    Salmon pizza
    Susanna N.

We found this place randomly and were so glad we did. Rome is full of overpriced Touristy traps but the service, food and ambiance here are amazing. The prices are very fair, especially compared to the rest of Rome. Pasta is 9 Euro and pizza is 8-12 euro. Amatriciana & salmone pizza were very good, but honestly I don't think you can go wrong here. Pro tip: they have happy hour & outdoor seating!

Great meal and wonderful staff! As Americans we tried our hardest to order in Italian. Sara and Jolanta were sweet and patience. We ordered the Funghi pizza, boscaiola pizza, and house wine. SO GOOD! Thank you Cajo & Gajo for a great experience!

Came across Cano and Gajo while walking through the Trastevere neighborhood. The neighborhood itself has a buzz to it and this restaurant fits right into that. The restaurant is small, but it was comfortably packed with people who were having a great time. Lots of good music with plenty of singing and laughter. The waiters were also really fun and upbeat as they pressed us to keep drinking before we could finish each glass. Speaking of the wine, we had a few glasses of their red, which were delicious. They have a really good selection. Foodwise, we had their sample platter which came with chips, small pieces of pizza and salad. All we're good and paired well with the wine and atmosphere. Overall really cool place worth checking out while in this area.

Got a table here because they were the only ones open around 11:15, despite there being two or three other restaurants with outdoor seating. Definitely caters to and international crowd (read: touristy) BUT, the service was friendly, the pizza was very good and they did not rush me although I was waiting for a friend to finish a photography tour and I had an app, espresso and glass of rosé and relaxed for an hour or so before she came. The crispy Roman artichoke was delicious! She enjoyed her pasta as well. Food was good, 3.5 stars. Service was unobtrusive, and when I asked for crushed red pepper for my pizza, the owner came out with a chili pepper lei and did a little dance! :) Then he insisted on us taking a picture! I also observed him humming/singing while he worked, so you can tell he loves his job. Thus the 4 stars!

Love at first sit! I'm so glad I found this gem while walking through the street of Transverse. Giardo and the rest of the staff were fantastic and the food was AMAZING! I would eat here everyday but there so much to taste and explore around here. I'll definitely be returning here before I depart.

    Rigatoni Amatriciana. Disappointing...not too authentic.

Service: was very good, especially by Italian standards. It was pretty busy and the waiters were still attentive and very nice. We sat outside and it was actually quite uncomfortable for my family as the outside seating is on a total slant. We just felt as if our chairs were going to fall over with one wrong move. Even the tables were little wobbly. Food: not good. Straight up...not good at all. Not by our standards. I didn't want to go here to begin with bc as soon as we walked up, there were just too many tourists (and not the kind that appreciate quality food). But, everyone was starving and didn't want to walk any further. Actually the Roma artichoke appetizer was delicious. It was everything else that was subpar. Really for unknowing tourists. Bathrooms were super clean though! And yes, as some other reviewer(s) stated, it is quite loud with the music, but you get used to it in few minutes. 3 stars because the service was good. And as we were leaving the waiter came over to me and seemed concerned why we didn't eat all of our food and if everything was okay. It's not his fault that food not great.

Today we decided to explore Trastevere, an area of Rome which, for NYers, is similar to Williamsburg. So basically, older buildings and structures, cute shops and interesting restaurants. For lunch, we decided to check out Cajo & Gajo and we're not disappointed. We stopped by for lunch to a clean, fun, outdoor atmosphere (it never gets old to watch the waiters chase the pigeons away) and a fun staff. We had the baked eggplant entree, Cajo & Gajo pizza and the fried (Roman) artichoke appetizer. All was great. The eggplant had a great flavor to it, while the various ingredients in the pizza mixed nicely. Everything was flavorful and satisfying, enough that I want to go back soon! The restaurant has a fun, very Italian atmosphere. The staff is super friendly and rather attentive, which is rare in many places in Rome. Our waiter was Enrico, who was super cool and fun. They even have us complimentary Limoncello shots after our meal. Highly recommended!!!

