Very tasty paella! Not too crowded yet with a nice intimate atmosphere. I saw a group who were almost turned away because they didn't make one.

La Paella De Su is a cute restaurant serving up authentic Valencian paellas. This was my first time…read morein Barcelona, and also my first time trying paella! I recommend making a reservation if you can, but I'm sure they allow walk-ins. The gentleman that served us was kinda and patient. He walked us through some of his recommendations. Their menu is scanned through a QR code with videos and pictures of all the paellas you can order. As our first time, we went with the classic 'The one from the beach bar' with shrimp, crayfish, and squid. The minimum order is for 2 people, so it was 50€. This was absolutely delicious, and very flavorful. This paella left a very good impression on us, and had us wondering if we could have paella this good back in the States. Perhaps we were hungry... perhaps us, Texans, just eat a lot. We decided to order a second one 'The Clumsy One' with duck magret and mushrooms. Since we had already 2 portions from the last the paella, the kindly allowed us to order 1 portion for this paella, 28.50€. When in Barcelona, you have to eat duck. It's just so good here. Duck was cooked perfectly. I think I might've liked this one better than 'The one from the beach bar.' Just a tip to actually order this one first because it does take a while to cook! Worth the wait, in my opinion! While waiting, we ordered a couple drinks. If you like sweet, you'll love the Valencia Libre - pretty much a spiked horchata. I highly recommend the clover club! Such a cute girly drink :)

Their Gambas à la Plancha looked like grilled shrimp with just a dash of herbs, but the shrimp is of excellent quality and you can taste the freshness of the seafood. Their Paella Marisco was the highlight for me. I'm sure there are many wonderful paella places in Spain, but compared to the ones I've had in the U.S., this one excels in flavor. Their Pimientos de Padron is equivalent to grilled shishito peppers found in many Japanese restaurants back home, but I love the simplicity of this dish. A little bit of rock salt really brought out the natural flavor. The peppers weren't overcooked either. They were the perfect texture. Their Patatas Bravas, quite simple, but yummy nonetheless. Piping hot when it came out. Potatoes were crisp on the outside, moist on the inside. Nice size chunks. Once dipped in sauce, tasty! The Crema Catalana was a nice touch to end dinner. This dessert is the Spanish equivalent of creme brûlée. Theirs was definitely more substantial - richer than most creme brûlées that I've tried and the toasted top layer, definitely well executed. Easy to get to on foot if you stay at a hotel close by. Not too pricey either for the quality of food served. Will definitely eat here if I visit Spain again.

We started with calamari, potatoes, and nuggets -- a delicious warm-up act. Then came the squid paella, which was out of this world. We also couldn't resist the tomato toast, and I'm still craving more even though I'm too full to breathe, let alone order another bite. Oh, and don't skip the sangria -- it washes everything down beautifully.

Paella here is top notch, especially the black rice. Rice grains are expertly cooked to maintain the right texture. They make an intense flavorful broth that is infused into the rice. Probably my favorite paella. Other highlights include the moralla (mixed fried fish), mussels, and clams. The also make great salads.

Our party of 4 Americans with no ability to speak Catalan, and only high school level Spanish, showed up at Banys Lluis for a late dinner with no reservation, but the servers who were able to speak English, were gracious, welcoming, professional and friendly. The servers gave us excellent recommendations for wine, and helped us select a wonderful paella from their many choices and wow, the paella was fantastic! Not until a few days afterwards, did I learn from Barcelona friends that people go to Sant Pol de Mar just to eat paella at Banys Lluis! The servers also brought out a 30 inch round metal tray with a selection of the catch of the day, and after we selected a fish, they cooked it beautifully, delicious with bold flavors. A lovely restaurant, tastefully decorated, excellent service, excellent paella. I would go back there and highly recommend it.
