    Quartier Latin.

Went here after walking the rounds at the Botanical Gardens. It's a such a cute little cafe. I love it! They have indoor and outdoor seating. Even if it is raining (like it was today) - the windows are open and it's such a pretty view. For a Sunday afternoon - it wasn't too busy. We seated ourselves & a waiter dropped off a menu. I ordered their Lemonade Juice - not sweetened. So i added some organic sugar - made it better. I ordered the Quartier Latin on a Baguette - which is a sandwich with Buffalo mozzarella, dried tomatoes and arugula. This was an actual good-sized sandwich that filled me up - and it was delicious. We had to request the check but that is something not out of the ordinary. I'd recommend it!

Absolutely love this place! It's a piece of paradise with simple impeccable French cafe food. Nothing overly complicated - mostly sandwiches, eggs and croque monsieur, cakes but everything is done so well and with such good taste - it's hard to resist. The staff are smart and accommodating which is extremely rare in Rio. They make their own bread. Sitting outside in the courtyard is wonderful. And after lunch you can walk around the gardens. Not to be missed!

This place is like pain quotidien if you are familiar with it! Hard to go wrong! Fast service, smiling waiter, good European style breakfast (croissants, bread with butter/marmelade, smoked salmon and eggs). It is simple but it does the trick. The granola and fresh fruits were specifically good. Only negative points, there is no a/c in the inside so it is pretty hot. Some of the bread slices were not fresh, just a couple, not a big deal because we had too much anyway.

A hidden gem! Amazing bakery and coffee house just outside of the botanical gardens. Try breakfast, sandwiches or desserts, there's no going wrong with the quality of this small place. Prices are decent, atmosphere is casual, there is free wifi and the quality if their products is outstanding. A very pleasant surprise worth writing about.

What kept me coming back was the Bodybuilder Breakfast, packed with chicken breast, egg whites, and fruit. When many breakfast options around town lean heavily toward bread and carbs, it was refreshing to find a protein focused meal that fit my routine. The location is another big plus. It's within walking distance of the beach, several shopping areas, and a large open air market where you can browse everything from fresh seafood and produce to clothing, souvenirs, and household goods. Service can be a little relaxed, but the food is consistent, the atmosphere is friendly, and it's an easy place to start your day before heading out to explore Rio.

Due to the high demand for this location everyone is fast past but ensure to engage the customers and personalize the experience. Ambiance: the resturant is Brazilian owned with open seating from host. It's can seat max 45ppl and also have outside sidewalk seating. The interior is lovely with colorful decor and a comfortable ambiance, along with a chill, casual atmosphere. We were served complimentary boiled peanuts in the shell, and these were simply addicting! I thought it was a bit strange that there was no steak on the menu, given that we are in Brazil, but I learned this place specializes in Northeastern Brazilian cuisine, so perhaps steak is not so common in that particular region. Since I know I wanted to try authentic coconut shrimp soup, I decided to order that. This dish came with coconut rice and farro (a yellow, fine grainy substance, which was pretty tasty when mixed with the rice and soup.) In the soup, there were a ton of shrimp, which were delightfully tender, and succulent. The soup was full of flavor with plenty of yummy seasoning. The rice was nice and fluffy, but didn't have much coconut taste. I was able to try a bit of one of the nutty tapioca desserts. It was really unique with a chewy consistency, sweet, as well as light. There was a mouthwatering caramely sauce accompanying it. Service was wonderful throughout. We were well taken care of during our meal.

The wait time was very short -- only about five minutes -- but it was a Wednesday and not a holiday, so I imagine weekends can get much busier. I'd definitely recommend arriving early or making a reservation if you plan to visit on a Saturday or Sunday. The food was excellent. We ordered the Pesto e Burrata, which was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. We also tried the Picadinho Tapajós, and it was one of the highlights: the beans were perfectly cooked, the farofa mix was amazing, and it came with a beautifully prepared egg and fried banana. Such a comforting and authentic Brazilian combination that I'm sure everyone will enjoy. For drinks, the strawberry caipirinha was spot on -- refreshing and perfectly balanced in sweetness. The passion fruit caipirinha also tasted great, although it could have had just a touch more sugar. We also tried the Limoncello Spritz, which wasn't really our favorite, but it may appeal to a different taste. The real star of this place is the view. It's absolutely impeccable -- honestly, there are very few places in Rio (or even in the world) with a setting this beautiful. Having lunch with a direct view of Sugarloaf Mountain feels priceless. Prices were a bit above average, but considering the location, atmosphere, and unforgettable scenery, it was 100% worth it. Highly recommend!
