Beautiful Tuesday afternoon around 4 so all outdoor tables were occupied but one opened up after a short wait. We were in a rush as we had a meeting point deadline. Service was a bit slow to take our order. Interior, which was empty given the weather, had character and looked like a cool Bar to have a drink especially when it's cold outside. Dreupelkot is also known for Jenever-juniper flavored liquor. They have 200 offerings on the menu. That said, we were here for Klokke Roeland. (The Roland Bell which hung in the Ghent Belfry). A strong, (11.5% ABV) rich golden brown Ale. Some fruitiness with a slight bitter finish. We enjoyed it! As mentioned , brewed exclusively for Dreupelkot by Brouwerij Van Steenberge. Our server was upbeat and thought we ordered two Cokes (vs Klokke). I walked over and double-checked with him and we avoided a wrong order. Overall, a great stop with nice views of Binnenstad, for Klokke and also to try the Jenever.

I've been here twice - I literally stumbled in her by chance my first time - now it's my favorite place in Gent. I might take a train next week just to go then come home. I love it. It's a tiny, intimate little room, and everyone's there for the same purpose - to drink Jenever. It's the international equalizer. The crowd is random - last time we had models, locals, young and the old. it's a great way to meet people from and visiting Gent. Of note: * Jonge jenever - leaves a burn, but a good start * Jalapeno (pepper) jenever - think you can handle the heat? go on. give it a try * Violet jenever - one of a kind * Kreik (cherry) jenever - made in house - nice * Lemon jenever - classic It's a "can't miss" spot in Gent in my opinion. Stop by, try a few, but if you stay a while, don't say that I didn't warn you about one of one of the worst hangovers of your life.

Op een kleine afstand van het station (zijstraat van het geote plein) zag Bodega er gezellig uit. Buiten op het terras was heerlijk zitten en de tapas-gerechtjes waren lekker. As of November, 2018 the place has been open for two years. The energetic and kind host welcomed us in, and we sat at a pleasant two-top with a view of the boulevard and passers-by. Eggs Benedict was listed as a house specialty, so we gave it a try. At €9, it was a little small (only half the size of a typical Benedict. More aptly named "Egg Benedict," it comes with just one egg, a single strip of bacon, and perfectly sauteed spinach on a single hearty piece of toast) - but the flavors were excellent. Instead of the usual hollandaise used in the US, which I find a bit bland, Bodega's serves a richer bechamel. This worked wonderfully. We also shared a €7.50 Greek yogurt and granola. Note that granola in Europe means a slightly different cereal- more like what we call muesli. Toasted and nicely flavored rolled oats with nuts and a bit of dried fruit, but without the clusters we typically see. It's quite tasty and similar to granola, but less crunchy. Good value. Coffee was typical European excellent. We had cafe con leche (coffee with milk). One of those will wake you right up. Total cost was €22. Not much more than we'd pay at a cafe at home, but far higher quality. Four stars; a great score by my standard.

We only had appetizers for a quick bite, they were good. My first glass of wine was poured a bit too low and the second as well. I let it slide. My husband's first beer was poured perfectly, but the second one was loaded with foam. This is a peaceful location, I do hope that there are other servers because the ones on duty when we came were slacking a little bit. It's not a bad place to grab a bite, but I do not recommend the wine, it wasn't that good, in my opinion. Restaurant business is tough, overall it is a decent place to eat and drink.

As part of a Belgian beer hunt, it has a good selection, though far from the best in the area it's definitely worth making this a stop in your pub crawl. The food was very decent if unsurprising too. This was one of the few places we found that didn't have an English translation on the menu, but we managed to muddle through nicely and were very happy with what we got, even if we weren't 100% sure what it was... No credit cards though, which was unusual for a bar in a tourist area.

Restaurant itself is nice, with a good outside sitting area as well as a large indoor area. Food: I had gray shrimp croquettes and waterzooi fish, both traditional Ghent dishes. Croquettes could have had a bit more shrimp (they didn't say any thing about % of shrimp like some restaurants so I assume less than 45%). €10 per piece, so quite expensive. Fish stew was DELICIOUS! If it wasn't €28 could eat that stew for days Service: meh. They were only half full, but took awhile to get beverages and food. Had to remind the wait staff a few times. One unfortunate thing is because of the high Asian tourists in the restaurant, who were noisy and rude (taking pictures of EVERYTHING including restaurant patrons), the experience wasn't great. I left as soon as I could.
