Ensalada Fresca - Dinner
Lisal F.

I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars because: The service: amazing. Our server was welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu items, ingredients, and ability to customize. She offered recommendations when we were indecisive, and made sure each customization was executed accurately. The food: unpredictable. Let me explain: I ordered the gazpacho and the ensalada fresca. Both come with a hearty slice of Blue Dog crusty sourdough. Gazpacho: one million stars. SO delicious - flavor is spot on, with incredibly creamy texture for a vegan soup. Salad: not bad, but didn't blow me away. The greens were tasty, and the few tangerine slices and pine nuts scattered on top added a nice depth. The balsamic dressing was also pleasant. As a whole though, I felt something was missing. Maybe a crunchy or warm element? For a $15 dinner salad I expected more. The pricing: a little steep. I understand the goal is to provide elevated European cuisine, however for the quality and quantity I didn't feel the salad was worth it. That said, I would gladly pay $4.50 all day long for that gazpacho. Overall I appreciate the variety of options, especially vegan and vegetarian menu items. I would consider a return visit for the gazpacho for sure, however the issues above merit shoring up.

I've been here before and the food has been amazing tonight, the french fries were out of this world and the lima bean risotto dish was definitely a one star. The waitress was delightful the music was really great and I do love going here so I'll go back I just probably won't get the lima bean dish again. That's too bad because it used to be my favorite.

My husband and I met friends of our here for dinner. They had been several times and recommended it. It was delicious! Menu that has a wide variety of options- anyone can find something there that they'd like. I had the mussels and they were delicious! Our waitress was nice. Small space- not a ton of seating, so not sure how great it would be for a large group.

This European style restaurant is amazing! I stopped in for an espresso and breakfast and was amazed by the vibe and the food. I will definitely be a regular here

I found a great work lunch spot - menu and receipt pictured. Swipe to see the turkey, Panini, curried, chicken, salad, sandwich, the West Coast veggie sandwich, chunky chocolate, chip cookie, and the frothiest cappuccino ever!

This place has the most unique flavors of empanadas in town. My favorite was the gyro and the spinach. I love how they also serve coffee. I love their giant cookie here also. I aim to try each flavor of empanadas they have one day. Hopefully, like an empanada flights lol.

Garlic shrimp pasta is the star here! Deliciously sweet and garlicky! I'd forever come back for this dish.

Had been driving past here for years and finally stopped in!!! Very diverse menu with lots of affordable options for many kinds of cravings. Extremely European feel (but with better service) all around. Doesn't make you feel like you're on Frankfort Ave!

By far one of my favorite restaurants in Louisville. A nice, quaint restaurant with amazing food, their pomme frittes are probably the best fries I have ever tried! This restaurant gives a very intimate feeling, like a restaurant where you could go alone and have a nice meal without it feeling too overwhelming. The staff is very attentive as well and since the restaurant isn't too big, the staff is always in eye view where you can politely wave them over if need be. Definitely recommend if you are looking to have a quite evening with a wide variety of food!

Café Classico is one of our favorite places to go to for a nice start to our afternoon with a wonderful cappuccino and Belgian Pomme Frittes or a light lunch or dinner. The environment is calm and comfortable. The people are polite. And service is always on point and satisfying. Try the desserts with your coffee they are always satisfying.

I'd say that Caffe Classico flies a bit under the radar, but based on the crowd I saw today at lunch, I may be the only person not remembering how great this spot is. This place was packed, and we were lucky to get a table. I started with a cappuccino -- fixing the mistake from my previous visit of not ordering one of their coffees. And this cup of cafe was good. The foam was thick, and the entire cup was a luscious pick-me-up. For my entree, I went with the Panini Prosciutto, which was what I've gotten on previous visits. This sandwich was hot with the cheese warm and still gooey. I loved the bread especially. I also got to try the empanadas, with the ham empanada being my favorite, as well as the cake cookies and gelato. These cookies were sweet and fresh, and the gelato was creamy. I opted for the pistachio flavor, which was not over-the-top with the flavor. The service was prompt for the most part, and the whole vibe just feels like it's a restaurant in a bigger city. For a lunch that's a bit different, especially, I would recommend Caffe Classico.

