Quality/Quantity - So unprepared on this trip! Did not know there was a PF across the street from…read moremy hotel... Anyway, I had time to kill while my wife shopped at TJ Maxx so came here to use their massage chairs and tables. But then I also forgot/left my airpods in the hotel room. With the rain/storm, there was NO way I was going to walk back. Ambiance - Decent size location. Many windows facing the mall, so I guess all the people walking by can watch you work out?!?! Similar to the one in Blossom Hill, San Jose. Even the Walnut Creek PF had too many windows for my liking. Two entrances, I entered from the rear of the building. Service - 5 stars, the team was welcoming. And patient with me as I have never had to fill out so many forms/steps to use the massage equipment. This is the first location that I had to do like 10 self service kiosk steps to use each massage machine! So many disclaimers, did someone get hurt?!?! Price - $15 to $24.99 a month. I am a black card holder. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1992 with your 2,500+ locations. And with this new location since June of 2022.

Planet fitness is great when it comes with price and machines but the environment is depressing,…read moreit's like no one is happy there, also the staff especially the person looking at the cameras harass you when you have a bottle water next to you, especially if you have wraps for joints, you can't even keep them next to you, can't even workout in peace without the staff bothering you, great for price and equipment but not really the place you wanna be when it comes to peace of mind.

Today was Day 13 and the start of my fifth week of my personal training with Kristina at Body…read moreTuners. Instead of doing my usual check-in, I thought it was definitely time to write a review. *My results are towards the end but I encourage you to read this in entirety instead of just scrolling down. This journey is more than just numbers. So much more. I used to be quite the active dancer in my 20s... then active teacher in my 30s (I didn't even have a desk the first five years because I never sat down)... but have found my new role as an almost in my 40s full time portrait and wedding photographer to mean less physical activity and more time sitting at a desk in front of the computer, editing and retouching. I tried doing different workout videos....... They didn't work for several reasons. The biggest of these reasons is that I have had several injuries *beyond typical sprains and broken bones* in my life: -both shoulders (dislocated as a toddler) -right knee (dislocated as a teen) -top three vertebrae + a rib (whiplash/dislocation as an early 20 something). The videos had certain exercises I thought I just couldn't do because of pain flaring up from previous injuries, so I would sit them out. I also found myself being in more pain post workout than I should have been. Most likely from poor form/doing the exercises incorrectly which made me even less likely to follow through long enough to see any real change. All of that being so sadly ironic in the sense that building the muscles around where I have had dislocations helps keep my bones in their correct locations. In essence, the more I can work out the less pain I feel from those injuries and the less likely it is that I will re-injure them. I tried dieting and even fasting..... Neither of those worked. I love food and already keep my diet mostly clean/organic/local etc. Any diet or fast that created any visible change in my body *without exercise* was too strict to stay with and honestly made life zero fun. Healthy and good foods create a space for gathering and bonding, which is hard to partake in when you're only allowed an avocado and three glasses of water every day. I've also tried, and left, memberships and group classes at three other gyms... The best of those three experiences was still impersonal and overall mediocre. I figured I just wasn't the gym "type". Then I met Kristina and learned about her gym Body Tuners through photographing for her engagement, wedding, her wife's maternity, and their daughter's newborn session. During this time, probably somewhere around their wedding, I expressed an interest in working out again and getting back in shape. Kristina generously emailed me exercises and online videos... that I never followed through with and *guilty face* figured she would never find out that I hadn't. But Kristina didn't give up on me. Before I was ever her client, she kept checking in. And checking in. That's when I knew I had to go beyond what I had tried in the past... and I hired her as my personal trainer. Kristina's incredible knowledge of her field is perhaps only matched by the incredible environment she has created at Body Tuners. She has presented me with a variety of exercises that keep me interested and work specifically on the goals I want to achieve. Whenever I have started to have incorrect form, she is there to correct me. Whenever I have pain from old injuries, she is there to modify my movements. Thanks to her, I can do SO MUCH MORE than what I ever thought I was capable of on my own or at a gym. With the end of each day of training I feel less fatigue and soreness and more energy and strength. Kristina affectionately calls her crew and members the misfit team. This is a gym environment in which I am finally the gym "type". At the end of the day, I'm not at the gym to hang out and look cool because I'm already in shape... I'm at the gym to wear the same gym outfit every day (washing in between of course) and sweat into it as much as possible while exchanging odd strained mouth noises, along with a few jokes, with people who accept others for who they are, wherever they happen to be on their journey to fitness. I feel camaraderie and true empathy in not only Kristina, but in the entire Body Tuners squad. When I'm there I feel like all of us are equal. When I'm there I feel like all of are holding each other up. When I'm there I feel like family. Kristina will humbly tell you that I did all of this. That she didn't make me fit. That it was my following through, my showing up, and my dedication to my goals that did this... but somehow, I've never been able to do this in my life on my own before Body Tuners. Coincidence? I think not. Here's everything I've lost so far in my journey and am definitely not missing: headaches insomnia skin issues extended PMS/bloating/cramping digestive issues laziness/lack of motivation and... SIX INCHES AND EIGHT POUNDS. Thank you from the bottom of my heart
