I want to thank Stacy and his team at Calahan Construction & Air. I acknowledge you for your prompt response, expertise and integrity you displayed while restoring cool air back into my home. This is my story: On March 17th, 2020 my air conditioning unit failed to work. I called my home warranty company and they sent out a trained tech. After assessing my problem he recommended replacing my whole a/c unit because he said that the condenser coils are damaged due to dog urine. The condenser could not be replaced with a new unit because of the R 22 type freon phase out. This required a brand new system(the unit inside) with a new condenser(the unit outside). The home warranty would not cover this $12K charge because they said that the dog urine voided their warranty. I disputed this case and they required a second opinion. I hired another company to come out and they said the same thing. I contacted  Calahan Construction & Air and explained my situation and agreed to have a used condenser that was compatible with R 22 type freon to be installed for $1,200. It beat the lowest bid that I shopped around for a new system at $6k. Stacy came to my property on-time the next day to install the replacement condenser. After evaluating the system within the first 5 mins he discovered that indeed it was not the condenser causing the problem but a part inside of the unit. The cost of the replacement part was only $200. He topped of my freon and charged me the service fee and I was done for under $450. I want people to know by reading this review that you can't replace experience, a trained eye and integrity these days. It is hard to find with service professionals. Used them for 2 bathroom remodels in a rental property. Pros: Crew is courteous, friendly, and shows up on time ready to work. Job was completed on schedule or ahead of schedule. Crew cleans up area well EVERY day. Very good tile work. Price was fair. Not the cheapest. Not the most expensive. I got 5 bids. I was allowed some flexibility on the contract, which, if I hadn't had that, I wouldn't have hired them. They addressed any concerns I had as we went along. Good communication. I felt really good about them when I hired them after meeting Stacy Calahan who came to give me the bid. He is very realistic and accommodating. Reliability, skill, and honesty carry a lot of weight with me and these guys get an A in those areas. Cons: Wall texturing is not their strong suit. It was way too heavy and uneven. I don't recommend them for this. We had a mild conflict regarding a new spot on the carpet in the work area which I am certain was from their crew. I let it go because I figured I'd be replacing the carpet in another year or so and the fight wasn't worth it to me. Had that not been the case it would have gone differently. My air conditioner died two days before I expected a houseful of out-of-town guests! I received an estimate from one company and then called Calahan to get a second estimate. Stacey Calahan arrived the same day, and provided a thorough explanation of the options available. I chose them to do the work. Three technicians arrived the next day at the scheduled time, took care to cover their shoes and my hardwood floors. It was an all-day job that included renting a crane to place the new unit on the roof of my 3-story townhouse. Moses, Clarence, and the other tech (sorry I didn't catch his name) were pleasant, professional, and efficient. Constantly having to climb stairs did not affect their performance or demeanor. Stacey stopped by to check on the work and to touch base with me. He also called later that evening and the next morning to ensure the new unit was working properly and cooling the house. What a wonderful experience! Our air conditioner stopped cooling on Friday. Called and Stacey Calahan came out to investigate the issue. Our coil was leaking and was frozen. Stacey showed me pictures of all the issues. He then gave me a very reasonable quote to complete the work. They came out on Monday and completed the work in a very professional manner. Drop cloths were placed and the floors cleaned before they left. The system cools great! Stacey checked with us to see how the system was working the next day and even a week later when temperatures rose higher. So nice to have followup on their work. One other thing - Stacey had a young man helping him. I don't know if he was an apprentice learning the craft or not, but when he didn't know things, I heard Stacey explain in detail why they were doing this or that. I have been using Calahan Construction and Air for over six years now in two different homes. I have nothing but praise for Stacy and all his employees. In the first home Stacy and his crew replaced the entire system and did a terrific job. I got a new system in one day that was better than price competitive. They even noticed that my A/C pad outside was not in great shape and both replaced it and built up the grade without even asking me. Now in my new home for a little over two years, they have solved a water leak problem, replaced a capacitor promptly when the A/C went out last August, and now service the equipment on a regular Fall and Spring schedule. (2 different houses) From here on out Calahan Construction will be my FIRST call. I tried to give opportunities to friends of friends and gotten burned both times. Each time Mr. Calahan has come through to clean up their mess! In both situations previous repair companies offereoptions of new units or extremely high price repairs. Calahan did an awesome job for us !! We had an old AC unit that needed replaced. They came out (on time) - gave us a great price and we set a date for the install. They were never pushy only helpful on what we needed. They communicated timely and was always on-time and quickly responded to any questions we had. I've been a customer of Calahan Construction since 2012. I bought an old house that had been vacant and vandalized with a propane furnace that I honestly didn't even think would work. Stacey got it working to hold me over until I could afford to replace the unit. I decided to go with an all electric home and they installed the entire system including adding two much needed returns. They have provided the maintenance on the unit they installed ever since and I have no complaints.
