My fiance and I hired Melinda from Cake Goodness to make our cake for the wedding. Unfortunately, after accepting our payment, she stopped returning our phone calls all together. Finally, with 3 weeks to the wedding and STILL no communication, I went into Cake Goodness to express my growing concern. This review is long overdue--Cakegoodness did the custom cake, cupcakes, and cake pops for my daughter's first birthday and everything was AMAZING! Guests could not believe bakery items could be so moist and flavorful. Not only was everything absolutely delicious, but it all looked perfect! The owner sat down with me to design the perfect cake concept for our theme and number of guests, and it turned out even more beautiful than her drawings! On the day of the party, she delivered and set everything up, and she even came back to pick up the stands so I didn't have to make another trip. I could not have asked for more. Thank you so much!!! If I could give more stars, I would. Let me just say that every part of this cake experience was perfect. I met with them to discuss creating something special for my boyfriend's birthday and right from the start, I felt like it was the right decision. This woman is a true artist. From the conception of the ideas (mine were scattered, at best) to the final delivery, it was as smooth as icing. :) I wanted a triple layer, done with different themes to reflect his interests. She drew it out, in great detail and her creativity reigned perfection. As you can see by the picture, it was a detailed work of love and art. The staff was helpful, returned my email A.S.A.P. when I needed to add something and it was delivered on time and exceeded my expectations. It was the talk of the luncheon and tasted as good as it looked. Choc/Vanilla swirl bottom, Lemon Berry middle and the top was a smooth and delicious Red Velvet. It was a shame to have to cut into it! This is how it's done, folks. I had gone to another place and got a quote and drawing, but it was so amateur...what a difference!!!! Color shading, gold buttons and badge, personalized name and number, musical notes, golf themed top...and that's not easy to make something so beautiful for a man and keep it manly!!! Horrible service. We went in for a consultation for our wedding cake and got a quote and loved the design. Everything went great. Then when it came time to taste the cake samples, we had to text back and forth to try to set up a meeting time. After a few failed attempts, we never heard from her again. We are cupcake aficionados at this point. It's gotten pretty bad. However, I can easily say this place has the best cupcakes I've tried in the SCV. Not complicated, they were moist, not overly rich or sweet, just delicious and to the point! The BEST part was the staff. The girl at the counter apologized for only having containers designed to hold six cupcakes when we only wanted four, and I jokingly asked her if that meant we got two cupcakes for free to fill the empty spots in the box. I had the pleasure of working with Melinda for our wedding. She did our dessert and candy bar, along with a small cake. The work she does is AMAZING! She takes a lot of care and time into each of her displays/cakes. I'll have to post pictures later, but WOW! I didn't have time to eat anything at my wedding, but all I've heard is great things about the cakepops, sugar sammies, cake shots, candy, etc. The display was totally on target with our color theme and "feel" I wanted! I ordered a cake and dessert table from CakeGoodness in July. I talked to the lady setting it up which she was in and out but my cake had cracks at the top and she couldn't explain why it was covered with little black balls which I never was told or asked for on a $1300 dessert table. I wasn't going to comment on this but after calling and never getting a response back for months now I'm kinda irritated that I spent so much for a cake that was cracked at the top plus they never took pictures or posted it on their page so clearly that makes it seem like they weren't happy with the way the cake looked. I live close to CAKE GOODNESS and always walk by and wondered how they were. Finally I was able to try an oreo cupcake and a chocolate chip cookie. Both were AMAZING, PERFECT. The cupcake was moist, had a great amount of icing on top, excellent flavor. The cookie was also excellent, you could taste the butter. It wasn't overcooked or under, just perfect. So disappointed! I was so excited when I tried their cake pops to use them for my daughter's 1st birthday and have been in the shop several times to pick up their cakepops for various birthdays. When I was in the shop in August, I asked how far ahead should I make an appointment to discuss a cake and treats for my daughter's birthday party, they told me sometime in September. So 9/6 I sent an email, got an auto response that someone would get back to me in 24 hrs, no response! Sent another email 9/10 asking if they received my email, no response! Called today and was told it's too late they are not taking anymore orders for that weekend...? What the heck? When someone asks when they should make an appointment to discuss and give enough time and they try contacting you three different times, and oopps sorry no more orders. WOW! I am not a serial review writer, but this time I just had to say something about this bakery. Last weekend I had a surprise birthday (80) for my husband. It was fairly large, and held at a hotel. The bakery I used before for specialty work was in Beverly Hills, and they retired. I knew the other bakery in town couldn't do what I wanted, and I had read about CG..I wanted an East Indian theme, and to include something that pertained to a physician. The Cake she built was just Stunning. Expensive, but Stunning. Two carved pillows one on top of another, with indian decor. Quilted, Orange and Blue, with metalic Gold cording and even tassels, and a Stethoscope on top, not just any stethoscope, but one that looked authentic, and it was made of sugar.. The guests at the party actually wanted their pictures taken with it. Oh and it was a home made carrot cake, absolutely delish!!!
