I love that the tea gets served in large pots that come enclosed with a hand-knitted tea cozy. I've also eaten lunch here a few times and quite enjoyed the Coronation Chicken sandwich. If you're a Starbucks person and like slick and clean designs - this will be your nightmare though!

The scones and clotted cream were beyond amazing, and the sandwiches were great too! Only con is that this place is hard to find, but that's not their fault. After wandering around for like 30 minutes we finally found it. Go inside the market, go down the flight of stairs past the cereal shop and into the basement. Look around past all the clothes and bags for a bookstore, and past the books you will find the tea shop!

Their afternoon tea was for two people, and as just one person, the server recommended the cream tea and adding in a savory. I chose the pate (because I love pate!) over the sandwiches. I was pleasantly surprised that the server created a mini stack for me. The tea was quite flavorful but the scones were a bit lacking. Of the 4 tea places I went to this week, these scones were the driest. Even covering them in jam and cream wasn't enough--I wanted to dunk them in tea. The pate was delicious though, came with lots of toast, as well as fresh sliced cherry tomatoes and cucumbers. I also loved the fresh fruit (strawberries and cherries), and lovely marshmallows. Venue was also pretty cool--lots of visitors to people watch. Would recommend location, but skip the scones!

We found The Rose Lounge's Phantom of the Opera Afternoon Tea experience to be overpriced, overindulgent, and to have intentionally slow service, drug out for HOURS. We booked this experience the afternoon we arrived in London, thinking that it would be a great way to keep ourselves entertained while we fought off the jet lag. Unfortunately, it was quite the opposite as this could've put me to sleep. I believe our reservation was around 1 PM and we didn't leave until about 4. The first course was a few different sandwiches, which came with one of each for both of us. One or two of them were good, but a few were inedible in my opinion. Knowing how many more courses we had coming, we decided not to finish our sandwiches, which the wait staff commented on rudely. By the final course, we had been there for so long, and were so full, that we asked them to package it up to go. I'm not sure if this is common practice, but I had to sign a waiver that the restaurant wasn't liable if I didn't store them properly. Overall, it is really beautiful in here for a single cup of tea, but I would save my money and skip the overpriced experience. The Rose Lounge is easy to find, and staff at Sofitel St. James was really lovely in pointing us in the right direction!

Tasty scrambled tofu with sausage, sourdough toast and herby beans. The french toast and 'freakshakes' were also excellent and very filling. We didn't get to try them but the choice of cakes available was great and all of them looked lovely. The food was also excellent value for money. A couple of minor negatives: The downstairs area is not very pleasant and smells of damp. The music they were playing also kept speeding up and then slowing down. Not something I've heard happen since about 1985! The toilets downstairs were also minging: I mean REALLY bad. My daughter wouldn't use them as a result. Otherwise, a great place and very handy for Spitslfields Market, Brick Lane etc.

Went for Afternoon Tea…read more Food - 5/5. Teas had great aroma and gentle bitterness. Earl grey had a floral scent while the English breakfast had a stronger astringent flavor. The scones were the highlight of the entire experience. Compared to the scones in America, the ones here are more savory, firmer, and way less sweet. Despite the firm crust, the crumb is very soft, leading to an excellent texture. The clotted cream had a clean richness, having none of the heavy mouthfeel you get from cream. The jam emphasized the natural sweetness of fruit with a hint of sourness. The clotted cream and jam were spread into a perfect ratio, resulting in every bite of the scone having a balance of all three. Sandwiches were simple with the manchego being my favorite. The bread's drier texture and the cheese's strong flavor paired well with the tea. The cake were soft and very sweet. By themselves, the cakes were overpoweringly sweet but with the tea, it was perfect. Service - 5/5. Very accommodating and welcoming! They had an alternate schedule that day and we arrived near their closing time, but they extended it by 30 minutes to allow us to fully enjoy our afternoon tea. We didn't utilize the entire extension out of respect for their time, but that kind of generosity really added to the experience. Value - 5/5. I'm not entirely sure why the cost of afternoon tea is so high as many locations I saw were showing prices that were £80+ . In comparison, Tea and Tattle offers a traditional set for two people at a very reasonable £48. Portions were good and looked the same if not better than those offered at way higher prices. It is worth visiting just for their scones alone! Excellent location to experience afternoon tea. Parking - N/A

My sister-in-law is an amazing planner, and since we were meeting family in London for a few days, she planned a wonderful tea for us here at Tea and Tattle. This place is an old family bookstore that was then turned into a wonderful spot for afternoon tea {with still carrying on the feel and look of a quaint book shop}. Reservations are required since it is only large enough for two, maybe three seatings at a time. Once your party is seated, you will receive your menu and decide on the Tea menu that you desire {how many Teas, Sandwiches, Cakes and Scones - with a wide variety of each}. Would you prefer a Coffee, a Smoothie or a Salad? No worries, they have those options as well. Be sure to inform your host about any allergies as they can customize your tea settings based on any restrictions. The Hubs and I decided on the Tea For One - This included a pot of Earl Grey {or your tea of choice}, a selection of five Mini Tea Sandwiches which may vary {ours included Cream Cheese, Chive and Cucumber / Mature Cheddar and Chutney / Ham, Rocket and Red Onion Marmalade / Ham with Mayo, Mustard and Tomato / Chicken with Cucumber and Lemon Mayo Chutney}, Scones topped with a Delicious, Mouth-Watering Cream and Strawberry & Raspberry Jams as well as Lemon Cake and Mini Chocolate Eclairs. Each guest will also be served a deliciously tangy glass of lemonade as a final sip for the afternoon. Every single bite and sip of tea was perfectly paired and the experience was a wonderful way to spend our last day in London with the family. I highly recommend this experience if you want to feel a little extra fancy and enjoy a spectacular afternoon tea.
