I was paying enough attention during my infrequent Avon visits to know that Cake Gypsy would be a good dessert bakery. The problem for me was that, I was not paying enough attention to know that Cake Gypsy is in fact, absolutely freaking fantastic! I finally visited. I was immediately struck by how uber cute the shop is. Clean whites. Bright Yellows. Candy borders. Giant Cupcakes. At least one Giant Ice Cream Cone. Wood floors. Cupcake tower after cupcake tower. And so on. And SO forth. 10/10 atmosphere that I didn't see coming. The cupcake options were top tier in terms of types and quality. I don't know how they possibly can have so many on display. There must have been around 30 varieties and about 10 of each kind on display. They can't possibly sell that many cupcakes while they're still peak fresh can they? I don't know that, but I know this. I bought a half dozen to split with my family. I had a Coconut Cream cupcake on Day 1 and a Lemon Raspberry on Day 2. They were maximum fresh. My son said the same thing about his Ice Cream Sundae cupcake and Reese's Cup cupcake. That's all I need to know. We also agreed that they're our favorite cupcakes in CT. They're standard sized cupcakes rather than oversized, which I appreciate. They're priced accordingly, and frankly seemed like great value. The cake was light rather than dense and heavy. The icing was perfectly formed, but still smooth and velvety. The flavors were pitch perfect. I cannot imagine better cupcakes for my tastes. I was focussed on the cupcake side of the business, but I did notice that they had ice cream as well. Their website mentions hot chocolate bombs. I don't even want to know about those. Cake Gypsy is amazing! I can't wait to go back. And probably won't. Five Stars

After much mulling, I've figured out what "bugs" me about this place - it belongs on the coast. It feels like it belongs in a beach town, but instead is a perfect summer stop inexplicably in Simsbury. There are designated parking spots, and it shares the building with a shipping store. But when you walk into the mercifully air conditioned space and are greeted by the cheerful bright yellow - total beach vibes! The Cake Gypsy has everything but cake - cupcakes a plenty, ice cream, cannoli, candies, and frozen drinks. (I recommend a frozen drink on a hot day while you browse cupcakes. The hot chocolate is delicious) The cupcakes are amazing to see and will take time to pick the best one. They're moist, the frosting is plentiful without being too sweet, and by the register there's even a pup cupcake! The owner is super friendly, thanked us for coming in while we thought over our frozen drinks (they have some seating by the entrance), and let us know where her other establishments are located. The employees were well staffed by numbers, and therefore everything was pulled quickly.

Always the absolute best cupcakes anywhere in the state. Hands down. Enough said. But really, go get these cupcakes. Perfect for a quick stop or last-minute ordering.

A cute shop, fun, interior design. The cupcakes are average at best, nothing out of this world. They just look prettier than they taste. Allergen friendly. The staff are nice.

It's hard to tell what's sweeter -- the gorgeousness of the store, the tempting variety of their goods, or the sweet disposition of their staff. We visited Cake Gypsy Avon yesterday to pick up some cupcakes with our grandchildren in mind. When we told Missy who they were for, she became an enthusiastic fountain of knowledge letting us know which ones were very popular for kids. She was as sweet as could be, and a real joy to work with. We ended up with 6 cupcakes including MIssie's kid-friendly recommendations of Birthday Cake, Cookie Dough, Worms & Dirt, and Mermaid. They were gorgeous to look at and were delicious. We bought two cake slices for ourselves - cinnamon walnut and crumb cake. They were both very good but I'd say the cinnamon walnut was moister and better. Everything cost $23 and that was a very fair value for what we received. Thank you Cake Gypsy and thank you Missy for a great customer experience.

Ambiance: this place is adorable. Very dainty and sweet. Perfect vibes for a cupcake place. Service: each person we encountered was beyond friendly. Food: their cupcakes are to die for. Extremely moist, amazing flavors, and the decorations are on point. We will definitely be back.

Cake Gypsy is a really great cupcake store in Avon Village Marketplace. It's so cute. There's plenty of parking. The place is full of cupcakes. You have so many choices. They will put a nice Happy Birthday sign on the cupcake! There's treats for doggies too. They have gluten free things too, and there are other desserts too, like cannoli. Service was nice.

EXCELLENT place to get your sweet tooth fix settled. Their specialty is Gluten-Free, vegan, dairy-free, peanut safe. The great thing with all of that is, it's not taste-free (meaning, it doesn't taste nasty) the vegan cupcake with dairy-free frosting tasted very good. My combination of choice was the red velvet cake with strawberry frosting. The second choice would have to be the lemon cake with lemon frosting. Find out your combination by indulging in a bite or two, or three.. Or a dozen. Great tasting cupcakes for those who have food allergies.