I so want to love Good Belly…read more But their hours suck. Always call before going because this "boutique" - "I'll be open when I feel like it" sandwich shop is never open. Want to go for breakfast? Nope Want to go for dinner? Nope I just drove there only to see a hand scribbled note taped to door saying - not open. The tiny window of (maybe open) operations is not worth the trouble.

I decided to give Good Belly Sandwich Shop a try after seeing a TikTok review that made the…read moresandwiches look absolutely massive and incredible. Based on that video, my expectations were pretty high. My wife and I made the trip out there, and I ordered the Reuben while she ordered the Turkey Reuben. The restaurant itself was clean and nice enough, although nothing particularly memorable. Their homemade chips were definitely the highlight of the meal--they were fresh, crispy, and probably the best part of our visit. Unfortunately, everything else fell short of what we were expecting. The Reuben lacked the bold, savory flavor that makes a great Reuben memorable. I was hoping for something that reminded me of the oversized, flavor-packed deli sandwiches you'd find in New York City, but this just wasn't it. In fact, I honestly think the Reuben at Jason's Deli has more flavor and is a better sandwich overall. Service also left something to be desired. While ordering drinks, we asked what they had available since they weren't listed on the main menu. Instead of simply pointing us in the right direction, the employee gestured toward a small drink menu sitting on the counter and made us feel like we should have already known it was there. As first-time customers, that wasn't a great first impression. Another thing that made the experience uncomfortable was an employee who continually walked around the dining room, clearing tables while closely watching people who were still eating. I understand keeping the restaurant clean, but it felt like we were being rushed, and several times it seemed like he was hovering over diners rather than just checking on the dining area. To top it off, I ended up with heartburn shortly after leaving, which didn't help my overall impression of the meal. I really wanted to love this place because the online videos made it look like a hidden gem with giant, authentic deli sandwiches. Unfortunately, my experience didn't live up to the hype. While the homemade chips were excellent, the sandwich, service, and overall atmosphere just didn't justify making another trip. Sadly, this is one place I don't plan on visiting again.

The Papa Joe is definitely not your typical Reuben. It's pastrami, corned beef, Swiss, dill pickle and sauerkraut, but instead of the Thousand Island or Russian dressing you normally get on a Reuben, Kayrouz uses Düsseldorf mustard. That gives it a completely different flavor and makes it stand out from the other Reubens I've tried. I really liked the atmosphere here, too. It's an older building with a cozy, old-school feel, and I enjoyed looking at all the pictures throughout the inside. It has some character to it that you just don't get in a newer restaurant. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even better. There's also some pretty cool Louisville history behind the Kayrouz name. The family has been in the restaurant business here for generations, going all the way back to the 1920s. The current deli carries on recipes and traditions connected to J.P. Kayrouz, so you're getting more than just another sandwich shop when you walk through the door. Overall, I enjoyed my visit. The Papa Joe was good, the staff was great, and I really liked the atmosphere. It wasn't my favorite Reuben-style sandwich I've had, but I'd definitely come back and try some of the other things on the menu. There are several sandwiches that caught my eye, so I'll probably be back to see what else Kayrouz has to offer.

