Despite this, I was very favorabley impressed when I first visited Osteria ai Pugni; it's unquestionably among my top three favorite bars in "The City of Water". On my first visit, a friend and I stopped in here for a pre-dinner cocktail. We planned to find a restaurant to eat dinner in afterwards, but we found the drinks, service, and the ambiance here so much that we ended up staying the right of the evening. We enjoyed quite a bit of their exceptionally good wine, skipped dinner and made a meal out of the amazing cicchetti. Yes, the food is wonderful and the wine list truly outstanding, but it's the exceptional service that brings everything together. It's what made our first visit so memorable. Every single member of the staff we interacted with was amazingly attentive and very friendly. They all seemed to want to go the extra mile to make our experience here exceptional. All their cicchetti recommendations were spot on, and they even let us try samples of the wines they recommended to pair with our food. Tip: All the cicchetti we tried was first-rate, especially the polenta based dishes. We found them to be a delightful alternative to the more common bread-based cicchetti. Bottom line: The hospitality here is 2nd to none, the service is exceptional, and the wine list has something for everyone. Add to that how reasonable the prices are, and it's a foregone conclusion that I plan to become a regular. Highly recommended!

Think of Spanish tapas style. We had a little squid ink bun stuffed with salmon, very very good. Then another with prosciutto. Then two small sandwiches with prosciutto and another type of ham. Everything was good and fine nothing mind blowing where I needed to go back again. Service was also fine although the personalities of the 3 girls working were awful. They made me feel as if I was bothering them by being there. Honestly if the food was that amazing, I'd go back and deal with it the shitty attitudes, but there are many other places to get food as good or better without the crappy attitudes.

It's a cozy little bar. Staff is fantastic, friendly and helpful - despite being very very busy at all times. It's popular with both locals and tourists. And for good reason. They've got a huge range of fantastic cicchetti. And nice, affordable wine, prosecco and more. There are only four tables outside and limited space to stand inside. Most visitors just hang around in front of the Bar. We've managed to get a table each visit still. We've had some of our favorites again: Gorgonzola with anchovies, some with sardines, some with bacalau. Some with prosciutto or lardo. Smoked fish or salmon All great stuff. But also this time we've discovered some new ones: With crudo di mare (raw fish/seafood), shrimp and sour onions, mushroom cream topped with mushrooms, bacon and artichokes. They've also got other snacks like fried bacalau. Really: Every single item here was delicous. They are just the best at what they're doing. And that since a long time. It never disappoints and is well worth the money. Depending on the day and time they do not always have all and/or the same cicchetti. Even more reason to come back to get some more. And we will definitely be back.

Since it was in walkable distance from where I was staying, I decided to check it out for lunch. The bar is pretty small, so I think taking it to go is usually what many people do. I got there close to when it opened so it wasn't crowded and I was able to order right away. I decided to try a few of their cichetti that had seafood on it like fish and fried squid. These are all bite-sized so I would definitely recommend getting multiple to try out the different flavors, especially with the different cheeses/creams they add. The food here was very fresh, and I liked the flavors a lot so I'm glad that I went to try it out. Overall, if you're in Venice then this is a good spot to check out!

My husband and I ordered 4 flavors (2 each) but we should've just shared 3 instead. Order and pay at the counter, find a seat, and watch for your order to be done. Loved the wine options. The small space fills up quickly but we were lucky to find a spot for 2 by the window. It was a great spot to people watch the street outside as well. After, walk a few blocks/steps to Suso for gelato/dessert!

Instead of handling it professionally, a tall blonde employee immediately snapped at me, saying, "Why would you put your card down? That's not your bill." I apologized right away, but she continued to act incredibly rude--rolling her eyes, shaking her head, and talking under her breath while processing the refund. It only got worse from there. When I reached for a slice that had been placed in front of me, she barked, "No, that's not yours." At that point, I felt completely unwelcome and didn't even want the food anymore, so I asked for a refund so I could leave. She refused, claiming the pizza was already in the oven and that I "had to pay for it." She then tried to say I only ordered one slice, when I very clearly ordered four. The entire situation was handled in the most unprofessional, hostile way possible. There was zero accountability, no basic customer service, and the way I was spoken to was completely unacceptable. I have never been treated like that at any business. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Overview: Roticceria Gislon is a no-frills spot near the Rialto Bridge, tucked slightly off the main path on the right side of Calle de la Bissa. It's easy to miss but works well if you're looking for a fast, affordable meal. Service is quick, prices are low, and the menu offers a wide range of ready-to-eat dishes. Food: I stopped in for an early lunch and grabbed takeout. The staff was kind and helpful, and the server spoke English, which made ordering easy. I started with battagin (fried fish bites; in this case, cod) and crema fritta Gislon (deep-fried custard). Both were on the greasy side, but given the price, they were fine. The fish was slightly overcooked, though nicely seasoned. The crema fritta was fairly bland: not terrible, just unremarkable. I also tried the bigoli in salsa and spaghetti al ragù. The bigoli sauce was watery and collected at the bottom of the container. The ragù was dry and lacked depth of flavor. Additionally, the pasta was overcooked in both dishes. Overall: Roticceria Gislon is a decent stop if you need a quick, inexpensive bite and aren't too fussy about quality. The service is friendly and efficient, but the food left me underwhelmed.
