We've been to many wineries and breweries in Woodinville. Of the dozens we've visited over the…read moreyears we've only encountered one place that was not pet friendly, and that was because they had a full service restaurant inside. The tiny amount of limited canopes that Bunnell was serving was not enough to require them to ban pets, but they did anyway. How do I know? Virtually all of their nextdoor neighbors had some variation of the same appetizer menu but were pet friendly. Western WA is a very pet friendly business culture, I'd highly advise this winery to understand their market better. Now to the wines. As you can see from the attached photo there were two tasting flights offered to Woodinville wine pass holders. My wife and I wanted to try both so each of us got a different one. The staff were fairly friendly and answered all of our questions. The wines were very disappointing, especially for the price. Several of them tasted off in the sense that the noses were quite harsh and in some cases extremely alcoholic almost as if you are expecting fortified wine or brandy, and then the taste did not follow up anything like that. The body and finish of the wines we're decent but the horrible nose on several of them was bizarre and strange, I have never encountered anything like it. Given the prices we did not feel that this was a good value and we could not understand what was going on. I don't think the wines were corked but we could not understand the strange smell coming off of them. It is of note that the wines here were older than what you would typically see at a tasting room, I'm not sure if this is only because they had been cellared longer, or were part of a reserve selection business model, however it may have had something to do with how alcoholic their aromas presented. The most extreme examples were the ALX, the Scion and the Vestige. The chardonnay was actually decent given the neutral oak they had used, but we prefer stainless, plastic or concrete for whites, as wood often overpowers chardonnay, even old French oak. The price was not bad but we're not really chardonnay fans so if we're going to get it it has to be amazing. And I've had amazing chard bottles for 12-15$.

The wines are lovely- I did a full tasting and was impressed with all of them. My favorite was the Bordeaux blend, and I went home with a bottle! Cassie wasn't server and she was incredible! Super friendly, attentive, and gave me just the perfect amount of details on each wine. She really made the experience top notch for me. Unfortunately I think they were getting their signals crossed for who was handling whom. Nonetheless the servers were kind and trying to shuffle serving tables. The tasting menu had changed since November which meant trying different kinds! I really don't like Rose usually because it tends to have what I feel is a muddled taste not typically distinguishable... BUT I REALLY liked theirs!! So much so that we purchased a bottle for another day. **2023 Sangiovese Rose: sweet with tinge of citrus; don't like rose but really liked it!! **2022 Viognier: tart with strong apple taste; the tart was a bit strong for me but typically I like Viognier **2020 Aviator: tastes of cherry and chocolate; medium dry- I don't love dry wines so it wasn't my favorite **2020 Reserve Merlot: intense aroma with bold flavor of cherry and blackberry and chocolate and smokiness- and a tinge of dryness and some acidity going down; this one was ok just wish for less dryness ** 2020 Reserve Syrah: deep aroma of bold fruits like cherry plum hints of tobacco and dark chocolate; fruity taste with a delayed acidity with just a touch of dryness; my favorite of the three reds

I am a sucker for both but with summer ending, it felt appropriate to get the frose and come back for the mimosa flight another time. I am still planning on when I can make it back. The tasting room is a decent size. Not large but there is both outside and inside seating. There is a couch/chair area at the front by the counter and then multiple times by the windows. The staff is friendly and knowledgable and the wine selection has options. The time we came they were out of food but you can go right next door to order food and they will bring it to you! Such a nice option so you are not drinking on an empty stomach. Plus who doesn't love to much while drinking a flight of wine.

We chose our seat at a table for two and were instructed on the process of tasting chocolates and wine. We met the owner of Brugge Chocolates and, of course, the Wine Geek himself, Bob Delf. Each came around multiple times throughout the tasting to see how we were doing and to discuss the varieties. Both were charming and very nice. The tastings came with $15 credits for any bottles we purchased that day as well as a nicely decorated box of 4 chocolate truffles per person. We ended up buying some great tasting wines - The 2018 Madrigal (a blend of 3 varieties) and a Rose. I have been to NW Cellars previously and LOVE the Malbec and bought a bottle at that time. This place is hidden in back of a strip mall in the Totem Lake area and is worth a visit. Bob is a nice person who makes his own wines and really loves what he does. Give this place a try!!