We just walked through some random streets until we came across this sweet little piazza with 2 or 3 Restaurants. Choosing the one with the prettiest lighting and some (pop?) music we sat down outside.. luckily! This was the best pizza we had during our trip! Try out Pizza Cappriciosa or Salami and you won't be disappointed! The staff was super fun and friendly but also super slow and sometimes not even present for like 15 minutes so there was no one to ask for anything... We waited about half an hour to ask for the bill and another 20 minutes to get it ;-) otherwise it would've been 5 stars for sure. Great food, great vibes, cozy place and fair prices! Cheers!

Rice balls, pizza and Roman artichokes

One of the best and cheapest restaurants we went to during our 4 day trip to Rome. We wanted to explore the trastevere area and got the taxi driver to drop us off at the Santa Maria church. Cajo and Gajo was the first restaurant we spotted and boy are we glad we did. Cajo and Gajo seems like a trendy restaurant in a trendy neighbourhood. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, food was cheap and delicious, and drinks were pretty inexpensive too. We ordered some famous Italian rice balls which id been dying to try (EUR5), Roman artichokes which turned out to be oily crispy flakes which I didn't enjoy too much (EUR5), and a huge delicious pizza with all the trimmings (EUR8). I ordered a passion fruit mojito which was the best cocktail ever while my bf ordered 2 glasses of red wine (he said it was the second best wine he had in Rome). Drinks service was pretty slow though and my bf got his second glass of red wine after we had finished the meal much to his annoyance. To finish off we had vanilla ice cream soaked in coffee and baileys which was freaking delicious. The total bill came up to around EUR37 which isn't too bad for Rome. This was definitely my favourite all round restaurant.

Perfect little gem on a small Square in Trastevere. Friendly waiters and a great atmophere. The food is lovely - Go for their bruschetta and their tiramisu, which is almost perfect. Prices are very low - 70 euros for three people.

Enjoyed this restaurant tucked away on a square in Trastevere. Service (Jonathan) was attentive, and food was quite good. Calamari was very good and pesto was outstanding. Recommend!

Came for a quick lunch. We were sat very quickly and did not have any problems with the service like other yelpers. They werent too busy and everything came out quickly. They even helped us with our bags. The pizza was good not great. There are better pizza places. We also ordered the meatballs and those were very good. I would recommend those. They also sold us on getting the breadsticks which were a good addition to the meatball dish.

Amazing pizza. We could not get over how fresh the cheese tasted.

Everyone needs a trip to Italy, if nothing more than to enjoy all of the food…read more When you've landed, you're hungry, and it's not lunch time, and it's not dinner time, you may end up, selling for whatever you can find is open We were absolutely starving, and wanting to indulge in our first Italian meal, what do you do when you're in Italy?! You may want to indulge in pasta or pizza! We walked in, and we were immediately seated. Air conditioning is nonexistent, and on a hot summer day, it would've been cooler to dine outside. had that been an option, and it was 95° out. As soon as we were seated, we were immediately told that Pizza and some of their baked Italian dishes were not going to be available. Boo. The wait staff seemed fairly nice, and offered to bring us glasses of water. The glasses were super tiny, and thankfully the waitress brought over a carafe of water. We asked for a few suggestions, since both of us had been craving pizza, and she suggested the Carbonara. She said it was one of the best dishes. While we were waiting for our food, several other tables were immediately filled up with other customers, families and friends alike. It was interesting that those tables were served pizza... I'll just leave it at that. The carbonara Was anything less than delicious. We both found the pasta to be barely cooked. Not al dente, but barely cooked. The seasoning was mediocre, and there was very little pork, which is supposed to be the highlight of this dish, in this dish. Diners tip: if you are not a local, keep in mind that your version of Customer Service may or may not fit what Customer Service is in Rome. Despite being hungry, I had a hard time, finishing the food, let alone actually eating it. The waitress only came over at the end to drop off the check, and when she noticed that I had barely eaten anything, first gave me a strange look, and then asked about it. It was definitely one of those situations where saying something was wrong would've been met with unwanted attention. This is in a place to add to your must try list... There are plenty of other places, even in and around this area that more than likely would be a better choice.

Bufala pizza with red sauce and lasagna was excellent. Seating was fast and good serviceread more
