Recently stopped by during a visit to Brazil. I ordered the dorado and it was cooked to perfection. There was rice and a savory sauce that came with it so I just dumped it all into the same bowl and enjoyed every last bite. Great service. Authentic Brazilian food.

This Santa Teresa restaurant is the best find for a weekend brunch. Located at the roundabout area where the taxis drop off, this rustic café features a weekend brunch buffet with northeastern cuisine. Within the colorful bowls, you'll find a medley of items ranging from eggs with carne seca (dried meat), boiled yuca, boiled plantains, tapioca, and a handful of other satisfying warm treats. There's also an array of meats and cheeses along with a fresh juice station and sweets to fill you up after the savory. You pay the fixed price and then it's all you can eat. The place gets to be lightly bustling, but we managed to score a table with no problem at 9:30am on Saturday.

My favorite restaurant in Rio - always a must when visiting. Food is delicious, service is outstanding, every single time. Only downside is getting there is a bit of an adventure, going up the infinite hills of Santa Teresa.

With this excellency in service this place will be my kitchen in Sta Teresa. They offer a very good kitchen from Northeast.

Came here on a rainy afternoon to explore the culture of Santa Theresa. This cafe was recommended by some locals and it's conveniently located next to the open train. We ordered from Brazil classics: Feijoda and Moqueca (spelling?). The Moqueca was okay. Maybe we weren't in the mood for fish. The Feijoda was delicious! I did like the one from a cafe up in Corcorvan where Christ the Redeemerr better. Food aside, I loved the culture and enjoyed just sitting around with locals and people watching.

High ceilings, classic atmosphere, the kind of place where you half expect people from a century ago to walk through the doors. All we had was the Café Colombo Especial Duplo (for two), and it was more than enough. Quick tip before ordering: adjust your expectations a bit. As Americans, we're used to breakfast meaning eggs, sausage, bacon the whole heavy lineup. In Brazil, breakfast leans more toward pastries, breads, yogurt, and coffee. And that's exactly what they brought out: baskets loaded with different kinds of bread, pastries, spreads, yogurt, and plenty of coffee. Honestly, it was a lot. So much bread we couldn't even finish it all. A simple breakfast, but in a setting that makes the whole experience feel special.

The wait time can be a bit egregious, but I will say- it's worth the wait!…read moreThe two of us went in around 3pm on a Wednesday. We had to wait in line for around a 1/2 hour. Warning- if you go later in the day, they are sometimes out of certain pastries. The menu is extensive. They have more than just pastries and snacks! The inside is gorgeous and definitely picture-worthy. Our server was very kind and responsive despite the massive rush. The food is good, but let's face it, you are mainly there for the atmosphere.
