I had a Chocolate Doughnut that I liked a lot, there was a lot of filling and the chocolate cream was really good, not too sweaty, not heavy in consistency and with a perfect texture!

I'm not sure what all the hype is about since the donuts here were very ordinary. I also tried the egg tart, which was even more underwhelming.

The place where you can get the best doughnut in London. I'm being purposefully ambiguous. This is because I really don't want you all to go here.

Items Selected: Eccles Cake Brownie Custard Doughnut Cranberry Doughnut Discarding more than half of the underwhelming leftovers from Comptoir Gourmand as I progressed down Druid Street it would not be long before I arrived at Archway 72 and with smiling faces behind piles of bread ready in wait my first of two experiences with the team of St. John would prove well deserving of accolades long received. Far more focused in scope than several of the Druid Street stalls with no more than a half dozen sweets plus a well culled collection of breads it was entirely with focus on the former that my order arose and with 9£ exchanged for four items weighing what seemed like literally 4lbs I made my way to a small park to enjoy - a wise choice considering the delicious mess soon made. Beginning first with something of a signature before trending to things more familiar it was the flaky golden shell of an Eccles Cake that first met my tooth and breaking through to a dense pocket of currants and spice I couldn't help but smile, the flavor unlike anything found stateside though somewhat reminiscent of a fruitbread that would pair well with coffee or good cheese. Moving next to a more 'American' pastry offered only on Saturdays and equally well praised it was in a duo of doughnuts that I indulged and with crunchy sugar crystals overlying fluffy pockets of custard and jam I couldn't help but reminisce of the paczki enjoyed on Fat Tuesdays past, each bite extruding filling onto my hand and the bench beneath. At this point taking a break given the day's already substantial eating plus that yet to come it was not until a few hours later that I finally finished my sampling and although dubbed a "brownie" by the St. John team the item I actually encountered was something far more - a sort of fudge or ganache infused into a nearly-flourless chocolate base that slowly melted on the tongue.

Chocolate donut - they do not skimp on the filling! Delicious

As we were walking around Borough Market we saw the line for Bread Ahead and realized it was for the donut stand they had outside along the street. We had to jump on line and drool over the display of sugary goodness. We each tried a different donut and was not disappointed! So many varieties to choose from - coconut, lemon curd, blackcurrant cheesecake, seasalt caramel and honeycomb, and others. They don't skimp on the fillings as each bite was flavorful. Yum!

I'd reccomend checking out the bakery as this is where the fresh goodies are made and you're more likely to get the fresh batch here. Price wise, it's a bit steep. At 5£ per donut and 6.50£ for a piece of focaccia. But you're in a tourist area so high prices should be expected. We opted for the cheese focaccia that came right out from the oven. For 6£, it's not bad. It's pretty sizable and a good shareable snack! It's a good crusty bread and had a subtle garlic flavor with a blend of stringy cheese. If you like cheesy garlic bread, this is for you! Out of all the snacks you could get in the borough market, this is a solid option! But I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

The bakery has plenty of seating both outside and in. The smell of fresh bread fills your nose as you enter and there's a warmness to the staff and the people within. We didn't eat in today but we will definitely be back. Instead we grabbed a chocolate cookie and a salted caramel brownie and we went on our way. 5pm came round and it was cookie time! The cookie was packed full of chocolate chips and tasted wonderful. It was very crumbly but I liked this about it. I can only imagine it warm and gooey - NOM. Next, the brownie. Moist and melt in the mouth, it was truly delightful BUT I couldn't really taste the salted caramel, it just wasn't strong enough over the chocolate. Still a great brownie. As, I said, I'll be back for lunch. Those pizzas are calling my name.

A man wearing a bra with no uniform delivered it to me (slightly odd but ok). to my surprise it came with guacamole (which I've never seen in my life before on a BLT), only few pieces of bacon and about 2 cherry tomatoes cut up and put on (which did not get close to covering all the space. It mostly bread , tasted ok but skimpy on the bacon and tomatoes . I realized the tesco next door had a BLT with the same amount of bacon. More tomatoes , and only 1/3 the price. This is the 2nd time I've tried Laduree; the 1st time I tried it was when I was in Hong Kong, but it wasn't that great then. Here it was fresh and at the perfect temperature, since I had it in the morning. I had the rose, salted caramel and the vanilla flavor and they were all so delicious. Great, well balanced taste and perfect soft, melting in your mouth, fluffy texture. Each bite was so amazing, not too sweet either! I love how consistent their macarons are. Each macaron was 1.8£ which isn't too bad when comparing to other macaron places I've been to around North America. The service wasn't too friendly to me though because they knew I was a tourist, so that was kind of unfortunate and didn't make the experience that great. They had this "too busy" kind of attitude even though there was nobody there. I do have to say that the decor and interior design is on point, it has this classic, british cafe look but with the signature aqua color of the Laduree brand. It was nice as they had a small sit-down area, so I was able to enjoy my 3 macarons while catching a break from walking around!

The store is a almost an assault on the senses with brilliant colours, delectable smells, and countless combinations just hinting at the virtually unlimited pleasures to be tasted. Over the last year, Laduree has made it's mark on London, opening a number of stores across town. Fortunately (or perhaps not), this particular store has opened up right below my office and provided a steady, albeit expensive, supply of fine Parisian delights. As to be expected, the displays are as pleasing to the eye as the tastes are to the palate. Pyramids of macaroons, elegantly arranged boxes of chocolates, and rows of intricately designed truffles adorn the shop. The staff are very helpful and friendly, quick to offer advice when you stare dumbfounded at the number of options presented to you. My usual favourite is the simple box of 8 for just under 13 squids. I can never choose but if you ask them for a random selection they will pick them for you, seemingly at random but I assume based on the more popular trends. I've always been quite happy with the range provided which usually includes some salted caramel, chocolate, a few flower-based flavours, and a citrus or two. Something to make everyone happy! As a note, I've heard that Laduree makes all their macaroons in Paris and ships them freeze-dried around the world. Now to London, I assume they stick them on the first Eurostar or fly them over and the taste is still fresh but this could be a problem for their further afield stores. I haven't tried it out in person, but something to keep in mind.
