There were so many choices it was the epitome of a kid in a candy store. We shared a slice of Black Forest cake and a glass of champagne. We sat outside to take in the views of the quaint village of Baden-Baden. The Black Forest cake you can get in the United States can't even match getting the real deal. I mean, wow! The cake was decadent and creamy, infused with liqueur, cherries, and whipped cream. It was so good that when it was gone I was scouring the dessert plate for another morsel. I was using my fingers to get up every last crumb. Simply said, best of the best.

Such a cute place to stop. The pastries are all so beautiful. Love the towers of macarons.read more

Nuremberg sausages will test it a little bit like cheaper breakfast franks. The truck was OK but it was basically just cooked with the skin on and then Homans thrown on the top of it. The mugs of beer were pretty decent at five euros a glass. The big problem that we had was the service. We were served a salad and one glass of beer. And then we waited for over an hour. We started asking repeatedly what was going on with the food and we're not getting any answers. We saw other people show up 20 minutes after we've come served entire dinners while we were still waiting. At the point we were about to walk out finally the soup in the two main dishes finally arrived. We asked for another beer to help with our meal and again there was a huge delay. The place was not that busy at that point and it took so long to deliver the beer that we were essentially finished with our dinners. They never gave us any water at all and finally serve the beer when we were done. It's still me of the time when we ordered but by the time we finished it was knight in fairly cold and we started getting sick from the whole experience of waiting in the cold for so long.

That, of course, is not the restaurant's fault, but still. Service was adequate but slow and not especially friendly, and the food was a bit up and down. I had a beet salad with baked goat cheese, and the beets were fine, and the goat cheese was excellent, but there was a truffled cream that I thought really overpowered the rest of the dish. The Trinkhalle (Pump Room) is one of Baden-Badens's most iconic landmarks. It is located next to…read morethe Kurhaus. It was designed to complement the grandeur of the Kurhaus and serve as a central space for spa guests. Originally, the Trinkhalle was a drinking hall where visitors could sip the city's mineral-rich thermal water. In the 19th century, "taking the waters" was a core part of spa culture across Europe. Trinkhalle reflected Baden-Baden's identity as a health-focused resort with the natural thermal waters. Today, you can't drink the thermal water, but you can enjoy the open colonnade with 14 beautiful frescoes (and an odd clown sculpture.) The fourteen frescoes depict local myths and legends, such as the Kellersbild, Der Mummelsee, and Engels- und Teufelskanzel, offering a view into the region's folklore.
