My brother needed a cup of coffee to sustain him before we started our
Blackbeard To Banksy Ultimate Bristol Walking Tour. We spotted this coffee shop enroute to our meetup point and he ordered a Flat White while I checked out the loo and the building architecture.
I liked the sound of some of the other coffees on the menu, most of which I'd never even heard about before (like the Cortada) but I didn't end up ordering anything. My brother said his coffee was okay, nothing spectacular and he probably wouldn't come back again for coffee, but the atmosphere and the building itself of this Cafe are super nice.
The uni-sex loo is down these steps in the cellar, and it's wall-to-ceiling expensive looking Italian marble and fairly spacious. The building the Cafe is located in is from the 1800s and unique as there are marble busts representing the other nations that the Bristol merchant-navy ships were trading with during that era, as well as gorgeous Egyptian motifs. So if you happen to be using the outdoor sitting space, have a look up at the facade, and you will spot Asian, African, Spanish and Native-American Indian busts!
