I have been remodeling a rental property and at every turn, there has been misc issues (mostly because it's a turn of the century home). My handyman was struggling with the GFCI circuits in the kitchen and also the furnace was not powering up - and had an error code about polarity. I hired an HVAC company who told me I needed a new board or a new system (for the low low price of $7,000). I had an inkling the problem was maybe electrical, and decided a second opinion on the furnace was a good idea since the system was not THAT old and I needed to address the GFCI circuit anyways. So I went on Yelp and found Cal Paso. Alex was my tech. And he did an ace job! He troubleshooted the GFCI problem and came up with a great solution for our hundred year old home where *nothing* is standard size or ever easy. His solution worked and even made the property *better* for the tenants by giving them more outlets than before. Then he went to the attic and solved the furnace issue. And technically there were two minor wiring issues involved, and if you've ever troubleshooted anything, it can be hard to figure out what's wrong when there's more than one problem! But Alex did. I will absolutely, 110%, use Cal Paso again. They saved me from an HVAC company who couldn't troubleshoot at all and was going to gouge me with a new system. And they made everything BETTER than I expected, at a fair and reasonable rate. read more

I sent an inquiry for estimate for a breaker repair yesterday around 9pm and by 6:30 am today I had a response that someone was coming to my house to repair my breaker and check some shoddy wiring that was missed from a remodel years ago that could have caught my whole house on fire. My breaker was replaced and they are coming back on site to trace another wire but in less than 24 hours I received a response from this company, had a repair tech on site and my order is nearly filled where as other "recommended companies" have yet to return my Voicemails and emails since last Saturday. We have a dinosaur swamp cooler, we had gone through completely, and no dice. Called Cal Paso and got a call back from Alex. He was out the next morning. Took his time and was very thorough. It wasn't the electricity. He suspected that it wasn't the electricity, but still spent the entire service call just making sure. Cal Paso doesn't do HVAC unfortunately. I have had cal Paso electric out to my home twice now and have had exceptional service each time. More recently Matt came out to install a smart thermostat so we could control the heater from our phones or when we are not home. I have a 3 month old baby at home and she was napping when Matt came and he went out of his way to try to be quiet while he worked since the thermostat was next to her room. Matt had to go up into the attic and was able to find the problem and fix it AND he didn't wake her! Very professional and great communication. I got a thorough, pages long email from the owner right out the gate before I even booked the job explaining the ins and outs of wiring on older manufactured homes and what might be involved to get the wiring up to date.
