Cake Bash Studios created the most beautiful cake for my friend's birthday. It was so authentic that my friend thought it was an actual "extra large" tea cup with the cake baked inside. She was in awe when the restaurant cut into the tea cup. It was chocolate with strawberries and her husband described it as "luxuriuos". I have never tried their cakes or desserts but wanted to order a custom birthday cake for my daughter based off their photos and reviews. It was such a bad and stressful experience. Cake was ordered a week ago. Called in to check if it was ready at 2 pm today and they told me later. Called again to let them know I was on my way. My ETA was 5:10 and lady on the phone informs me they close at 5 pm. I'm assuming you would have the courtesy to wait 10 minutes for a cake you were running behind making. Lady on the phone was not willing to wait. So, I asked if she can just leave it at the business next door. I even offered to pay extra for her to wait. She said she can wait 15 minutes which was a lie. We got there at 5:10 and store was locked up. Paid $200 for a custom cake. Very unprofessional and poor service. I will definitely not recommend this place to anyone. I'd rather spend my money on a place that has a bit of empathy and service. I had a very disappointing experience with Cake Bash recently. I had booked a tasting over the phone and called twice to confirm the appointment. On the day of the tasting, I arrived with the birthday girl, excited to try their cakes. However, the visit started off poorly. The manager of the smoke shop next door came out and circled my car, demanding that I leave or I would be towed. Despite the limited parking spaces, I moved my car and went back into Cake Bash for our tasting. Upon entering, we were asked to sign in with our email, and the staff informed us about the prices, which start at $130 for a cake. I was fine with the pricing and ready to proceed. However, what happened next was truly shocking. The woman at the counter told us that if we wanted to taste anything, we would have to purchase it and eat it at home. I was taken aback by this policy. I had clearly communicated that we were coming in for a tasting, and I did not expect to have to explain what a tasting entails to the owner of the shop. This lack of clear communication and poor customer service left a bad impression. I had anticipated a professional and welcoming experience, especially after confirming our appointment twice. Instead, we were met with confusion and an unwelcoming atmosphere. Overall, I would not recommend Cake Bash based on this experience. It was very disappointing and not at all what I expected from a professional cake shop. Following up on the reply below from the owner. IT WAS NOT clearly communicated that you had to buy cakes. Where do I start?? When I picked up my little one's 1st birthday cake I was almost brought to tears but I stopped myself because I didn't want to ruin my eye make-up! LOL The ladies over at Cake Bash Studio created such a cute, airplane theme 1st birthday cake for my baby boy! l placed my custom cake order about 2 weeks before the party and brought with me some pictures of what I had in mind. I told the cake designer there I was open to her creative ideas on what she thought would look good too! I was really reluctant to write a review on yelp and instead called the shop right after my son's birthday party. This shop misspelled my son's name on the cake when the paper I filled out said ALDEN and not AIDEN. How disappointing and embarrassing is it when you are about to cut the cake and everyone notices it said AIDEN instead of ALDEN. We paid over $240 for this cake and they couldn't get the name right. After looking st the cake image I sent her for replication, she didn't replicate the "Happy Birthday" or the black balls around the cake. As I spoke to the owner, she tried to argue with me that "my husband saw it and was okay with the cake". When the party starts in half an hour and he is rushing over to the venue, he wasn't looking at every single detail. For goodness sake, we would hope the baker would get the name right. In addition, she pursued to tell me that was the "Batman font" and the the letter "L" is like a lowercase when in fact it is not the Batman font. If you google Batman font, there's no lowercase "l" mixed with uppercase and this was definitely not a typical Batman font. I told her " why would everything else be capitalized and not the "L". Instead of apologizing, she was really trying to cover up the mistake. When we let our ego get the best of us, we forget to listen and I feel like she was failing to listen to me and take constructive criticism. Great food can't make up for bad service but great service can make up for bad food. In this example, I was more turned off by her lack of taking responsibility for a mistake and now that I have compared the images, I'm saddened that we spent so much money and to feel embarrassed at our son's birthday party with everyone noticing the name didn't read "Alden" but instead "Aiden". This was a little boy's birthday. I barely had cake the same night of the party and I'm not sure what the hard cream is made of but it was very hard!?! After finally asking me what could she do to better the situation, I told her I would like some kind of credit. She did tell me to let them know next time I wanted to order something and they would make it right by me but honestly, I won't be coming back to this business. I was extremely excited to hire her to design our cake after speaking to a few bakeries and instead, ended up quite disappointed. It shouldn't be that hard to apologize right away instead of a customer having to ask for an apology from a business owner. read more
