What a quaint, cute European-type cafe! Serving delicious Julius Meinl coffee. Their soups are scrumptious. The seafood chowder is rich, creamy and perfectly spicy. The salads are dressed in a light vinaigrette and boast a fresh mix of ingredients. You must have the bread! They use Blue Dog Bakery bread and it is heavenly. Especially dipped in the soups! The menu here is really nice. The Pomme Frittes are as good as advertised! We both decided on an entree (stuffed chicken for her, pork tenderloin for me). The flavors were outstanding, as were the side dishes. But both proteins were overcooked. Not necessarily dry, but close. It seemed like maybe they precooked them earlier in the day, and over did it when they prepared them for us. Two minutes less on each and they'd have been superb. Wine list was great and affordable. Beer list was impressive. We had an Argentinian cookie for dessert that was just delicious, and the other desserts sounded great. We'd go back for sure, but would likely stay away from entrees. Came to see the flamenco dancers, reservations were lost but we managed to get a table, service absolutely horrible. We would have bought more drinks but flagging the waitress down was impossible. They weren't serving anyone. They could have made more.money if they were taking drinking orders. My mom ordered a orange sparkling water, that they served in a can. We had to ask for a glass with ice, they were out of cheese and crackers as well. Really?. The only great thing were the dancers... Every time I eat here, I think "Why don't I eat here more often?" It's comfortable, not overly loud, has live, wonderful guitar, and very good food for a very good price. I especially like that they offer smaller portions on many entrees. The wine list is good and very fairly priced. The pomme frittes are fabulous, and so are the risotto cakes. This place gets a good 3.5 star rating for me. To be honest, I don't think it exactly knows its' spot in life. My man friend and I came in here for a low key dinner and enjoyed some wine, the cheese plate, the Salmon cakes (for me) and the vegetarian cakes for him. We both enjoyed our food and wine, but I think the spot has an identity crisis. That being said, I enjoyed it! So many different types of people enjoying a different type of time in one place. Beautiful store and good espresso! We stopped in for an espresso on ice and wished we were hungry to try the empanadas. The espresso was nice, rich, and dark. The menu had a nice selection so we will have to come back when we are in town. It seems like a great place for date night as well; very romantic. The service was quick as well! read more

The reviews turned out to be true -- the fries are good, not so much because of the fry, but because of sauce they serve with it. You can come to this place for great, well portioned, savory meals. Deli meat is something I don't tend to note in a sandwich, but here it was clear that the meat was fresh and well accented in the toppings. Its one of the few places in Louisville where I would only eat half my plate, just because I want to enjoy the meal again later.... rather than cramming the food in my face till it's gone and then hate myself. And, you can come here to gawk at the atmosphere. The lunch crowd here is your typical old blood Kentucky sorts that I imagine each have a deep unshattering pride on their inherited silverware collection and mahogany 5000 lbs case they display "reserved only if the president visits" china set. I hate to break it to the folks, but paying $6 for a fry appetizer doesn't make you the high roller of Louisville. read more

This is one of my all time favorite places. The food is great and reasonably priced. If you're really looking for a good deal, most of the entrees can be ordered in half portions. If the fancier sounding dishes aren't your thing, they have spectacular pizza, steaks, and French fries. They usually have a great selection baked deserts and even gelato. As if the food wasn't enough, the ambiance is wonderful and there is almost always ample seating, even on Friday and Saturday night. Finally, the service is always friendly and professional. Caffe Classico has a very romantic and well, classic feeling ambience. It struck me immediately as the pefect place for a date or other intimate dinner. I personally joined a friend for dinner there in the back dining room before an elite event taking place in their front room. We started by ordering Pomme Frittes which came with three dipping sauces. We selected them after hearing that they had won an award for being the best fries in Louisville. They did not disappoint as they were absolutely delicious. I then ordered a Margarita Pizza and my friend ordered a Pizza Alla Bobo. The ingredients on my pizza were extremely fresh. The dough was light and flavorful. I would venture to say that it was the best Margarita Pizza that I have ever had. My friend also enjoyed his Pizza Alla Bobo. I also have to mention that the service was impecible. My water glass was never empty but I never noticed it being refilled. We were never left wanting anything but also didn't feel intruded upon by the wait staff. There was also live guitar music being played. This meal was truly the pinacle of perfection. read more

