Tempting...

I also find it strange that people insist on packing out Starbucks when real Italian coffee is right next door, but the world is an awfully strange place. Caffe Paradiso is bright, cosy and full of tasty looking treats, from sumptuous sandwiches and salads to devilish looking cakes and pastries. It's in a really pretty area of London to boot - walking distance from the Thames with a lovely cobbled square out front with some beautiful statues scattered about. The cafe is a great place to meet friends for a caffeine jolt before sauntering along the river.

Nice place to hang out for a few hours and work in Shad Thames. I like their chocolate croissants and muffins.

Can't say I am all that impressed though. Red Velvet Cupcake - The frosting is so sweet and the Cake a little on the dry side. I like my Cakes to be moist. They're pricey too at £2.65 a pop. I thought paying the equivalent of £1.90 - £2.20 a Cupcake was a lot in California but I can't say I didn't expect it here in Britain as everything is more expensive. I do like the location of the Bakery, right near where my Hubby used to work and less than a mile from our beloved Thai Van (best Yellow Chicken Curry in The City btw!). Aside from the regular sized Cupcakes they also sell mini Cupcakes (£1.35) Brownies (£2.50-$3.75) and Whoopie Pies (£3.25) as well as whole Cakes from Sponge (£22 upwards) to Cheesecake (£26) and Pies (Pumpkin, Pecan, Mississippi Mud (£32-£36) ect. *There are also 3 other locations around London with the newest being in Islington in the Angel Building as well as a Food Truck (look at me becoming all ''American'').. or Van I guess I should be calling it that serves local Festivals.

Walking home from Peckham, we stumbled across this cute little bakery. We'd eaten brunch but come…read moreon, I'm only human. Bakery = cake. Cake = BROWNIES! The bakery has plenty of seating both outside and in. The smell of fresh bread fills your nose as you enter and there's a warmness to the staff and the people within. We didn't eat in today but we will definitely be back. Instead we grabbed a chocolate cookie and a salted caramel brownie and we went on our way. 5pm came round and it was cookie time! The cookie was packed full of chocolate chips and tasted wonderful. It was very crumbly but I liked this about it. I can only imagine it warm and gooey - NOM. Next, the brownie. Moist and melt in the mouth, it was truly delightful BUT I couldn't really taste the salted caramel, it just wasn't strong enough over the chocolate. Still a great brownie. As, I said, I'll be back for lunch. Those pizzas are calling my name.

A man wearing a bra with no uniform delivered it to me (slightly odd but ok). to my surprise it came with guacamole (which I've never seen in my life before on a BLT), only few pieces of bacon and about 2 cherry tomatoes cut up and put on (which did not get close to covering all the space. It mostly bread , tasted ok but skimpy on the bacon and tomatoes . I realized the tesco next door had a BLT with the same amount of bacon. More tomatoes , and only 1/3 the price. Average , not an amazing place , your results may vary

I initially wanted/ordered a particular cake, after paying for it they realised they didn't actually have it in stock and when I said, to just leave it and asked to have my money back as I felt none of the other cakes were appropriate for my brother they, they refused saying that when a transaction has gone through on the till they cannot return the money. So finally I had to settle on a different cake which had to be re-iced in order to make it suitable. The cake looked pretty good, but to be honest it isn't that hard to make chocolate look good. I don't think I've ever been more disappointed would've been better off buying an Iceland's gateau. The cake was stale, I can only imagine how long it had been since it was made. Admittedly the icing wasn't terrible but the cake was so bad that my brother who would usually eat anything, including my awful cooking couldn't stomach more than two spoonfuls. Everyone that was served the cake ended up throwing it away, we still had half the cake left which also had to be thrown away. Waste of money. If you're looking for a cake from an asian store you're better off going to Banoful across the road from this place, or better yet my personal favourite - Patisserie Valerie in Spitafields is a good choice, definitely worth the money.

As we were walking around Borough Market we saw the line for Bread Ahead and realized it was for the donut stand they had outside along the street. We had to jump on line and drool over the display of sugary goodness. We each tried a different donut and was not disappointed! So many varieties to choose from - coconut, lemon curd, blackcurrant cheesecake, seasalt caramel and honeycomb, and others. They don't skimp on the fillings as each bite was flavorful. Yum!

I'd reccomend checking out the bakery as this is where the fresh goodies are made and you're more likely to get the fresh batch here. Price wise, it's a bit steep. At 5£ per donut and 6.50£ for a piece of focaccia. But you're in a tourist area so high prices should be expected. We opted for the cheese focaccia that came right out from the oven. For 6£, it's not bad. It's pretty sizable and a good shareable snack! It's a good crusty bread and had a subtle garlic flavor with a blend of stringy cheese. If you like cheesy garlic bread, this is for you! Out of all the snacks you could get in the borough market, this is a solid option! But I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.