The community table on the patio is a pretty neat setup. Lunch menu was a little pricey but we figured this meat must be amazing to have these prices. First the cocktails. Pricey at $15 a pop. We tried two that sounded pretty different the Spanish Pipe Dream and bourbon based Velvet Goldmine and they were just ok and kind of tasted way too similar. These were supposedly on the sweeter side but I'd give them a 6/10. We tried the $17 dry aged burger with an additional $2 charge for fries and it was pretty good but after all the hype it similar to all smash burgers. The dry age flavor really wasnt there. Bun was standard brioche type, not toasted. Good burger but nothing special though. I did enjoy the sauce and toppings giving. It a unique sweet flavor. 6/10 but just go to Toastys for a similar cheaper one with way better fries. The fries were disappointing. Soggy, floppy, zero seasoning and salt on the. Tasted like the oil they were fried in and that's it. Not the best. 5/10 Turkey club. 8/10. $18 with no sides. The bread and sauce really do 99% of the work because taste wise the turkey was not discernable from supermarket deli turkey. The bread is a delicious oven baked pizza crust folded over and the sauce combo tastes like a Cesar salad. I highly recommend this , it's a simple but amazing sandwich, but it at this price point for salad and turkey on pizza crust it really should have a side. Service was 2/10, non existant. Took 1.5 hours to get out of there because of how it took 20 minutes to order and another 20 just to get our drinks, and our server was busy with tables outside so we didn't see her until we were asking for our checks. Overall the food was good, drinks just ok, but the hype this place gets , at least for lunch, along with the service is grounds for dissapointment.

I ordered the shrimp and grits, and without exaggeration, they were the best I've ever had. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, and the balance of textures throughout the dish was incredible. Every bite had the perfect amount of crunch, flavor, and toppings. Nothing felt overwhelming or out of place. It was one of those meals where you find yourself slowing down just to enjoy every bite. Even the water deserves a mention. It was clean, crisp, and refreshing. If it came straight from the tap, I would have never known. It's a small detail, but it speaks to the overall dining experience when even something as simple as water stands out. The service was great, and the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. It's easy to see why this restaurant has built such a strong reputation. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 comes down to accessibility. As a person with a disability, parking can make or break a dining experience. Unfortunately, there was no handicap parking available, and there were no nearby parking spots open when I arrived. I ultimately had to park in a hotel lot about a block away, which cost $25 for just two hours. Not only was the cost frustrating, but the additional distance was challenging given my mobility needs. The food was phenomenal and absolutely worth trying, but I do hope accessibility becomes part of the conversation for future guests. For those without mobility concerns, this may not be an issue, but for disabled patrons, it's something important to consider before visiting.

If you visit Louisville and don't stop here for a bite to eat, I feel sorry for your taste buds and…read morebelly. All of the reviews about the Danwich are TRUE! True people! Because it was bigger than my head (ok, maybe this is a slight exaggeration but not by much) i had to disassemble it to eat it in stages. First off were the waffle fries and I found them to be tasty, crunch and fluffy in all the right spots. Once the taters were off I cut that biggie baby in 8 'Oh My Danwich' slices. Y'all, I rarely find myself at a loss for words, even my high dollar, 10 letter ones, but I can't fill this space with all the adjectives I would want in describing this sanwich that would make you want breakfast for every meal. The sausage had that savory salty pork taste that makes you happy you're not a vegetarian with an egg slice that was fluffier than my German Shepherd's downy fur. The cheese even had a nice pull with the topper being their chive aioli. And that sandwich was just the beginning because I also ordered a Strawberry Cruffin, Bourbon Peach hand pie and a raspberry Danish to have as late night snacks. The handpie didn't do it for me. The peaches lacked flavor that I found myself asking bestie if she wanted it because I was jiat going to toss in the trash after just 2 bites. The strawberry mascarpone cream in the cruffin was silky smooth and berrylicious with the croissant being flaky and fluffy. It was almost like a sweet and savory after school snack. The kind of bakery item that keeps you coming back for more. And more. And the piece de resistance was the raspberry Danish. I've lived my 61 years learning to never turn down raspberry anything and today, my raspberry research paid off. One hundred percent tenfold. Even though the glaze drizzle was super sweet, the flaky danish offset it with that light crunch but fluffy innards. Y'all, with each bite I just fell more in love. The Danish was so good that when I came to my last bite not only was I sad that it would soon be gone but I wanted to cry. Cry y'all. Over a Danish! Yes, do it. You only live once. Order the Danwich & the Danish. You won't be sorry. You can pay me in Butchertown gift cards. Or Bourbon. Hubby's brother lives across the Ohio so, next time he goes to visit them I'm going with him.