A restaurant with cool relaxed feel, a man plucks classical guitar in the corner. Ice cubes tumble in iced coffee as the cream drifts to the bottom. The caffé classico offers the refined feel of bistro with poise and grace. They offer a well-stocked bar (being the only bar I've seen carrying makers mark 46.) We had crisp oil free pommes frites with ketchup and two great sauces. We got the pizza bobo a pizza with prosciutto with pepperoni. Delicious, and an exquisite margarita pizza with small plum or cherry tomatoes on top. The service was impeccable the staff is polite fast and friendly. The staff helped one another out they seem to care more about the customer than anything else. The food was great the crust on the pizzas crisp and just the right amount of cheese. I will defiantly go back, and try to cover and taste the rest of the menu. There was a lot that looks good on it. They are not cheap but prices are fair. Sandwiches are $8 and the pizzas not much more dinner is 10 to 15 a plate but worth it. Our table was 50 for an appetizer two pizzas and my iced coffee. Will be going back. read more

Horrible service. We had a 7pm dinner reservation for 4. After being seated, we waited forever to be greeted by our server. By the time she came to take a drink order, we knew we better get our food order in while we had her attention. We ordered a cheese plate and fries as appetizers and four entrees. Then we waited over an hour for the appetizers. When they were finally delivered, they tasted delicious. Then we waited again. After 8:30pm, we managed to get our server's attention and learned that the chef had not even begun preparing our entrees. She could not tell us how much longer it would be with any certainty. She offered us a plate of bread while we waited. We cancelled the remainder of our order, paid the bill and headed to Sweet Surrender for dessert. We all agreed it was one of the oddest dining experiences we had ever had. Nobody seemed particularly concerned about the fact that it took an hour to bring a cheese plate and we'll never know how long to bring dinner. read more

I should say I haven't eaten here recently, but I've been here several times with my family, and really enjoyed it each time we went. They have excellent service, a short but very tasty menu (eggplant parmesan pizza, anyone?!), and the ambiance is slightly upscale while being relaxed. My wife and I started with the pomme frittes appetizer, which we enjoyed. She ordered a turkey panini and I ordered risotto cakes, which they were out of. I ordered a salad instead. Everything went pretty much downhill from there. It took me ten minutes to wave our server down to get any silverware, and it seemed like just one person was waiting on the entire restaurant. The waitress seemed irritated when I asked if I could have more water, and then after sitting with my credit card on the table for almost twenty minutes, I walked to the front register to try and pay. The red-faced owner very curtly said he would be with me in just a minute, and then proceeded to ignore me for about seven minutes or so while I stood there. The food was marginal, and not good enough to be treated that way. There are too many other great places in Louisville for us to consider returning. read more

Passed this place hundreds of time, so finally decided to have lunch there. Started with the huevos fritos al caballo. The fries were good, the egg on top was cooked well, and the sauce they use is interesting. I was hoping for something mind blowing, but it was missing something. Maybe if they added more sauce or added shredded cheese it would be the dish i was hoping to get. I am not a coffee drinker, but my fiance said this was one of the best cups of coffee she ever had. We had the chicken roulade and feta panini with cup of chicken and rice soup. The chicken roulade had great flavor and the risotto cakes were very good as well. They were out of asparagus so we got the lima bean succotash. It was good for a bite or two, but way too salty and I usually put salt on everything. It did have a ton of flavor but just too salty. Feta panini was good, but I was really hoping for a lot more flavor. It has sundried tomatoes and pesto, it should be loaded with flavor. Soup was very good, but they were out of the other soup of the day which sounded way better. Overall I would go back for lunch and try a few other things. Dinner menu is about the same as lunch with a few other items added to entrees. They do sound appealing so I may end up there for dinner soon. read more

Went there for lunch the other day and found it to be awful, mostly on the service side. Brought all of our food out at once when we told her what we wanted to start with and then have as our main course. Didn't apologize. The owner/manager said he would "keep our food warm" while we finished our first course. Then they brought the rest of our food and it was room temperature. Always a delight to say the least. The atmosphere is so warm and inviting, the hint of coziness from the small candle on each table adds just enough to give that at home feel. Located on a quaint corner in my neighborhood within walking distance, makes it even more attractive. I will be honest, I am not a fan of Margarita pizza in a normal situation, however....there's is amazing! The beer list is one of the best in the city in my opinion, simply because they offer draft options that you cannot seem to find anywhere else. The bottle options are pretty impressive as well. Not overwhelmed with IPA's only like a lot of places. Not everyone loves IPA's Louisville! The service is also up to par, not waiting for a water refill is a pleasant thing. one of my favorite lunch spots for several reasons--- Cant beat the lunch specials at $10.00 for soup/salad or sandwich..... I will drive there for the Gazpacho alone.... theirs is by far the best I have had, and trust me , I have had it all over!!! Generous portions and quite filling which can be unusual for specials in some places....service is always prompt, food is fresh, and delivered at a great price---- what more can you ask for... oh well, there is one more thing... they serve the Mexican coca cola with real sugar!!! read more
