Excellent bike shop. My son's bike needed a new wheel and they fixed it while we waited. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and they do high-quality work. Cain Park Bicycle is also taking strong measures to protect against coronavirus. You have to make an appointment for service or to look for a bike and masks are required. I felt safe and comfortable in the store. It's not as convenient as walking in off the street but that's a small price to pay for safety. read more

Called to inquire about putting a chain on a bike and was given attitude from a female who answered. I asked her if I could bring the bike in within the next 10-15 mins, and she said yes, but can't estimate the wait time. I then asked if the shop was currently busy at the moment, and that I could be there in 10 mins, and this blew her mind. She couldn't fathom the information. She started to spaz and kept reiterating that anyone could walk into the shop, and it's first come, first served. All I was asking was if it was currently busy. She could not process this information, and was very rude and unprofessional. Definitely did NOT care if they got business or not, almost as if she was discouraging me to stop in. I asked one more time if the shop was busy at the moment, then she said "give me a break" and hung up on me. Terrible customer service, she probably needs to ease off the dope. Terrible customer service. Several weeks ago I made an appointment on line and in the comment section wrote that I would be bringing three bicycles in for tune-ups. I arrived at the appointment time and was told that they couldn't possibly take three bicycles in because there was no room. I pointed out that I had made the appointment for three bicycles and was told that things changed. I never received a call or email updating me. The person I dealt with was rude trying to justify the fact that my appointment was not honored. I will never go ther again. read more

Great bicycle shop offering array of bikes, accessories and personal service. Gary, the shop owner, was terrific to deal with. He held a product (Saris Bones EX 3 Bike Rack) for me that was out-of-stock at bike shops throughout Ohio and was going to take a month or more to ship from the supplier. When I arrived at the shop, I was given individual attention and was instructed on how to properly install the bike rack. I can't recommend Cain Park Bicycle enough! read more

I've had no trouble getting parts and service for my Pista, my Raleigh 3-speed, or even my home-made fixie frankenbike. The shop itself is cluttered and sometimes a bit busy, but it's my favorite shop in town. read more

This is easily the best bike shop on the east side. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. They do great work and know how to take care of bikes. If you need a tune-up, it's only 20 bucks (plus parts). I got my bike tuned up in a single afternoon. As far as I know, most tune-ups are finished within 24 hours. Cain Park has a decent selection of new bikes. If you're really interested you might get to see the overflow inventory in the basement. Cain Park loves Bianchi bikes, which I'm sure are very great bikes, but they're also very expensive, so I can't speak to what it's like to buy a new bike here; but for everything else, this is the ultimate local bike shop. read more

I was frustrated from 2 weeks of run around by Target where I purchased my son's bike I was ready to throw it away. I stopped by Cain Park Bicycle shop. As I was reading the sign on the door that said make an online appointment for a repair, the most customer centric person I have encountered in a long time opened the door and asked to help me. Not only did he not make me schedule an appointment, he helped me take the bike out of the vehicle and carried it into the shop. He initially told me to come back the next day, then decided to fix the bike while I waited the same day. The gentleman fixed the bike, adjusted the handlebars and filled the tires with air! When I asked what I owed him, HE SAID 5 DOLLARS! I was so shocked I gave him more. I have not experienced such amazing service and customer care in a long time. If you need a quick tune-up, this is the place to go. They have knowledgeable mechanics and can get your bike back to you quickly. In terms of parts, the shop is pretty small and you might want to call them and checking before going for a part. Standard stuff is all there, though. Also---if you like Bianchi, this is the store for you. They have more new Bianchi brand bicycles than I have seen in any other bicycle store. read more

