A coffee shop inside a house garage! Wanted to show some support in my local neighborhood. It is…read morealso right by my house so I walked over in the morning. It's pretty popular as I am always seeing people drive here just to grab drinks. I have been here twice already to try different drinks. Tres leches einspanner - this was what I was most interested in as I've never seen a tres leche drink before. It's definitely on the sweeter side even with the espresso shots. Pretty good drink if you like coffee like I do. Double matcha - I'm most disappointed for this drink. Basing off the color alone I can already kind of tell as it's quite light in color. The matcha was not strong enough, it was too milky and too sweet for my liking. I'm not sure what kind of matcha they use but I could hardly taste any matcha. I like a more umami flavor and this was too light, thin and milky. And the matcha cream top was the same. And for the price of the matcha, it was not worth it. I've had better elsewhere for cheaper. I'm just surprised so many people get the other matcha drinks like blueberry and strawberry when the matcha itself is not that good. There is usually 2 people there, that rotate cashier and making drinks. Their logo is pretty cute and have a station for straws, lids and sleeve. Overall, I wanted to support a small business but I don't know if I would come back again.

I've seen a lot of mixed reviews stating that their service, drinks, and food is subpar but I haven't experienced that yet because maybe they're just mad. As far as drinks go, we've tried their Abuelita Latte, Horchata Bliss Latte, and Honey Latte. I've opted for oat milk for every single one and they've all been spectacular! Great espresso tones and overall flavor. As far as sandwiches go, we've tried their Chipotle Melt, Chicken Pesto, and Black Forest Ham. They're all good but the Chicken Pesto stood out the most and it was one of the best sandwiches I've had. A little pricey but very delicious! Service has been great every single time. The wait time hasn't been too bad for us but I would consider maybe calling in if you're in a rush because it may take longer than you'd normally expect from a smaller business like this one. Parking onsite is shared by East Los Tacos but there's additional parking available across the street. However, I would recommend taking your valuables and keeping a close eye on your vehicle if parked across the street because the area there is very sketchy.

I visited specifically for the Mazapán Latte ($6.15), and it did not disappoint. Reyes, whom I assume is the owner, provided excellent service; he explained that the drink is meant to be enjoyed in stages--starting with two sips before stirring to balance the flavors. Getting those little pieces of marzipan in every sip was a unique and delicious experience. What truly stood out, however, was the hospitality. While I was taking photos of the mural, Reyes kindly surprised me with a complimentary Chai Latte, as it was the last day they were serving it. It was incredibly thoughtful, and the drink was fantastic. It's clear that they truly care about their community, offering high-quality, affordable coffee in a warm, inviting space. The positive vibes extend to the other customers as well. While I was photographing the decor, a fellow customer kindly offered to share her table so I could access an outlet. It's rare to find a place where both the staff and the patrons are so genuinely kind. If you're looking for great coffee and a welcoming atmosphere, do yourself a favor and support Acurrúcame Café. However, I decided to give this café a try because East LA cafés are rare, and I wanted to support this particular business. I ordered a matcha, a coffee for my sister, and a few baked goods. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The matcha was poor quality, the coffee was mediocre, and the baked goods tasted like items from Ralphs or Costco. They seemed almost stale, were clearly not baked in-house, and lacked everything you'd expect from a baked item from a café. What was especially frustrating was that the matcha et al. is priced as if it were ceremonial grade, despite the quality being far below that standard. The bakery items are prepackaged products arranged to fit the café's aesthetic rather than freshly made offerings. The space itself is cute, and the woman who helped us was very kind. However, the quality of the food and drinks simply does not justify the prices. I really wanted to like this place and support a local East LA café, but the overall experience fell FAR short of expectations.
