned properly. I hate to leave a negative review, cause these guys really did try their best. Surely they are just as frustrated as I am by this whole scenerio and probably lost money on this deal. We gave these boys one tough job and they knocked it out of the park. We have an old barn that is also a house. They had to put in a full system and all the ducting. The job ran longer than they thought but they were professional and kind. They tried to make as little mess as possible. I have been trying to get these guys to show up to replace the ducting under a rental house that I own. They have their first payment to do the work, but have been uncommunicative, and have not scheduled the work, even though we have been talking to them for over a month. I'm very disappointed in their communication. Don't know about the actual work, as they have not done anything besides look under the house. read more

Forget the rest of the valley these guys are on another level. I've communicated with probably six of the staff now all of them bring a refreshing breath of fresh air to our valley. We have used them twice. The first time was perfect. On time, reasonably priced and a great friendly worker with a good work ethic. The second time there was trouble with the scheduler and we had to spend a lot of time on the phone with them to get them to come out the day we were scheduled. In the end they sent someone out after hours (no after hours charge) for the schedule mess up which we much appreciated. We scheduled 5 days ahead of time and it was Friday so we would have waited a few days and it's been so hot. So 5 stars for the first time and three stars the second time. In terms of their rates they are reasonable and do quality work. Both of the service men they sent out were friendly, knowledgeable and did good work. read more

As a retired Commercial HVAC Contractor in California, I was asked by my daughter & son-in-law in Grant's Pass to consult with Calculated Comfort over the phone in resolving a technical problem they encountered in their new Heat Pump installation. I was very impressed with with the owner's response and am pleased to write this Five Star review. From personal experience I will guarantee that problems can arise for even the best companies installing the most reliable equipment. I believe the stature of an individual or company is not measured by "if nothing goes wrong" but instead what is their response when that rare but inevitable problem arises. It should be reassuring for a prospective Calculated Comfort customer to know that a problem probably won't occur, but if it should, Calculated Comfort will quickly do the right thing by their customer. Our recent 88 degree days reminded me that our air went out last summer and we were unwilling to acclimate our body temps to accommodate. I did a great deal of searching here and on Angie's list because I'm terrible at adulting and don't have a mom to ask what my best option is anymore. TBH, the graphic design turned me off at first (I know....I'm kinda snobby when it comes to logos and graphics), but the reviews told me what I needed to know. One phone call later and I've got an appointment for the next day with a 12-5 window. Since we had to run an errand we disappeared by the time Gary got here, but he called and had the capacitor in our heating/AC unit fixed within 20 minutes by the time we got home! For a first time customer we were super impressed with the amount of professionalism, the speed of service and the instant comfort we felt with Gary (no pun intended...or was it?) The HVAC industry, in general, has not earned a lot of trust with most consumers. When the AC went out in my home, I felt sick to my stomach thinking I may have to pay something in the thousands to get my house cool. I called Calculated Comfort on a Sunday night. They returned my call and my email early Monday am. We agreed on an appointment time. They came out, told us it was just a fuse and only charged us $39. From start to finish, I was impressed. These people serviced my AC/Heat a month ago they used some kind of toxic cleaner in my coil the owner called me back and said he would never use it in a customers home again after finding out what his tech used The second tech that came out to rinse the coil down told me it was an industrial cleaner that was only supposed to be used on exterior cleaning only. Be careful of the owner Arlen he's totally not telling me the truth when I asked what it was so I could tell my doctor he would not give correct info. I've been to the doctor twice and on medication now for breathing. Dr. said it burnt my lungs and they will just have to hopefully heal be careful of this company they truly could have killed someone. I am updating this I've now been to the doctor four times and now have to go see a pulmonologist these people have been completely negligent please people be careful this has seriously complicated my life these people have not shown one concern I will update after pulmonologist report. read more
