Limeyard is an American diner in London. I'm absolutely in love with the decor, which is totally true to the original diner style. The colours are kept in dusty tones and the wooden tables outside go well with the old mint coloured jugs with patina, containing knives, forks and napkins.
They have a small outdoor area, but it does have a small archway roof, so don't expect to be able to sit in the sun the whole day. If you're like me, who prefer to eat my food in shadow instead of baking sun, the place is great.
Now this is my first time visiting the place, so I didn't really have any expectations. I was just going for a quick bite for lunch, as I'm having an early dinner. I ordered something I could just nipple on, which was the avocado nachos. The size was fairly large and I was far from eating it all. I think this portion could easily go for a full time meal for some people.
Despite the size, I actually thought the nachos were a bit bland and the cheese was non-existent... I wish I had ordered extra! Other than that, the guacamole and the salsa were nice.
Afterwards I ordered ice coffee and the baked cheesecake.
I'm positive that some people will love this cheesecake... It just wasn't for me. It turns out I'm not that fond of lemon in a cheese cake and even the berries couldn't make up for it. Also... If you loooove coffee as sweet as I do, you'll be happy to know, that they don't sweeten their ice coffees with anything, so you'll have to ask for that. The coffee was okay, but I wasn't massively impressed. Og you have to drink it quite fast, because the many ice cubes will water it out pretty quickly.
I came during lunch time, but luckily the place wasn't full. Sadly though that didn't mean that the service was fast and I ended up waiting quite a while for my lunch, which was only a starter. The cheesecake and coffee came rather quick though, but I waited for the check for a long time too.
All in all it wasn't a bad experience though. And while I was sitting there I got to see some of the other courses arriving for some of the other guest. The tacos were presented very decoratively on a kind of small wooden log with holes carved for each taco to stand upright.
But the best thing I saw though, was the spareribs... They looked so tender and juicy that even though my stomach was completely full, they still made my mouth water and for that alone, you can be sure I'll be coming back. read more
