We had a wonderfully warm welcome from husband and wife team Mark and Tina on an otherwise depressingly grey spring afternoon! The couple and their business are fairly new to Weymouth, but doing plenty to make their enterprise inviting to passing customers such as us.
For a start, Cafe Vie D'Amour occupies a commanding corner position on the seafront, in a handsome and characterful Georgian building. The interior has a mixture of stripped back wood, cosy second dining area, twinkly lights here and there, with decor in warm cream and brown tones.
Cafe Vie D'Amour is by day a cafe serving sandwiches, coffees, cake and scones plus more substantial lunches, but by evening it also functions as a bistro. The literature placed on tables promised various theme nights, and the proprietors were also trying out slots with muscians.
We only stopped by for a coffee and cake break (yum), so cannot speak for the other food. However, if you are the kind of person who would rather have service with a smile, a bit of friendly chatter and, most importantly, support a local business as opposed to a faceless 'anytown' chain, then this will be the place for you! read more