**See update below** I had a bad experience with Cain once last year when I took my bike in for a tune-up. I wanted to give them a second chance so I took it in again this year. This time around my experience was even worse. The first time I received my bike from them my disc brakes were not properly adjusted. When I tried to stop I could feel that the pads were not properly contacting the discs. It turned out that one side of the brake pads was worn down and hadn't been adjusted to expose the braking surface, so only one side was hitting the rotor. Had I taken off on my bike without testing it I would have realized too late that I had drastically reduced stopping power. That could have been deadly since I ride down MLK on my way to school. This time around was MUCH worse! Here is a brief summary of the condition that I received my bike in: - Missing valve cap (They lost it and didn't replace it) - Gunk remaining on cassette, rear derailleur, jockey wheels, chain rings, and brakes. - Still squeaky when riding (This was the main reason I took it in for a cleaning and tune-up!). - My rear wheel was definitely not trued. I believe this is the origin of the squeaks. - Front tire pressure very low - Front brake stuck (Another brake issue!?) - Front suspension still sticky This was completely unacceptable. The condition that I received my bike in told me a number of things. First, after having my bike for 14 days they still only managed to do a rush job on it. Second, they obviously do NOT test ride the bikes that they have serviced to even make sure at LEAST the brakes work let alone to listen for squeaks. Seriously, even a 5 second test ride would have revealed these two major issues. Third, I shouldn't give them a third chance. Luckily for me I remembered the brake issue from the first time around and checked the brakes as soon as I picked up the bike. I was surprised to have the very same issue. I took it back in and waited around for 20 minutes while they fixed the problem. I didn't have time to check everything else over because I was then late for where I needed to be. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because they don't charge nearly as much as other places, though now I might know why. Overall, the employees are very nice and I really like the shop and their selection of tools. I just can't believe that after paying them to clean and tune my bike I received it in only a slightly better condition than when I dropped it off, worse condition if you consider the hazard that non-functional brakes presents. *Update* - I changed my rating to 3 because they have some really nice employees that seem to care a lot about their customers. I think the squeakiness in my bike was probably due to bad brakes. They fixed the problem. They also gave me a valve cap to replace the one that was lost. Honestly, I think that they do a good job especially considering how much they charge (~$45). read more

I've been to Cain Park Bicycles a few times. I went twice with my husband, an avid cyclist, to pick up some strange odds and ends for his bike. They definitely had what he needed in stock, and the people in the shop were really friendly. He also brought his bike there for a tune-up, and I was impressed with the speed that they completed the tune-up and the price. I also went in there once to buy some accessories for him for Christmas, and no one laughed at me as I tried to explain what exactly it was that I was looking for with a multitude of hand gestures and "umm...uhh...I don't know?" comments. They're a smaller shop so they may not have what you're looking for, and from what I can tell only appear to sell Bianchi bikes, which are out of my price range. I don't have much experience in dealing with bike shops for service as I prefer to do most of the work on my bikes myself. But I was moving a Giant brand child carrier from one bike to another and the mounts on the rack did not fit the bike I was transferring it to - the mounts were not the originals. So I contacted a handful of bike shops in the area, including a couple of Giant dealers. I figured for sure the Giant dealer would have something for me, but no... they said they couldn't help me and offered no suggestions. I was floored. A couple of other bike shops gave me the same response. Gary (owner) at Cain Park was one of only two shops that said they'd be able to help me. With Cain Park being the closest to me, I paid them a visit. Met Zack, the mechanic, when I walked in. Gary wasn't there. I explained to him my issue and he said that while he has an idea of what I need, Gary may have something else in mind so it would be better to leave my bike and the rack so they could figure it out. I complied. Gary calls me the next day and said it was done. He was able to find new struts that fit perfectly and I was back in business. Very knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful people. Their pricing is very fair and reasonable so you don't have to worry about getting overcharged. Nice neighborhood shop that I would encourage every cyclist to support. I'll definitely turn to them again the next time I need service. Oh, and they have a pretty neat and unique line of bikes for sale. read more

