Restaurant is not as described in Yelp listing. Food was ok but disappointing when we were looking for a truly Cajun focused meal

After reading some of the reviews, I went in with mixed expectations. While the restaurant is a little tired around the edges, it's nowhere near as bad as some reviews make it out to be. The waitstaff was wonderful--super attentive, polite, and made the experience enjoyable from start to finish. I ordered the fish and chips. As a girl from Alaska, I'm always hesitant to order cod fish and chips. The fish was a little tough in my opinion, but the chips were fantastic and easily the best part of the meal. I also ordered a side of coleslaw, which was good but could have used a bit more seasoning. My two dining partners ordered the shrimp basket and the oyster basket. The shrimp basket looked terrific, and it's definitely what I would order on a future visit. Both of them raved about their meals. I will say the portions are very generous Overall, this feels like a bit of a hidden gem. It may not be fancy, but the service was excellent and there are some solid menu items worth coming back for. I'd definitely return.

IMO, I've never been a huge fan of Pacific Boil, but my son likes it. The lobster tails were a joke. They just looked like large shrimp. Barely any meat, and no taste. The shrimp were straight up gross. They were mostly mushy in texture, and had HUGE poop lines that just squished into the shrimp. Gross. I threw half of them away. My son even admonished they've gone downhill and that's saying a lot seeing he used to love them. For $160, it was beyond disappointing. We will not be back.

This was our second visit to Portland and our second time dining here. We enjoyed their food last…read moretime, and this time, found it just as good. If you appreciate 'terroir' and how each environment impacts food sources uniquely; then you will appreciate the food of the Northwest. I have never experienced a raw oyster as I did that evening. I odered three on ice; all delicious but one especially just knocked me off my chair. It was so luscious and creamy, you must order it. The waiter informed me that it was a Pacific variety, but originated from Japan. We started with complimentary sour dough bread, soft and tasty. Then we shared a freshly prepared 'Classic Ceasar romaine, torn croutons, radish, Parmigiano-Reggiano, garlic-anchovy dressing This was exceptional. No bottled dressing here, hand-made and very tasty! My wife opted for the 'Fish + Chips: cider battered Pacific cod, fries, slaw, lemon' This arrived crispy and generous portions of fresh cod. Again, very well prepared. I chose the 'Sturgeon Picatta: butter-whipped yukon potatoes, lemon-caper sauce, wild mushrooms, crispy shallots persillade' If you have never tasted sturgeon, this is a must-try dish. The fish is moist and sweet tasting and has a very nice texture. All in all, we quafed local beers and enjoyed our meals immensely.

My wife and I visited this restaurant on our last night in Portland…read more Having consumed a significant quantity of food during a food tour a few hours earlier, we were not looking for anything heavy to eat. Feeling peckish, we ordered a few lighter items from the restaurant's menu, including a cup of clam chowder, a Dungeness crab roll, and a charcuterie board consisting of cheeses and smoked fish. The clam chowder was delicious. Liked that the chowder had actual clam shells inside. Also thought that substituting potatoes with gnocchi was a nice twist on a typical clam chowder. Made the chowder feel lighter. The Dungeness crab roll was tasty as well. Reminded me of a lobster roll since it came with a toasted and buttered lobster roll style bun. It came with a generous portion of crab meat, which was nice. The charcuterie board, or "Boards," as it's indicated on the menu, was the highlight of our meal. They allow you to build your own board from a list of artisan cheeses and smoked fish. We got the Aarewasser (cheese from Switzerland), Somport Fermier (goat cheese), Sockeye Salmon Dip, and Smoked Trout. If you order the board, you should definitely try out the Aarewasser. It's a cheese with medium firmness that tastes like a high-quality cheddar cheese. The smoked trout was surprisingly good. Not usually a fan of trout, but this one tasted different-a lot less fishy than I expected. All in all, our entire meal was satisfying. I'm not going to say anything we had was mind-blowing. However, it was a pleasant way to conclude our food-driven trip in Portland.

We stayed here…read morethrough the Amex FHR so we got $100 food credits + 20% discount and free breakfast up to $60. Food is good but the Portland food scene is strong so you can get something similar for cheaper and with better service, because the service is terrible here and they do an automatic 22% service charge which is not deserving for the poor service The restaurant has a cozy interior and a beautiful exterior with river views, and we opted indoors as there were mosquitoes outside and we did not bring bug spray. For dinner, we had lobster bisque with sourdough, ahi tostadas, octopus a la plancha, and hazelnut sturgeon with gigantic beans. The lobster bisque was okay, not creamy and felt more like a tomato soup with lobster chunks. Ahi tostadas were incredibly tiny - 3 pieces for $15. The octopus was good but only a few pieces with lots of potatoes inside - again value not there. The sturgeon was delicious but the beans were a bit rough. Decently executed but $44 for this is quite steep. One plus is that we ate right after social hour where hotel guests get free small bites and various wines that is more or less unlimited so that saved a bit of money on alcohol For breakfast, we had a mushroom hash which was very salty. The King Tide omelette was delicious - egg was a bit overcooked but the inside is creamy with a good amount of lobster - which it has to be for $32. We also got lemon ricotta donuts freshly fried which was also delicious. Service is where the reviews tank. If they are charging such high prices, the service must be amazing. However, it felt quite the opposite. During dinner, no one took away plates and so we ended up presented the bill with dirty plates stacked high on the table - very unclassy look. It took a while to flag the server down. For breakfast, most of the tables are empty but they forced us to wait 15 minutes at the sofa which was occupied so we had to awkwardly stand the whole duration. It would have been better if they seated us with menus and give us a heads up they are backed up and would need some time to serve us, so that way we can decide what to order in the meanwhile. Also, unlike the other tables, they never proactively gave water. Such huge misses in service felt like they are complacent that they get the 22% service charge and not try...

That said, this may be a new favorite. I walked two miles from the Marriott Bidwell and crossed the Willamette River to come here (an added bonus: I love how walkable Portland is). The restaurant is low-key and ultra-casual with patio and bar dining. I went for the bar, since that is usually the best option for interaction when dining solo on a work trip. Great choice: Alex the bartender and the folks seated at the bar were super-friendly. Now the food... holy moly! Fantastic oysters (I have to have oysters whenever I come to the PNW)! Briny, sweet and delicious, with a tasty garlic mignonette. Next up: Spot Prawn Crudo in a coconut lime "milk" with red onions. Tender, complex and delicious. Now, the main course was probably the best steelhead I've ever had. Sustainably sourced from an indigenous-owned farm in Washington. It was incredibly Buttery, with rich umami... perfect! I came will an Asian-style kale slaw and coconut sesame rice. The chili crisp oil topping put it over the top. This place was perfect. I will be back.

The mashed potatoes are one of the best ever in terms of flavor and texture (and I do not play about potatoes). No matter what entree you get, you're in good hands.