First off, it's definitely one of those small, tucked-away spots you could easily miss if you didn't know it was there, but once you walk in, the decor is so cute. Think cozy, shabby chic vibes that make it feel warm and welcoming right away. The standout for me? The dinner roll. Honestly, one of the best I've ever had. It was dense, rich, and satisfying, not your typical light, airy Kaiser roll. It reminded me more of a Jamaican hard dough bread in texture and weight, which I personally loved. Super flavorful and filling. I was also really happy about their buy three, get one free promotion. It made it easy to try a few different things without feeling like I was overdoing it. As for the pastries, I tried the cinnamon roll and carrot cake. I didn't finish either, but the carrot cake definitely gave true homemade vibes. It had coconut mixed in, wasn't overly sweet, and felt more traditional than indulgent. If you like a less sugary, more classic-style carrot cake, you'll probably appreciate it. Overall, this bakery is worth a stop, especially if you're exploring the pastry trail. Not everything wowed me, but there were definitely some highlights that made it a good visit.

It is a small bakery with a limited selection (i did, however, go late in the afternoon), but the pastries were perhaps the best I have ever had - no exaggeration. The proprietor was incredibly friendly and welcoming, but most importantly she can bake! While in the area i also went to the Paris Baguete (in West Hartford), and there was absolutely no comparison - Le Bahn Patisserie is operating on a completely different level, and if you are planning a trip to Paris Baguette I would highly recommend going to Le Bahn instead. As noted, there is a smaller selection, so I would probably call ahead to see what she has, but if you are looking for some of the finest baked goods you have ever tasted you owe it to yourself to make the trip to Le Bahn Patisserie - you really won't regret it! I find that most bakeries drown their flavors in sugar, glazes, and frosting, while the pastries offered at Le Banh Patisserie deliver the perfect balance of taste and texture without being cloyingly sweet. If you are a fan of crossaints, you owe it to yourself to give these a try - they are golden and flaky on the outside with an incredibly buttery and airy center, and baked to perfection. Whether you choose the almond, chocolate, or classic butter, I guarantee you won't be disappointed, and will likely feel as if you just stepped out of a Parisian café. The scones are equally delightful with a crisp exterior while remaining soft and moist in the middle, and abounding in flavor. Also, be sure to grab a Doodle cookie (or two) before you go, and give the Vietnamese coffee a try - you'll be glad you did. Above all else, the owner/baker is one of the friendliest and most personable people you are likely to meet, and I could have spent the entire afternoon talking with her. After complimenting her on the quality of her treats and contemplating the lack of decent bakeries in the area, she was generous enough to recommend other establishments which she thought would be worth trying. In addition, after telling her I would love to possess her skill, she encouraged me to give it a try and even gave me a few resources with which to begin my baking journey. Overall, I can highly recommend this hidden gem as perhaps the finest confectionary I have ever had the good fortune to stumble across, and would honestly suggest to anyone that they would be doing themselves an incredible disservice by failing to stop in one afternoon and give Le Banh Patisserie a try

Their mission is imbued in their staff, products, how they set up their space, and how you order. We came here for breakfast on a weekday and had a lovely experience. They have breakfast and lunch cafe menus (+catering), yummy pastries (cookies, muffins and scones) and various coffees and drinks. We enjoyed the omelette (if you order more than 3 ingredients there's a charge) and the village breakfast which was eggs, potatoes (slightly blackened), sourdough toast (or wheat) and bacon. Prices are fairly standard ($11-14) and portions not very large. The panetonne, toasted coconut, and chocolate chip scones ($5 each) were all good and baked well. The honey latte and hot chocolate (most drinks are $4-8) were also very creamy and delicious, though slightly too sweet for our tastes (made it taste good though!) You order at the counter and then take a table and place a marker with nice words like "love" and then your food is brought to you. The actual space is very inviting, with lots of nooks and crannies (tables with chairs, couches, a fireplace). They also sell t-shirts ($30) and sweatshirts ($40-50?) which are pretty soft material, as well as ground coffee, cards, granola, etc. The other half of their space is their homemade pasta place so it's a unique layout and looked fun as well. There were plenty of customers cycling in and out, many sitting down with a warm drink and a pastry. Parking isn't huge but was not super super small but could be an issue if they got an influx of folks hanging out. Wouldn't blame them though because it's a comfortable place with free wifi.
