This is my favourite cafe in Bristol. When I first met my partner we would meet for lunch in this cafe and it was so romantic and sweet. The cafe itself is just like any other of Bristol's array of cafes, but with a difference - the staff. The staff are amazing. There are three Spanish guys who seem to run the cafe and they always have a smile and a joke for you when you enter, and they remember what you want - something that doesn't happen often nowadays. As with most cafes in Spain, in here you order and sit down, and pay when you leave.
The cafe is immaculately clean although not especially modern-looking. This doesn't detract from its feel at all though, and in fact I think it's part of its charm. There are 3 floors alhough very few people actally sit upstairs, and in the summer there are tables outside which is wonderful, particularly for the smokers out there. When my partner and I began going in there you could smoke, but due to the smoking ban that's not allowed any more.
They do the usual array of drinks - cafe latte, mocha, americana, tea, milkshake, soft drinks etc. Only a few times have I eaten here, despite having been a regular visitor for a couple of years - but the times I have I've never been unhappy. Jacket potatoes, burgers and breakfasts are their speciality and are very tasty and also reasonable.
One of the things I miss most about Bristol is this cafe and the smile you're greeted with when you walk in. read more