I visited here a couple weeks ago and was told they would assemble and guarantee an e-bike that I purchased on-line. The bike came in today and I called for an appointment. The woman who answered the phone said that they only assembled the bikes that they sold. When I tried to explain what I was told, she hung up on me. I normally go to another bike shop that's under a mile from my house. It's where I purchased my bike, and it's close, so I normally take it there for maintenance. However, at that location, the owner and employees are always so snooty and look down on me (even though I bought the bike from them) because (I assume) I don't have a $5,000 bike and I'm not mechanically inclined enough to do some minor repairs. Therefore, I decided to go somewhere else for a tuneup. I chose Cain Park Bicycles because I've heard they're excellent, and I was not disappointed. I walked in and was informed there was a 6 week wait period for a tuneup (oops). I apologized and said I didn't realize they booked so fast and I was actually moving to Columbus in a few days, so that wouldn't work. Instead of shrugging and sighing and turning me away, they threw my bike up on the rack and took a quick look at it. Adjusted the brakes, oiled the chain, checked the tread on the tires, and the alignment. They were super nice, friendly and accommodating. If I ever move back to the Cleveland area, that's the ONLY place I'll take my bike. read more

I purchased my first road bike a couple of weeks ago. Prior to purchasing, I visited other bike shops then came back and purchased the bike. This shop had great customer service and I like that the bike was already put together. I didn't have to purchase additional items like pedals. The staff was very knowledgeable. I know they have been around for a long time, b/c I have had my children bikes repaired at the shop on the spot speedy service. I wish they had more selections of the Bianchi bike, but overall I am very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend purchasing from Cain Park Bicycle. read more

Only two stars because they're prices for repairs are reasonable. Other than that, I will never go here again! I know all about snobs in Cleveland Heights - I've lived here a long time. But you're running a business so it's better to be polite and say you're welcome when a customer says thanks. Right in front of the owner I said thank you - but no reply. I also inquired to the young person working about any type of warranty on repairs, he wasn't sure - and the owner standing right next to him did not chime in at all. When I dropped off my bike, another young person took my order - and was so robotic and down right cold. I knew I shouldn't gone here! Common courtesy goes a long way - but you won't find it at this place!! read more

I have 10+ years working on bikes so I usually bring my bikes to shops only if I'm feeling lazy. Had some cabling work done here but ended up having to re-do both brake cables (heads up that the quick release on the caliper is meant to make the wheels easier to remove...the way it was adjusted makes no sense). Probably will also re-do the shifter cables as well. If this is your business, just make sure the job is done right the first time. There are enough good bike shops in Cleveland that there are alternatives. read more

I was in and out in less than 30 minutes- no wait! Very helpful. Although they could not repair my daughter's bike seat, they replaced it $15 installed included the used seat they had on hand. I've dealt with a lot of bike shops for over 15 years around the country. When I came to Cleveland Heights over a year ago I thought I had found a great local place for parts and fixes I didn't have time for myself. I had a couple good experiences with Cain Park Bicycle so I kept coming back. Unfortunately, I just learned that if you enjoy working with an honest business that values their customers, then this is not the place for you. Long story short, my bike was banged up badly following a wreck. I brought it in to get quoted. The mechanic said they didn't have the parts and would shop around and get me a quote. A few weeks later I got a message on my phone saying they had quoted the parts and repairs at ~$250 (a fair price all things considered, which is generally true of Cain Park Bicycle). Without ever confirming the order with me the mechanic placed the order and fixed up the bike. Meanwhile I had made other plans. I got a call out of the blue saying the bike was done and would cost $250. Having made other plans, I was left in a position unable to pay for the repairs that I had not asked for. Following their own mistake they were completely unwilling to work with me. The only solution they offered was to give me my bike back in pieces (after undoing the repairs they made) and charge me ~$50 for labor that I didn't ask for and couldn't afford at this point. I can't understand how they do things they weren't asked to do and expect to charge a customer for it. Because I was unable to pay for the labor, they kept my bike ($500 new last year) and now I'm left with nothing. Somehow these guys feel good about hustling their customers and then taking their bikes from them instead of owning up to their own mistakes. Yikes! read more
