Southern Fried Chicken Wrap & latte.
    Kathryn T.

I visited Cafe Zee last weekend having had it on my list of places to try for a good few months! Upon entering I was surprised to discover they actually roast their own coffee beans on site, as in all the hundreds of times I've walked past, I've never seen that fact displayed prominently outside the café front. The cakes, however, have always looked mouth-wateringly delicious and have caught my eye on many occasions. We were around Ealing looking for a quick lunch and decided to grab something savoury. I was impressed with the selection of sandwiches and opted for the southern fried chicken wrap, with cheese, soured cream & lambs lettuce. Toasted of course. Upon eating, I was unfortunately disappointed with my choice. There was too much soured cream, making it quite gloopy, heavy and not all that tasty. The chicken was also a lot less flavoursome than it could have been, it resembled plain breaded chicken more than any kind of southern fried spiced variation. However, my boyfriend had the prawn baguette which he said was delicious. I also ordered a large skinny latte, which was delicious, though they were slightly expensive. I suspect this is due to the fact they do roast their own but it tasted very similar to other coffees available at a lower cost near by. We did however also have room for something sweet and shared a triple chocolate cookie and Portuguese custard tart between us. Both of these were utterly delicious!!! The cookie was so richly flavoured it tasted more like a brownie and it was so good! I'd definitely return in future for coffee and cake, I'd just leave the savoury for elsewhere!

Charming atmosphere, aromatic coffee and indulgent pastries. As micro-roasters, they care about their product and the shop really takes you on a journey as you enter. Coming here is like stepping in to a miniature museum, where you can buy souvenirs in the form of coffee beans. The big glass windows flaunt their many sweet things to the passing street, and that is more than enough to tempt me in each time I pass.

Good way to start the day with Mocca and Eggs Royale on a Sunday

Although the staff will tell you that they are only a recently opened cafe, they still offer breakfast from full English to Eggs Benedicte or Royale till 11 am. At the counter you can also get a variety of delicious Danish pastries and a good quality coffee of all kinds. Breakfast is served till 11. Good way to start the day with Mocca and Eggs Royale on a Sunday.

Pretty nice little spot in Ealing for coffee…read more Harris + Hoole is one of those coffee shop chains that desperately want to look like an indie spot - and they kinda do a good job at disguising themselves as such. The branch in Ealing Broadway is really nice, has school-like chairs and worn out sofas. A hipster's paradise. We went there twice for coffee and once for a quick lunch (today). Their coffee is nice, though from a place that makes such a big deal about having good coffee, I found that it was pretty average - nice but nothing to shout about. Their food looks lovely though, and I've tried their halloumi and Aubergine flat-bread today and it was really really delicious (maybe they should start market for sandwich eaters rather than coffee drinkers...just saying) and I'm looking forward to coming back another day to try more from their range, maybe something sweet. The downstairs is big, bright and airy. The food counter is massive and you're spoilt for choice, though they do have more sweet than savoury stuff. Which I guess makes sense. The upstairs is much smaller but not cramped, it has a large sofa and some individual tables and armchairs, as well as some nice local art on the walls. It was a bit too hot though, despite the air con being turned on. But I guess that's an issue they have probably two weeks out of 52 per year. Only disappointing bit was the price: we paid £15 for two sandwiches (albeit big and yummy) and two small cappuccinos. Am I being cheap or is that a tad too much for what is is? Either way, lovely spot and will be definitely coming back!

There was a fair selection of cakes and biscuits on offer and some delicious looking sandwiches, including small rolls for children, something lacking in many other coffee shops! My son and I managed to bag a seat on the sofa by the window and got snuggled and cosy to while away half an hour. Unfortunately, I did notice the seat next to me and the floor were pretty dirty. It was bright and spacious and we'll definitely return again! Sandwiches are slightly pricey but coffee prices are pretty average, very similar when compared to all other coffee chains.
